Chapter 1 - Forgotten Past

Forgotten Past

Fire inflamed the grassy field as houses burned, and the walls fell apart causing flaming wood debris to fall down burning and crushing those that remained inside. They tried running from the fires as its deathly roar caused more to fall upon them causing an inevitable death.

Ten samurai appeared in front of the main clan house all drawing their katanas, surrounding the last group of four that managed to avoid the fires. The leading general Harmon stepped out in front of his men addressing the four.

Harmon: " Ah running again aren't we, Nuri?" He smirked and then drew his katana pointing it at Nuri, signaling the samurai to form a circle around the small group, leaving no room for them to escape.

Nuri: "Really Harmon is this really how it's going to be? " Nuri motioned for the two to stick behind him while raising his guard preparing for any possible move Harmon could make.

Nuri: "My son will have a future no matter the cost, you've already burned our houses and killed our people why are you doing this Harmon!?" silence filled the air only leaving the sound of fire scorching and killing any remaining cries for help.

Harmon: "It's nothing personal Nuri but the Yurisaki clan is becoming a threat to the nation." He then gripped his sword and quickly moved towards Nuri's right side taunting him to strike.

Harmon: "So they sent us here to deal with you, meaning that your son will have to die here with you!" Harmon lunged at him aiming for his stomach but was met with Nuri's blade.

The blades collided forcing Harmon to step back but this didn't falter him. He charged at Nuri again but aimed for his head. Nuri was quick and managed to block the side swing Harmon threw at him. The blades deflected each other pushing back both Nuri and Harmon.

The ring of samurai began to step backward creating more space for the two as their fight continued. They both briefly stood there staring at one another waiting for their next move. Harmon once again lunged at Nuri but his blade was deflected, slowly becoming annoyed Harmon repeatedly struck at Nuri. Nuri struggled to combat each strike as Harmon tirelessly pushed against him. Their blades once again collided but this time held at an aggressive standstill.

Nuri struggled to keep the standstill at bay as it forced his left knee to the ground while Harmon applied more pressure.

Harmon: "Now I will show you Hell's Song!" his blade engulfed itself in fire setting out to break the standstill.

Nuri's eyes widen in surprise as the attack was sure to kill him. But his reaction was quick, small flickers of lightning began to seep around Nuri's body. With a surge of lightning, the blades creased off each other, and Nuri quickly appeared behind Harmon. Kicking him and slicing up the air sending a wave of lightning after him.

Harmon flew toward the ground only getting a brief chance to slightly look up before the lighting wave threw him passed his men creating an opening within the ring. Nuri quickly rushed back over to his wife and her protector.

Nuri: "Why are you still here, run you two. NOW!" They stared at him in shock and then darted through the opening as Nuri fought the remaining samurai that rushed after them.

The protector, Yura clapped her hands together creating a shield of water around the three of them as they started running off.

Harmon picked himself up and looked over to Yura and Nuri's wife running off while carrying the baby in her arms. He then looked over to Nuri's battle with the rest of his men thinking for a quick moment and ran off toward the women. As Harmon caught up with the two he ignited his blade raising it above his head and forcing it down.

Harmon: "Hell's song, dancing dragon!" The fire dragon roared off the tip of the blade and struck against Yuna's shield making a loud explosion.

Harmon laughed menacingly and began walking towards the smoke cloud. As the smoke fizzled out Yura came into view with blood dripping from the top of her forehand and burn marks on her hand. Despite her injuries, she began moving into a defense stance waiting for Harmon to strike.

Harmon: "How foolish, if you can't block one attack without bleeding then what makes you think you can fight me head-on?" Harmon walked to her slowly with a steady guard allowing there to be no openings for her to strike.

Yura clapped her hands together and made another shield around the three of them leaving a small opening out of Harmon's sight.

Yura: Run lady Rose, before he catches on." Yura whispered her words while focusing on Harmon.

Rose picked herself up making sure the baby didn't fall out of her arms then ran out of the gap in Yura's shield. Harmon notices the movement and quickly lunges after her but Yuna stops him in his tracks.

Harmon: " And I was going to let you live." he swung his katana making contact with what he thought was her hands but only sliced through water that slid off her fingertips. With every swing at her instead of blood only water dropped to the ground. Harmon swung for her hand but quickly changed his blade's direction and grazed her stomach. Yura jumped back and changed her stance.

Harmon: " I've figured you out." Upon hearing those words she realized she was too late, as she moved her arms up Harmon came in front of her and tried piercing her stomach. She blocked the katana turning her arm completely into water. Harmon smirked as his left arm ablaze struck her across the face, and he then pulled his katana from Yura's arm.

Yura was knocked to the ground with immeasurable pain, before she could get back up Harmon already landed his finishing blow. On her knees, Yuna stood with Harmon's sword embedded through her stomach.

