Chapter 29 - I'm Interested In You 1

Awkwardly complying to her request, she gasped and pointed, "You're the Tuxedo Mask from the Convention!!! That's where I saw you before!"

Amidst the conflicting mood he was facing at the moment, he maintained a poker face as if her sudden appearance hadn't interrupted his work. "Then I suppose we must have met at the Convention. Can you remind me what character you were cosplaying that day?"

Crossing his arms with a medical chart in one hand, he waited for her response. He looked patient, but probably had something urgent to take care of as his body language exposed him already. Instead of answering his question, she said, "I heard you made Lily think about you two's first meeting. Since you made her, think, I'll have you do the same."

The elevator door opened, and she waved goodbye to him, "See you tomorrow, Doctor Lin."

"How do you know whether I'll be on shift tomorrow?" He asked curiously as he tapped the board with his fingers.

"Because Lily is here." Ginny wiggled her fingers while grinning trickily at him as the elevator door closed. For a second there, she had pondered whether she should expose her identity during the Convention.

Standing in a third person's perspective, her instincts told her he was interested in Lily, but had yet made a move. 'Pfft, he probably doesn't have her number yet. I'll have him eat some vinegar while remembering the Convention date Lily had with me.'

Playful thoughts filled her mind as the elevator reached the lobby. Upon stepping out, she saw Toby waiting at the register counter. "Auntie, I'm done. Let's go."

Toby looked up from her phone, "Yes. I'll talk to you later. Mhmm. I'll update you about Lily's condition every day until she is discharged. Alright, go back to the meeting. Don't worry about Lily. I'll have her call you later. Mm. Bye."

"Was that Uncle?" Linking her arm with Toby's; they walked towards the exit to the parking lot.

"Yep. I didn't tell him Lily was in the hospital because he would overreact. He found out when he hadn't seen her during our video chats at night. I had to tell him the truth at the end. By the way, did something good happen? You look more cheerful than before." She asked as she caught the jolly mood she was in.

"Nothing~ I found something super interesting."

"Oh? What could interest you so much for you to skip as you walk?"

"It's a novel I'm planning to set up. A lovely romance between a raw potato guy and sweet potato girl. Hehe." Since she wasn't sure about Lily's opinion on starting a new relationship right after dumping an asshole, she didn't want to get anyone's hopes up. Naturally, she would let the two self-explore on their own.

While hopping to her vehicle, a cling sound banged against the curvy stone ground, catching her attention immediately. Her eyes followed the dropped rings on the floor as her body bent forward to pick it up. "My rings!"

Slapping one ring flat against the ground with one hand, the other ring continued rolling forward. Not too far away, a car had flashed its lights, waiting to make a turn.

"No!" She screamed in terror when she felt her heart had stopped beating when she witnessed her parent's wedding ring running away from her. If that car runs over it, the ring may end up flatter than her chest!

Her chest heaved heavily as she made her last efforts to reach the ring. Her knees weakened from an old injury, causing her to stop in track and stumble to the ground. Tears clouded her eyes as she watched the ring roll further away. Toby caught up to her and asked if she was alright.

All she cared about right now was the other ring that escaped. Pointing towards that direction, she muttered, "My ring.. Auntie. My ring.."

"Alright, stay here. I'll go get it." Taking off her three-inch heels, she ran barefooted to catch up to the ring. Unfortunately, the driver suddenly did a sharp turn and startled Toby greatly. The vehicle passed by so quickly that if she bent a bit further, she might have received an injury.

Patting against her racing heart, she realized the ring was nowhere in sight anymore. Ginny quickly caught up to her and checked to make sure the car didn't hurt her anywhere before proceeding to look for her ring.

Pulling her thick hair backwards, she tied it into a ponytail. Terribly frustrated by her lost ring, tears blurred her vision, making her shaky hands rub her eyes repeatedly. "Ah!" She blinked rapidly as her contact lenses had relocated in her eyes; inflicting sharp irritation in her eyes.

Quickly removing the lenses and putting on her glasses, she continued looking downwards for her ring. "Not here.. Not here.." She murmured to herself.

She didn't pay attention to where she was headed towards and bumped into a man's stomach, "Oof, took a hit."

"I'm so sorry!," She immediately looked up and apologized with her tear-filled eyes.

"Perhaps, you are looking for this?" He opened his palm and presented the perfectly unharmed ring to her face.

"Yes!!! Thank you so much!!" She rubbed the ring against her shirt to clean it and match it to the one she had on her hands. Though her hair was disheveled, and glasses were slightly fogged up, he could tell she was a beauty. The genuine smile she revealed made his heart race faster than a horse's speed. It was more exciting than watching sports car race that he bid on!

Swallowing down the flirting line that he had wanted to blurt out, he could only stutter as he replied, "Y..You're welcome.." Toby didn't know what was happening, but hearing Ginny's cheerful thanks to the young man; she assumed the ring was safe. She sighed in relief as she put back on her heels.

He wanted to talk to her more, but he was going to be late if he did. Therefore, he could only bite his own lip and excuse himself. Settling her crazy emotions, she took off her glasses, loosened the messy hairstyle and turned to his direction.

The spring breeze was a little chilly; it combed her smooth black, silky hair gently. She shouted, "Thank you once again!" Her laughter sounded familiar to his ears as if he had heard it before. He turned around to see her rosebud curved lips and sweet, affectionate eyes. She waved goodbye before walking away.

Even after she was gone, he continued spacing out at the spot where she was last standing. Minutes later, his hand slapped against his chest, where his heart was still beating uncontrollably fast.

His cellphone vibrated on the third ring when he picked it up. He answered, "Hello?"

"You said you were around the corner. It's been like twenty minutes. Even Lin Que finished his round of patients and came to me already!" His friend spoke on the other side of the phone.

"Ah, right. I'll be there. Hey..." His voice lowered.

"What?"

His lips twitched upwards, "Never mind."

"...Lin Que, when Alan gets here, can we crack open his brain and examine it? He's acting weird and saying weird things to me." Hearing his friend's complaints, Alan snapped out of his thought and walked towards the hospital.

"Hey! Hey! I'm still on the call! You're the one who needs a doctor. I'm totally fine." Alan jogged his way to the hospital to meet his friends. His eyes couldn't help but gaze back to that same spot where Ginny had smiled at him. Shaking his head sillily, he entered the hospital.
