Rex looked at the three things with a longing expression. He knows how to make potions and pills but someone else's life experience without a doubt would help him a lot, the Soul Tempering pill, if he could get the recipe and sell the pills then not only his earning would increase but he could also strengthen the soul of people around him giving them the strength to face soul cultivators.
The last was the Bottomless Ocean Flame, he could absorb its flame essence but give then it's an essence flame it would be better to give it to someone like Wang Xiu Ying, he also thought of a plan, if it was successful then he could use it to get Lucia.
All three things had an opportunity sealed inside them, how could Rex give it up?
"So how can I buy them?" Rex asked the girl after some thought.
"Guest, it can only be bought through the lottery system. You can write the name of the item you want in these three with the price you are willing to pay below its name, then you just have to fold the paper and put it into the box at the main counter. The item would be sold to the highest bidder, the biding time is always 72 hours and there is still around 12 hours left for this one, so guest can place a bet moreover, the identity and the price of the buyer would be kept secret even after the transaction is complete so there is no need to worry about other people coveting your item," The girl explained.
Olaf remained quiet, the three things were appealing but he knew that in truth they wouldn't do much to him, the water attribute essence flame isn't that compatible with him because as a dwarf he had an innate affinity with fire and earth, soul tempering pill would be good if he was still a youngster and was aiming to be an alchemist or artifact refiner but neither he was young nor did he had any interest in becoming one, as for the memory orb it was the least precious one because the amount of memory he could absorb from it was very low, to make it worse the memory he could absorb was random.
Rex was also thinking about what to do, although he had a lot of money but he wasn't sure to win even one of these things especially when he knew that the people in the capital city of Davalon Kingdom wouldn't be poor and he had already spent quite a bit of money when ordering the material on his list.
'What to do?' Rex was thinking but then he noticed that the surrounding had become quiet, like the crowd around him had disappeared.
He turned and saw everyone was looking at a tall man wearing a white coat, golden frame glasses, a white hat, and a staff in his hand, standing at the door of the inner hall.
The man was quite thin, he didn't look like a dwarf and had slightly pointed ears so Rex concluded that he was probably a half-elf. Furthermore, Rex noticed that the man was staring at him.
"Everyone please continue, I'm just taking a look around," The man said with a slight smile on his face.
Everyone nodded, they again started observing the things around them but this time they were all quiet, the man's polite request felt more like a forced command in Rex's eyes.
The man then walked to him.
"They are good, aren't they?" The man turned his gaze to the three things on the cylindrical platform and said.
'Is he talking to me?' (Rex)
"They would be more good if the customers were allowed to have a test drive," Rex said in a flat tone.
"He... He... If the customers can win the lottery then they could take the whole item home, what's the use of buying them if they could get the test drive," The man said with a smile.
"You see, I'm in a hurry at the moment and don't wish to waste my time for nothing, so why don't you directly talk about what you want?" Rex looked at him expressionlessly.
"Sir here seems quite straightforward, then I will come straight to the point, Are you willing to sell the blue carriage you used to come here?" The man asked without any change in expression.
Olaf on the side slightly frowned but didn't speak, he knew the identity of the man and had no wish to offend him by interrupting their conversation.
'Finally, the bait worked and the fish got caught, let's see how big the fish really is,' Rex thought.
Rex didn't reply for a while, then said.
"Me selling it or not is something that needs to be talked over after we confirm if you have enough money to afford it," Rex said in a slightly prideful tone.
"Can't afford it? Me? Seems like sir here is new to the city, let me introduce myself, I'm Zed, the sole manager of Bond of Steel. You should just name the price, if I can't afford it then there are not many people in the whole city who can afford it," The man chuckled and said.
"Oh, then let me introduce myself too, I'm Rex Andrews, the first Guardian of Frozen Flame, as for the price Mr. Zed you are the manager of such a big shop so why don't you calculate the price yourself?" Rex said without any change in his expression. But inwardly he was excited, what he was seeing wasn't Zed but a golden egg-laying hen that is the key to buying those three items.
Zed touched his chin and pondered for a while, he then extended three fingers.
'Three? It shouldn't be low, so if I'm right even if they see it as a carriage the price should be at least 30,000 Middle-grade spirit stones, that much is more than enough to make around 10 more of these. Now I should tell him about the features to raise the price further,' Rex thought.
Zed saw Rex quietly staring at him and was surprised. He was sure that he had placed a pretty good price, he placed a high price because what he was interested in was the technology used in making the car and not the car itself.
"Mr. Rex I believe 30,000 High-grade spirit stone is more than enough for that carriage, you can't get an offer better than this, if it has something more special than just being able to move without beast pulling it then please enlighten me and we can discuss the price," Zed said when he didn't receive a reply from Rex.
'What? High-grade spirit stones in such a large quantity? Is he crazy?' Rex thought but he still acted calm, he expressionlessly took out a book from inventory and gave it to him.
Zed took the book and looked at its title.