Harmon: "things could've been different had you just dropped to the ground in the beginning." He said as he pulled his Katana out of her, watching as she coughed up blood and fell to the ground.

Nuri finished off the last of Harmon's samurai, standing in exhaustion and then pulling out his katana from one of the warriors. Nuri looked over seeing Yura's body lying on the ground.

Nuri: "Yura!!" He flickered over to her but he could already see he was too late as he began picking up her body.

Nuri: " Yura... I'm sorry, I'm sorry you had to go like this." he slowly closed her eyes and gently placed her body down.

Harmon approached slowly dragging Rose by her hair and the baby in his left arm. Harmon: "Let's wrap this up, Nuri!"

Nuri frightens, he thought that his wife and child had gotten away but there they stood as Harmon propped Rose up.

Harmon: "I told you, they were going to die here with you." Harmon drew his katana and pointed it at Rose.

Harmon: " Well choose, and I'll kill the other one after I'm done with you" Smiling as he pointed the Katana back and forth between the two.

Nuri was numbed by the decision staring hatefully at Harmon's smile. He thought to himself looking for an opening and thinking of possible moves to make at Harmon, only coming down to one conclusion.

Harmon grew impatient.

Harmon: "Since you can't make a decision then I'll make one for you." Harmon threw the baby up and kicked Rose forward and stabbed her through the chest.

Nuri tried to stop the blade but was too late as for once his lightning flicker was too slow. He appeared in front of Harmon as he was pulling his katana out of Rose. All in one swift move Nuri kicked Harmon, catching his child, and flickered just in time to stop Rose's body from dropping to the ground.

Nuri wrapped the baby up tighter and gently placed down his wife. She was still alive coughing up blood and gasping for Nuri's name.

Nuri: "Yes my love?" he leaned in to hear her last words, and upon them, a single tear trickled down his cheek. He closed Rose's eyes and placed the baby once again in her arms.

Nuri: "I'll come back for him.. I'll come back for you both." He gave a grim smile as he looked at them. Then turned back to Harmon as he slowly approached Nuri.

Nuri: "let's end this Harmon, I have a request to fill." Nuri picked up his katana and pointed it a Harmon, mimicking their first encounter.

Harmon: " Well then, Let's get this party started shall we?" They both lunged forward at other. Going back and forth no matter how hard the blades collided, neither of them gave up.

Their blades struck one another pushing them back, they stared at each other evenly matched in their swordsmen ship. Nuri flickered to Harmon's left side but Harmon blocked it. Nuri flickered to all of Harmon's sides, Harmon threw his sword down and clapped his hands together. A Flaming shield appeared blocking all of Nuri's attacks.

Harmon created an X with his arms and fire flared around him.

Harmon: "Now come at me with your all!" The fire erupted and Nuri got in position.

Two tears ran down Nuri's cheeks, turning golden as raw energy flowed throughout all of his body. Both of their energies shined bright enough temporarily lighting up the entire area as the sky roared and at the sound of the thunderstrike they pounce at each other.

Harmon transformed into a dragon darting toward Nuri and breathing fire. it wasn't the fire that was the attack it was Harmon himself, the entire dragon was the attack. Nuri stood briefly and then in a sparkling flash he appeared in front of the ferocious beast. Before it could attack him he flashed all around the best leaving golden orbs around it. Nuri then landed on the ground and snapped his fingers and all of the orbs at once shot beams of light.

In one instance the dragon was completely decimated, and only Harmon's torso and above remained.

Nuri: "You're lucky that much of you remained, I didn't want to use this because of its cost but it's well worth it." He said this as he slowly watched Harmon's body begin to turn into gold dust.

Then walked over to his wife's lifeless body and took the baby from her arms.

Nuri: "Your mother has made a request for me child, the Yurisaki's clan light is the new hope for the next generation. My son may it shine for you just as it did for me." Nuri said this as he picked up his son, he wiped off his face and got into a half-crouched position.

The sun started to set and you could see all the damage he had taken, he had blood coming from his face and deep cuts on his chest. In his half-crouched position, he kissed his wife goodbye, and then in a golden flash left, moving throughout the woods only stopping at a nearby village.

Nuri had stopped at the last place that he knew could save his child. He brushed the blood from the side of his face and smiled with his body exhausted and the presence of his power slowly fading away.

Nuri: "I'm sorry my son but our time together is short-lived, I wish I could show you a different part of this world... But this is what fate has brought us to." His smile perked up as he looked up to the rising of the sun and then back to the baby.

He sat the baby down and knocked on the door as loud as he could four times. He kissed his son on the forehead and started to walk off in the distance until he disappeared leaving his son and never looking back.
