Chapter 80 - Investment Rejection 1

Tapping her heels loudly for each step she made out of the director's office, Lily revealed her dominant nature. Though she had been uninterested in taking over her family business, she was still the young miss of Jiang family. Since young, she's been pampered and treated like a mighty queen. She knew right from wrong and was always independent.

Her father had always taught her about living in the society and interacting with others. Of course, she took each lesson and word of his seriously. She treated everyone respectfully and stayed away from gossips. Unless someone provokes her or uses underhanded methods to cause her harm, she would never show her true colors.

Like a powerful, arrogant CEO, her heel clacks alone could make others froze on their spots. The staff looked at Lily, whose aura was frightening enough to leave them in shock. They've never seen her act this way in the company.

Director Chu was infuriated by her behavior and quickly did as he said he would do. Within the next half-hour, everyone received the news of Lily being blacklisted. All jobs she had accepted given to other models.

Sofia walked closely behind and tried convincing Lily to change her mind as it would affect her career greatly. Lily shook her head and replied. "If an employer doesn't know how to respect their employee's basic rights, then this company is trash. There is no point in staying. He can throw me into the freezer and give me no jobs for the rest of the year. When the contract is up, I can officially resign. Since he is playing low, I can play with him."

As Lily started her car, she rolled down the windows to exchange some words with Sofia. "Sofia, you've managed me since I first started this career. Since he dares to challenge my bottom line, then I won't let him off easily. He will regret it and perhaps I will terminate my contract before the year even ends."

After speaking her mind, Lily drove out of the parking lot. Lily hesitated to call her father at first, but proceeded with the call because it was morning time overseas. Knowing her father as a workaholic, he would have his phone on silent mode if he had something important going on. Therefore, calling him wouldn't hurt.

Within the first ring, he picked up.

"Hi dad!" She sounded cheerful as the last time she had time to talk to him was when her mother visited.

"Hey sweetheart, it's rare for you to call me. Did you finally miss me more than your mom? Hahaha" She smiled hearing her father's gentle voice and her mother saying something in the background. At this time, her mother should be making breakfast for two.

"Dad, I always miss you two. I can't wait to see you guys too. You'll never know. Maybe I can give you guys a surprise visit out of nowhere." She chuckled as she thought of her upcoming empty schedule. Initially, Lily had wanted to take a short trip to visit her parents. She was thinking of calling off work for a week after handling her current sponsorships, but no need to care about work now.

"What? You silly girl, don't you have work to attend? I wouldn't want you to come here when you have a pack schedule. Your mother is saying the same thing." His tone was half strict and half joy as he heard her desires to see them.

"I know. When have I ever failed you? Dad, I've finished reviewing the main proposals you've sent to me and approved some of them. After some research, I believe there were better candidates in terms of business ethics and conditions." Grinning, Lily recited the few proposals she had purposely left aside when dealing with Jiang Corporations' upcoming investment projects.

The more important ones had been dealt with. On the contrary, the smaller projects were regular investments her father wanted to make in the entertainment industry. Even though she had mentioned not wanting his support in her career, she knew his father had found multiple opportunities to invest in Chu Entertainment.

Whenever she brought this topic up, he would tell her it wasn't for her because there were auditions for every resource he provided for. Naturally, if she wanted a role, she would have to prove herself to end up selected. He was truthful since he has never given her the jobs directly. Unless the resources he had provided truly caught her interest, or else she wouldn't attend the audition for it.

In the beginning, she saw it as a profit for both companies. After doing deeper research, she found proof of better candidates for these resources. In recent years, Chu Entertainment had failed to obtain any big awards. Even without today's incident, she wouldn't have agreed with continuing investment with Chu Entertainment.

Instead, she had come across a few proposals from more promising companies. Hearing his daughter's words, a smile grew on his face as he listened to her explanation.

"Dad, Chu Entertainment does not qualify nor show any promising future for their artists. The resources we could provide them will not match up to the estimated profits we expect to see. For example, during the national awards, Starlight Entertainment and Mooning Entertainment have taken away at least three major awards. I haven't counted the number of artists' under their entertainments who received smaller awards yet."

"Still better than the Chu Entertainment I am under that didn't even get a nomination. You've invested in the same management company and given them two years to bring the statuses up, but no improvements are visible. I believe Moonlight Entertainment or Starlight Entertainment should be chosen. Their proposals are definitely better. I hope you could consider them before making the final decision."

Business is business. In her opinion, Chu Entertainment was a laughing stock. If it weren't for her popularity for many projects and gaining the trust for endorsements, many resources would have been given to other companies already. There was a reason why Director Chu desperately wanted to tie her under a full-time contract.

One of the main reasons was because he was afraid she would jump over to a rival company. At the end of the day, she had already decided to not approve the investments to Chu Entertainment. Now, she was a hundred and one percent sure she would not allow Jiang Corps to work with this company.

"Lily, are you sure about this? Chu Entertainment hasn't been doing well lately. Without my investments, it may suffer a huge loss and lead to chances of bankruptcy. You might lose your job. I do see what you are saying and am very happy you were honest with your choices." He wanted to continue speaking, but was cut off by Lily's words.

"Dad, I've been sure about it ever since I read the proposals. I never thought Chu Entertainment had the capability to earn any profits. If it is not a profitable business, then there is nothing to discuss. Besides, Director Chu has challenged me. I have logical reasons to reject his proposal for both personal and business perspectives."

With her capabilities, she knew her father would not be worried about her. Still, she did not want him to invest in a failing company for her sake. When she first began working in Chu Entertainment, she had come to an agreement with her father about telling him everything at work. Of course, this only refers to how she was being treated by people from higher positions.

He knew how dirty the entertainment circle could be. To protect her from disgusting old men who lust over newbies, he agreed to keep her identity a secret under that one condition. Right now, she was indeed being threatened.

"What do you mean by he challenged you?" His tone stricken as he heard her response.
