"So?" I looked at the man dumbfounded.
"I found it first," I replied. I was currently holding unto an herb that I will use to make medicine. I was planning on giving the merchant the medicine, he was compliant to my requests about looking for certain information. When his wife became sick, I plan to cook up medicine that specifically treats pneumonia when this man suddenly appeared and told me that he was the owner of the herb.
"I own it."
"Is this forest your whole property then?" I asked back.
"No."
"Then how is it yours?"
"I laid my eyes on it first."
"I took it first," I glared back at his red eyes, this b*tch is seriously getting on my nerves.
"I need it."
"So do I." I held unto the rare herb. The man suddenly lifted up his shirt, I almost struck him when I noticed that he was wounded. I just looked at it as if it was normal. There was a large gash running from the left side of his chest down to his right rib.
"So?" I returned his indifferent tone. We bickered for almost half an hour when he suddenly lost strength and leaned on the tree. I was planning on leaving him when I saw how much the guy was suffering. I can't give up the herb but I can make him a more adequate medicine for his gash. I sat down and started mixing different herbs that I was collecting earlier.
"What are you doing?" The man glared at me but I ignored it and answered calmly.
"I didn't know you're blind, I'm clearly making medicine," I said.
"For me?" He was confused about why I was making one.
"No, for me," I said sarcastically, it's obvious it was for him.
"Why are you making it here then?" I stopped what I was doing and looked at him dumbfounded, what the f*ck? Is he retarded? I started doubting the man's mental state, he can't even read the sarcasm in what I just said.
"You don't have any gash." He continued.
"No sh*t Sherlock." I retorted.
"Sher- who?" Oh, it slipped my mind that Sherlock wasn't a thing here.
"It's for you! now shut up and lift your shirt." He obediently did what was told and I cleaned his wound. I gently applied the paste and bandaged him up.
"Why are you doing this? Do you want a reward?" I looked at him as if he was some fool. What f*cking mentality does this man have?
"Oh, so you want me to undo it? Ok." I started to roll the bandage back roughly when he stopped me.
"No, just...why are you doing this?" He asked once again.
"Do I need a reason? Can you just say thank you?" I finished wrapping him up and started packing my stuff.
"You're not scared?" This dude is seriously weirding me out.
"Of what, your organs splurting out from your wound? I've seen worse than that." I finished gathering my stuff and finally stood up. I took out the snacks inside my pouch and a few gold coins from my pocket.
"You better survive, don't waste my time by dying." I put the money and food on his lap and went on my way. I growing taller and this body has experienced menstruation for the first time. I quickly went back secretly and made the medicine to give it to the merchant.
Elle knew that she has to locate the source of the rip in the book. Her tasks are to fulfill Yang Yuhuan's wishes for living a comfortable life without financial problems, avenge her parents, and punish her other family members and finally, cause the emperor to fall from grace. I'm still in progress regarding her family's ruin and Emperor Tang but I already solved her financial problems. A week after the auction, I sold the precious diamonds, about 3 pieces of 5 karats were found and 6 pieces of 2 karats, I gained an amount of 8 digits, yes ten million gold. I set up my own account without the knowledge of the Dan family. I increased that amount and doubled it by the time I reached 16.
I couldn't easily get rid of the Yang family and their corruption but I got to retrieve Yuhuan's mother's properties and they need to pay monthly for my allowance. The Yang's were against it of course but I won the case. I plan to stabilize my income by building restaurants and tea shops. For some reason, Iris didn't want me to join the mercenaries and instead build my own where 'I can control everything'. I wasn't that much interested in them so I listened to Iris. We started investigating places around the capital when I get the chance, I couldn't get out of the capital yet, I can't just go missing on the Dan family, they got attached to me after all. The two little kids were now mature since I discipline them regularly, The old brother Kang Chun is training in the Mountain sect to be a knight while Wang Fang is into teaching, she didn't want to marry and she canceled her own engagement. I guess it was in the Dan woman's blood to be career women, Wang Fang didn't like the idea of having children and serving a husband.
