After leaving the ballroom, Lin Que held Lily's hand as they walked over to his car. Throughout the short walk, she had many questions she didn't even know which to ask first. She kept looking at the man beside her to make sure she didn't get kidnapped or accidentally kidnapped a stranger.
However, when she opened her mouth to say something, it would close on its own. Lin Que cooperated with her silence as he understood how confused she would be after finding out his identity.
Finally, she stopped when they reached his car and turned towards him. Pressing her lips together, she squinted, forcing her eye bags to appear. She let go of his hand and touched his face. Similar to children fulfilling their curiosity, she started caressing and squeezing his cheeks.
"Lily, what are you doing?" He didn't know whether he wanted to laugh at her expression or cry from being treated like a plush toy.
Rubbing his cheeks, she said, "It's warm. So, you're real."
Letting her palms rest on his cheeks, he wrapped her in his arms. She blinked twice as if she was waiting for his confirmation.
"I'm real."
"So, I'm not dreaming?"
"Have you ever met such a handsome guy in your dreams?" He declared, staring straight into her eyes.
"So, you're my darling boyfriend? The doctor at the hospital who imprisoned me for over a week and forced needles into my arms?" She asked again.
"Yes. Who else would I be?" He answered with a nod.
Lowering her head, she rested her forehead against his shirt. His hands began patting her back like he would when she felt upset. "What's wrong?"
The contact on his fingers on her bare skin gave her a shock, making her body shudder. Her movements were minimal, but enough for him to stiffen. "Are you cold?" He asked as he continued brushing his fingers against her skin.
Meeting silence once again, he started panicking. "Did you eat or drink something that's making you feel ill? Here, let me check..."
Leaving a small gap between them, his fingers raised her chin, making her to face upwards. Her cheeks felt warm against the back of his hands.
While he focused on her, she couldn't fight the urge to kiss him anymore! Reaching the back of his nape, his head lowered and her lips conquered his. Her affection came like an unpredictable storm.
His arms froze in air for ten seconds before taking shelter around her waist. The kiss didn't last that long as they became breathless. After the kiss, she laughed happily while hugging him, "Wow! You were so cool just now! You even got Kevin to show up!"
Seeing her liveliness again, his worries flew away. "Wait, but I thought you were a regular doctor at the hospital."
Pinching the tip of her nose, he said, "Just like how you didn't mention your family background... I also felt it wasn't necessary to mention it. I'm a doctor, but I'm also the CEO of Lin Corps."
"Really?" She still couldn't believe what had happened. She wasn't used to someone standing up for her.
"If you want to repeat history, I'm willing to cooperate with you and keep you in the hospital for another two weeks. What do you think?" Poking her forehead, he pulled the handle to the door on the passenger seat side.
"I believe you! No need to waste more pen ink and trees to prove your point." She hopped into the passenger seat and buckled her seatbelt.
"Okay. Okay. I'll stop teasing you. Be good and sit still. I'll bring you somewhere." He said as he started driving down the road.
"Where are we going?" Annoyed by the notification messages, she turned her phone on silent mode. Putting her phone in her purse, she sniffed the roses on her lap and smiled.
"You'll know when we get there." Along the way, they chatted about their family background and realized many similarities between them. For instance, their parents didn't care about them taking over the family business as long as they are happy with what they do.
Lin Que decided to pursue a medical career while managing the company. On the other hand, Lily told her parents to give her two years to do what she wants. After that, she will learn how to manage a company.
Approximately twenty minutes later, they arrived at the destination. After getting out of the car, Lily spun around slowly and saw only streetlights.
"Follow me." He said as he held her hands and led her towards a wooden bridge with balloons tied to the side. As they made each step, automatic lights lit up. Her eyes wandered around the field around them with no other lights anywhere.
When he stopped walking and pointed in front of them, he said, "We're here." Looking up, she saw a wooden lattice summer house with a table in the center, two chairs and dishes covered on it. Pulling the seat out for her, he smiled, "Welcome to Lin Que's kitchen."
Switching on the two battery candles on the table, he lifted the cover off the hot dishes. "I'm not sure what foods you like, so I asked your mom about it. She told me you liked homemade food the most and gave me some pointers. This is the first time I've cooked for a girl, so I hope you'll like it."
"You cooked all these?" She looked at the mouthwatering dishes on the table with a sense of familiarity.
"Mhmm. After we eat, I have something else to show you." he said as he took a piece of vegetable and placed it on her plate.
"Okay." While she ate the vegetable on her plate, he filled the empty glasses with rose champagne. Slowly, she tasted every dish in front of her.
"How is it? Do you like it?" He asked after not receiving any feedbacks from her. Swallowing the chicken in her mouth, she smiled with reddened eyes.
"It's delicious. I haven't tasted these dishes for a very long time. Lin Que, thank you. Thank you for doing all this." Few droplets of tears fell from the corner of her eyes as she pressed her lips together.
Handing her a piece of tissue, he smiled, "I'm glad you like it. Eat more. From now on, if you want homemade food, I'll make any dishes you want." Putting more food on her plate, he remembered what Toby said when she gave him the recipes.
Toby: "You want to know what Lily likes to eat? Since it's your first date, it should be extra special. I have a few dishes that her grandmother used to make for her. After her grandma past away, she never touched these dishes again."
Lin Que: "What if she doesn't eat it?"
Toby: "She will. Because she opened up to you. You're her boyfriend. She won't waste your efforts. I'll send you the recipes. You just need to make sure it's edible."
A small chuckle left his mouth as he recalled her words. He mumbled in a low voice, "I'm quite a good cook. I just needed to know the right dishes to win her stomach."
"What are you thinking about? You look very happy."
"I'm happy because you're happy. Are you full?" He asked while smiling.
"Yep. I'm full."
"Then let's take a walk. I have something I want to show you." After wiping his lips, he stood up and held out his hand.
Nodding, she grabbed his hand and followed his lead.
