They didn't get very far.
Huo Tang was fatigued, clutching her bleeding abdomen with sweat beading on her brow. Though she had taken a restorative pill, it didn't seem to cure all her ailments. The wound healed considerably but her complexion was still much too pale.
They stopped behind a large stone so that Huo Tang might catch her breath, but the monster was not far behind them, with its muzzle to the ground and tearing any life form it came upon from limb to limb. Whether it be birds or deer, or a poor fool who hadn't run far enough, the dragon did not discriminate.
But it was obvious that the creature had some form of intelligence, but ultimately it was searching for Xuelan and Huo Tang.
It was evident with the way it wasn't giving ready chase for men and beasts that fled, continuing its search.