There are also strange things occurring recently, I was being followed. I started noticing it a year ago, according to Iris, she has sensed someone uncovering out trails whenever we travel, but she got it under control and always loses them. There would be men following me around whenever I'm near something regarding the loud thunder 5 years ago, as we continued searching different places that might lead us towards it, we always find nothing. Either it was already gone and we missed the trail or it was a mislead. It was as if someone was purposely hiding. It was harder than what we usually encounter since the imbalance was a "person" and not an object. We confirmed that it was a person when we saw it being used. It was during the Spring Festival when it occurred.
"You feel it don't you?" I whispered to Iris. I lifted my Hanfu and walked faster. Iris and I felt a sudden hint of dark sorcery.
*Di-ing-Ding*
'The blood bell is ringing, it's near.' I walked faster towards the direction of the sorcery. We went past people wearing brightly colored Tang suits and Hanfus. The smell of street food and the sound of children's laughter was heard but I stayed focus on following the black mist. Elle soon saw that the mist was coming from someone behind the crowd. She squeezed through the people trying to catch up to the black mist. The Blood bell was going faint when she suddenly bumped into someone.
"Oh!" She almost fell down when a pair of hands supported her back and held her wrist.
'It's the blonde guy from before!' Iris almost shouted at the top of her lungs.
'Calm down, he doesn't know me.' Elle said for a matter of fact. She wore a disguise of a grown lady, besides that was 4 or 5 years ago. Elle only felt irritated, the guy suddenly appeared before her which held her from following the mist.
"I apologize for not looking on the way." She simply apologized and tried to go and find the black mist once again but he held her back.
"You seem to have forgotten this miss." The foreign man held out a small pouch, Elle was about to take it and say thank you when she realized that it was the pouch she had during the auction. She momentarily paused and looked at the pouch. 'Does he remember me?'
"I apologize, but that is not mine good sir." The foreign man only smiled. This somehow irked Elle. The foreign man with blonde hair stared at her eyes, it seemed that he was captivating her gaze for so long. As if the man found something interesting, his smile got deeper and it sent chills down the cat's spine. It seemed that Elle was unfazed, she felt irritated but kept herself together under the man's gaze. Elle took her hand from him and took out her fan swiftly to cover her face.
"As expected, foreign men really are barbarians." Elle just mocked the foreign man, as far as she knows, A blonde man wasn't in the original Yang Yuhuan's life. Elle curtsied and distanced herself. She let the crowd cover her and soon, she went on her way. The foreign man lost his smile.
'Why can't I read her?' Since the woman wasn't using "sorcery" to cover her face, he thought he could read her by now. The first time they met was 4 years ago, he searched for the girl and at the same time, followed Han's orders. He came and went but he couldn't find a single woman! He couldn't find a woman that matches his description of her, it turns out, she was using sorcery after all. He remembered the color of her skin, while his partners remembered the color of her hair and eyes. She was the only one with pale skin like that as if it was made from paper. He didn't try to bother reading the woman's mind back in the auction, now that he has tried, he found it odd why it doesn't work on her.
"Follow her."
"Yes, Zhu Lei."
'Who would've thought that you'd still pique my interest after 4 years?' Lei didn't know why, but something about the lady triggered something. When Ye Rong saw his face, he almost choked from his saliva.
'I sincerely pray for that little lady.' Ye Rong knows that face too well. That twisted smirk he sees whenever something's cooking up in his brain. The large man sweats whenever he sees Lei's twisted smile. Either he's discovered something very valuable or is thinking of ways to torture someone.
Elle tried to find the black mist but it was nowhere to be found, she caught her breath and sat down for a while when someone stood in front of her casting a shadow.
"Oh, hey Retarded guy." Elle unconsciously said while trying to catch her breath.
"What?"
"Nothing. So how's the festival going for you so far?" She changed the subject as the black-haired guy stared down at her. Now that he was standing straight up unlike a month ago, he was really tall. What does this man eat to get this tall? Elle shrugged it off and patted the space next to her.
"You're blocking my view." The guy was standing in front of her so he shoved him and made him sit next to her. Elle knew that she had to catch that person and resolve the rip already. This was the first challenging reality she's been in after a hundred years. She settled things easily and left things as should be, now they have a moving target that keeps on getting away. She never thought that "that" guy would put her in this situation, she's become a seamstress and a system at the same time, do you know how large the responsibility is to be either one? And to combine them?! Elle just sighed and enjoyed the smell of street food, the sound of drums and music being played, and the captivating lights in front of her. She wants to rest, not momentarily, but rest for eternity.
