Chapter 83 - Dad's Text

Ginny and Alan's call ended earlier than expected since she has to go to the office early the next morning. Neither of them wanted to hang up.

Ginny: "I have work tomorrow morning."

Alan: "Awww, then you better rest well. Talk to you tomorrow?"

Ginny: "Mm. I'll text you in the morning."

Alan: "Okay. I wouldn't want my girlfriend to have panda eyes at work, so I'll hang up now. Sweet dreams!"

Ginny: "Okay. Sweet dreams to you too. Don't stay up too late."

Beep

After their call had finished, she looked at Lily with envy. 'I wish I could talk longer. Oh wells, maybe on a Friday night!' Instead of interrupting Lily's call, she wiggled and bent her fingers to let Lily know that she was going to take a shower first.

Reading her self-explanatory sign language, Lily curved her index finger to form an O shape with her thumb. Not long after Ginny had entered the bathroom, Lily received a text from her dad.

Lily: "Hold on, my dad sent me a text."

Lin Que: "Okay."

He was thinking about inviting her to his father's birthday party just now. Since the person who interrupted their conversation was her dad, he couldn't complain. How would he dare complain about his future father-in-law's text? Even if she had to ditch the call to answer her dad's call, he would be fine with it.

Lily: "I'm back."

Lin Que: "Is everything good?"

Lily: "Yeah. My dad is coming back in approximately two weeks. Ah, right! To make him rest his mind about who I'm dating, I told him I would introduce you at our family dinner when he comes back. Is that okay with you?"

While he was wondering if she would feel comfortable enough to attend his father's party, she smoothly spoke her thoughts about greeting her parents officially. When he heard her words, he was a bit shocked. His elbow slipped on the table surface and almost made him smash his chin against it.

Lily didn't get a response from him. Worried it might be too quick for him to meet her father, she gave him a second option. "If you're busy or not ready to meet him, I will understand. Let me know if it is too inconvenient for you."

Lin Que: "What does your father like? Does he like tea? My parents are tea lovers, so I know where I could get the best quality products. What about your mom? Cosmetics? Spas?"

Lily scratched her head, "Wait, wait. Why are you thinking about gifts?"

Lin Que: "It's my first time meeting them! Of course, I have to leave a good impression. I'm thinking if two weeks is enough to get the gifts. Tell me what kind of clothes I should wear for the dinner. A suit? Something semi-casual?"

Lily couldn't help her giggles and let it flow through the microphone to his ears. "Relax. You can come in regular clothes. It's not like I'm from some super-rich ass family with strict parents who would forcibly separate us from the way you dress! As for gifts, my dad likes tea. My mom likes Primavera's rainbow pastries. You don't have to bring anything, though. It's a simple dinner."

Noting down on a piece of paper everything she mentioned, Lin Que quickly chugged down a cup of warm water to calm down. "Sorry if I'm overreacting. This is actually the first time I'm worried over meeting someone's parents. You're my first...girlfriend, so I can't risk any mistakes. I want to leave a good impression to your dad."

"Pffft! You sound as if you've prepared dowries and are asking him for my hand in marriage. Hahahaha, my dad already joked about it to me. But the way you are thinking a lot about it makes me feel happy. This shows how much you care about our relationship." Lily smiled pleasingly at the thought of an upcoming harmonious family dinner.

It's been a while since she had sat down with her parents and Ginny for dinner. Due to their busy schedules, her parents rarely found the right time to come back together. This time, she was looking forward to eating with her family and boyfriend!

Lin Que's tone expressed his seriousness and sincerity for their relationship. "Lily, from the moment we've met, I've never played around with you. I'm very happy you trust me enough to introduce me to your family. I want to leave the best image of me in your parent's mind."

Hearing his sudden confession made her heart tickle. True words do not need to be said all the time. Words can be said every day, but actions convey a whole lot more. At this moment, she felt warmth spread through her body as if he was embracing her with his arms. He melted her heart completely.

"Mm, I believe you. I, too, take you seriously. If you ever want me to meet your parents, I will also prove to them that I can take good care of you." Lily's words lingered in his mind for a while before he snapped back to reality.

"Actually, my dad's birthday is in three weeks. He wants me to bring you to the party. His birthday is on May 22nd. Are you free to join us? It's a dinner party, so it would be scheduled around 7 P.M." He didn't sound nervous since he already got her word just now about meeting his parents.

"Ah! Why didn't you tell me earlier? Now I really have to get a present! I'll go to your father's birthday party with you. I can't miss out on such an important date." Lily quickly marked her calendar and asked him about gift suggestions. Since he had previously mentioned his parents being tea lovers, she decided to bring a rare, traditional tea set as his gift.

Ginny leaned against the wall with her arms crossed. "You sound like you are meeting your in-laws."

When she said these words, Lily and Lin Que both laughed into the phone. Her description matched them too well.

Lin Que asked, "Oh, right. Are you planning to deal with Chu Entertainment soon?" He had his plans on his mind, but wanted to make sure her actions wouldn't interfere with what he wanted to do.

"Yep. I've already asked my father's secretary to send the rejected proposal this evening. I'm expecting him to explode in fury and come up to the office any day now. After dealing with him, I can spend my free time relaxingly with my parents while they're here." She smiled thoughtfully as a great war was about to begin. Victory smelled extra fragrant as she could already predict her enemy's failure expression.
