Ginny noticed the hesitant look on Lily's face after seeing the missed call. However, she couldn't see who called from the angle she was sitting in.
"Is it a business call? You should take the call. If it's inconvenient, I can leave the room. I know some information needs to be kept confidential even if I have zero brain cells for business." Ginny kindly suggested. The heavy weight on her chest had loosened up a lot. She also felt that she needed some fresh air to clear up her mind after crying.
Though her eyes appeared puffy, she appeared much better than before.
"N-" Lily wanted to refute her, but Lin Que's message interrupted her thoughts. She saw two messages on her phone.
Lin Que: When you see this message, give me a call back. Urgent!
Lin Que: If Ginny is by your side, walk away to call.
"Just give me a minute, Ginny. I'll be quick. You don't have to leave the room." Lily reassured her as she walked over to her desk and dialed back Lin Que's number.
"Lily!" Lin Que picked up almost instantly.
"Yes, you mentioned it was urgent. It better be as urgent as needing to use the restroom after holding it in for two hours." Lily lowered her voice slightly with her eyes fixated on Ginny.
"Is Ginny near you? If yes, say business proposal. If no, say the project is canceled." Lin Que knew that the girls had plans tonight, which was why he wanted to hang out with Alan. However, Alan had just gotten into an argument with Ginny and told him about their issues. After listening, he thought that the couple needed to talk it out.
As Alan wished to see Ginny tonight, Lin Que decided to help his buddy out and call Lily to see if they could meet for dinner.
"Business proposal." Lily answered.
"Is she at a safe distance from listening to our call? Yes or no?" Lin Que asked.
"Yes." Lily sensed that there is a way faster way to this conversation than the sloth mode they were currently speaking on. She wished she could fly over to their location and figure out what was going on.
"So, this idiot Alan said some stupid things and did some irresponsible things as well..Ginny got very frustrated. In other words, these two got into a fight and he is feeling incredibly bad about it. He wants to meet with Ginny to sort things out tonight." Lin Que gave Alan a few hard slaps on his back when he mentioned a summary of everything that he had just heard.
It was so hard that Alan choked on his saliva.
"Oh, well I'm interested, but the parties involved may differ in ideas. We need everyone to agree to make the best outcome out of the proposal. Don't you think?" She purposely chose these words to avoid Ginny's suspicion.
"Lily!" Ginny let out a long whisper to catch Lily's attention. She even raised her arm in the air and waved to make sure Lily heard her. When she got Lily's attention, she quickly told her what she wanted.
Ginny explained in a low volume. "I want to go grab some stomach medicine for hotpot later. I'm not in a good mood and definitely not planning to run into your fiancé any time soon for emergency care. Oh, my jacket sleeve is also dirtied because I smudged makeup on it earlier. I'll borrow your cardigan. Hehe, we sure have similar tastes in clothing. Look at how we are mismatching colors."
Lily noticed it as well. Their outfits were literally the same color block, but different accessories. "Okay, then hurry back. Don't get lost along the way. We can go eat as soon as you're back."
"I'm going now! The supermarket is what? Like a five minutes walk? I'll be back within 15 to 20 minutes. Let me know if you want some snacks to fill your cabinet." Ginny waved goodbye and exited the office.
"Alright, she left for the supermarket. I don't know if she wants to see Alan right now, but if you really want to bring him for dinner, you can meet us at my company's parking lot. She went out to grab some stuff from the supermarket. She will be back in around 15 to 20 minutes." Lily took the estimated time that Ginny just said and gave it to the guys.
"No problem. From where we are at, it will take around that amount of time to get there anyway." Lin Que gave Alan an okay gesture as he ended the call with Lily.
Lily sighed and sat by her desk as she waited for everyone's arrival. After a few minutes passed, she realized something was on her table.
"Crap, she forgot her wallet! How could she buy anything without cash when the supermarket is cash-only?!" Lily quickly dialed Ginny's number and pressed the elevator. However, Ginny's phone kept ringing with no answer.
She frowned at the thought that Ginny must've been too busy walking around the supermarket that she didn't realize her phone was on silent mode. As soon as the elevator opened, Lily hopped into it and pressed for the parking lot.
During her elevator ride, she tried texting and calling Ginny repeatedly. However, Ginny never responded to her. A strange yet unsettling feeling stirred in her chest. She felt as if something bad was going to happen. As soon as these thoughts clouded her mind, she shook her head to clear it up.
"No way. She must be busy looking at the newest chips in the supermarket that she didn't check her phone. That must be it. That must be-"
Ding
The elevator door opened.
"Ahhh!!!!" A sharp agonizing scream echoed from the parking lot as soon as Lily stepped out of the elevator. Her eyes widened as she turned to see Ginny pressed against the wall with a man in an army green outfit leaning toward her. The man had his hand wrapped around an object and rapidly, a red stain spread on Ginny's white top. A sharp blade had penetrated Ginny's abdomen and it looked really bad.
"Hey, what are you doing?! Let her go!" Lily shouted as she dialed for emergency care. The call went through almost immediately while Lily rushed over to separate the man from her. Fortunately, she had her earphone in her ear. As she focused on attacking the man, she had reported the attack over the call.