‹Introducing Desert Queen - Model 001: Only Made For The Lovers Of Speed›
Zed raised his eyebrow, he then opened the book and quickly flipped through the pages.
Soon his expression changed, the more he read the more serious he looked, by the end he was stunned.
He expected it to be a cool carriage that just uses some kind of newly discovered special array to work but after reading it he realized that he couldn't be more wrong.
It wasn't a carriage but a moving fortress.
He gave a strange look to Rex, he never thought someone would be daring enough to use the same material that is used to refine a spirit weapon in making a carriage moreover he added spirit rank arrays to fortify its defense, the method and place where the array was installed wasn't mentioned but the energy shield was compared to such an array according to the book.
If that wasn't enough, it had a master recognizing system something akin to an artifact spirit attached to it, Zed directly concluded that the carriage has likely developed sentiments but he simply couldn't believe it.
A tool or weapon developing sentiment would mean it was just one step away from giving birth to the legendary Artifact Spirit.
If it was really correct then there was no doubt that Rex's name will go down in history as the most Wasteful Craftsman, that is, if the Artifact Refiners in the kingdom don't turn him into history after knowing what he did.
If someone manages to make their weapon develop sentiment then their battle power would soar several times, it is something even a Sky Body Formation stage expert would desire. As for artifact spirit, this type of thing is already seen as a fake story these days.
Fortunately, after reading till the end he realized that the thing was only similar but wasn't the one he thought it was.
"Mr. Rex before we discuss further, would you mind if I see and verify the things written in the book with my own eyes?" Zed asked. What he meant was we should go down and let me check the carriage myself.
Rex's lips curled upwards, he was waiting for this.
"Okay no problem, let me show you," He said then switched on his smart band.
"System open the Desert Queen - Model 001 folder and show me the successful test drive videos in series," Rex used voice command instead of doing it manually.
Suddenly a big holographic window appeared in midair.
[Understood host, please wait a moment.]
A few notifications appeared before a video started playing, it was showing the defensive ability of the car against attacks, but the surprising thing was that the weapons used to attack the car included ray weapons that the people of this kingdom have never seen.
Rex was not only showing the defense of the car but the unfathomable technology of Frozen Flame. He wasn't worried about being attacked for these things, a person who acts low key while showing high profile things is usually the one who becomes the target of greedy people. Rex had shown a high profile since entering the city, letting the onlookers wonder about his background hence no one would like to carelessly attack him without knowing what force was behind him.
The example of Sword Emperor who annihilated a whole Evil Alliance in one night was still deeply rooted in everyone's hearts.
The people in the hall who were acting according to Zed's request opened their eyes wide in surprise as they looked at the holographic screen playing a video, they had never seen anything like that. The most they had seen in this field were some image capturing tools that could capture one or two images at a time and store them inside.
They were still much better than Zed, who now looked like a frozen statue.
He had a broad vision and naturally saw more than them, he saw how the bracelet followed Rex's order and did what it was told to do. The shock only increased after he saw the different types of equipment and tools used in the video.
Rex started his presentation, explaining the features and functions of the car.
He also told how the car also has a smart AI just like the bracelet on his arm.
Zed remained silent even after the presentation was over.
"Mr. Rex, are you sure you want to sell it?" He asked in a hesitant tone.
"Yes, so what? I will be launching this model in the market by next year anyway, for now, tell me if you want to buy it or not? Just name your price," Rex said in an annoyed tone.
'Launching in the market?' Zed gulped down his saliva. He felt like if this man really started to put things like that on market then people from Artifact Refining Association have to shut down their business and go into seclusion to escape from the reality.
{I'm willing to pay 3 million Middle-grade spirit stone,} Zed clenched his teeth and sent a message to Rex, he had calculated all his free money assets at hand and put front the maximum price he was willing to offer.
Rex was somewhat shocked but then he soon felt slightly guilty.
He knew that Zed was probably after the technology and if it was him, he would likely have the same motive but Zed was bound to fail, and if later Rex launches the car in the market or gifts one to someone then Zed might feel like he had been tricked.
Rex wasn't thinking of just doing the business at hand and get done with it but wanted to build up a connection for the future, he didn't think that 3 million were enough to ruin his relationship with a golden-egg laying hen.
'Wait, why don't I do it like this... This way we will both get what we want without having to suffer from big losses, and he won't get dissatisfied in the long run either,' Rex thought.
{I accept,} Rex said.
Zed sighed in relief, he was thinking that Rex might not get satisfied by just that, he also wanted to buy the smart band but after thinking about it he too decided to first make connections with Rex then buy more things like that later on. He wasn't worried about Rex getting angry because of him trying to copy the technology after buying, when he offered the price earlier, he knew even a blind man could see his obvious intention behind the price it was under the table gamble.
{I will prepare all the money in three hours at most,} Zed said.
{No need, I want to use that money to place the bet on these three items, I million each,} Rex said.
