The corner of Yuan Xuelan vision darkened, seeping in like worms slithering into his ear and around his brain.
Yuan Xuelan hissed in pain, hand instinctively coming up to nurse the offending throb. He could hear his heart pounding, resonating around him. A voice, his own, echoed without mirroring his thoughts.
"That fucking bastard," it hissed. "As if I'll apologize to him!"
Forcefully fighting heavy feeling, Yuan Xuelan focused on his surroundings. The familiar scent of medicinal herbs and the long wooden table cluttered with remedies and pills. But the sunlight that seeped in from outside was painful, spearing through his thoughts.
Again, his voice filled the room, "I should have beaten him down. If only I could be the one to make him apologize instead!"
"Quite the vengeful one, aren't you?" Huo Tang's voice commented from his side. At least she didn't sound nearly as piercing and mind-shattering in tone.
