Throughout the rest of the evening, Meng Meng's phone was spammed with hundreds of messages from her girlfriends. The more she read them, the more she rolled her eyes and replied back rudely.
"Rude bitches actually had the audacity to come to my face and tell me they are prettier than I am. Hah! What did they not understand? I am the bride of the day and nobody should take my spotlight. How could they be this unreasonable? And to think they were my friends. Fine, then don't even come to my wedding. I don't need nasty people who just want fame at my party anyway! Hmph!!!!"
Meng Meng ranted at the dinner table and texted back every other minute. While she replied furiously, Hawk started feeding her little by little.
"Hmph! I will be able to find better people to attend my wedding as my bridesmaid and maid of honor. I will even make a speech for them to speak and I am the nicest person of all time! You guys are the rude ones and disrespectful brats! Who the hell is the spoiled pampered bitch now? How dare they?"
After an hour of replying back to messages, her phone ran out of battery. Hawk took the opportunity to remove the phone from her sight and hugged her to coax her. "Baby, don't get mad. Your friends are just jealous that you get to marry better and earlier than they do. They are the ones who are despicable. if you want, we can look for other girls. If not, we can eliminate these roles so it will only be us that day."
"Really? We can?" Meng Meng looked at him in astonishment. Considering the Fu family's status, she thought it would be quite difficult for them to not follow the procedures for weddings. Although this is a private wedding, many valuable guests were attending.
Therefore, she didn't want to appear haggardly in front of them. She thought Hawk would want everything perfectly the way other weddings are like. However, his response really surprised her.
"It's our wedding, baby. Who needs these extra roles when all we need is the bride and the groom there? Guests are only there as part of the ceremony and to congratulate us. It's fine. I don't want my wife to stress out and fight with people over this. You only need to be the prettiest girl that day." Hawk planted a kiss on her forehead and fed her a spoonful of soup.
"En! My husband is the best!!!" Meng Meng drank from the spoon and threw herself into his arms for a tight hug.
In a blink of an eye, a month passed and it was the day of the wedding. That morning, Meng Meng woke up extra early to apply cosmetics on her face. Due to previous plastic surgeries, the operation left minor scars on her face. Without the thick layers of foundation and powder, the creases around her lips, forehead, and eyes would be evidently visible.
Like always, she started preparing by moisturizing her face followed by slapping heavy colors and foundation on her skin. When she was finished, her face looked plastic and still even with the amount of highlight and bronzes she applied. She applied excessive amounts of eyeshadow on her eyelids that it could compare to a peacock.
Looking at the luxurious wedding dress in front of her, she felt her dreams coming true. She felt like a princess and her prince will be protecting her from now till forever. Unlike most weddings where bridesmaids and the maid of honor would stay by the bride's side, Meng Meng didn't have anyone.
At first, she did have a few girlfriends who accepted her invitation to play the roles of bridesmaid and maid of honor. However, as she became more and more self-conscious of her own appearance with previous operation scars, she started requesting and nitpicking the girls.
In the end, every one of her girlfriends decided to quit their roles and not attend her wedding. Never had they ever encountered such a nasty bride with such requests. Her words did not sound nice to their ears and the way Meng Meng picked out their insecurities about their own bodies made it worse.
Therefore, there were no girlfriends from the bride's side for today's wedding. To match her, Hawk also had no buddies attend his wedding. When the time arrived, Meng Meng's father knocked on the resting room door and hooked out his arm.
"Are you ready, princess?" He smiled at his daughter.
The wedding was held at a public chapel where the minister stood on the stage with Hawk standing beside him. Benches were decorated with simple ribbons and bows. The red carpet from the entrance to the end of the aisle awaited the bride's arrival.
Although it appeared fancy, if one were to observe it carefully, the entire place was rather rundown. The benches were recently painted with brown paint and barely dried. These benches were chipped and the paint was used to cover up the old condition.
There were little to no decorations and the red carpet was leaning more towards a deep velvet color. Lint and dust covered most of the carpet, however, nobody noticed it because their attention was fixated on the legendary young master of the Fu family.
Everyone turned their heads, looking for the prestigious Fu family, but they couldn't see any members from that family. Disappointed by what they saw, they began questioning whether the Fu family was really attending the wedding today. According to what Meng Meng's family said when passing the wedding invitations out, they mentioned the young master Fu from the Fu family was the groom.
This was the main reason why most people were here today! However, the Fu family was nowhere to be seen!!
