Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 : : Prologue (Previous Chapter no. 1)

Year 2036, it was a rainy day, the loud sound of raging thunder could be heard throughout the city.

The whole sky was shrouded in black clouds.

Suddenly a shining black chopper landed on the rooftop of a very tall building.

That building is known as Moon Shine Tower, this building got its name because of its peerless beauty at the night of the full moon.

The whole building was covered with a special type of reflecting black glass, and it was made in a way that it can reflect the image of the moon on its surface at night.

But that wasn't the only thing special about it, it was also the tallest building in the whole city and the home of Rex Andrews, the inventor of the new generation of VR technology.

Rex was a successful Inventor known throughout the world, furthermore, he got the Nobel Prize and became the youngest person to get the Nobel Prize until today.

His understanding of VR technology was already said to be at a level where if he says that he ranks second when it comes to VR Technology then no one would be confident enough to claim the first rank.

He was not only a Genius Inventor but also a successful businessman who comes under the list of the top 100 richest people in the world.

But not everything that was known about him was good enough to be praised aloud. There were also rumors about him that says he was an irresponsible person, womanizer fanning over businesswomen, and a screwed fellow who used underhanded means like blackmailing, kidnapping, bribing, or threatening to reach such heights.

Although most people didn't believe these rumors because of no tough evidence but they all still had doubts thinking… there is no smoke without the fire, so they did think that some of these rumors might be true.

The chopper landed on the roof of the building, a man jumped out of it. He looked about just 27 years old.

THUD…

"Rex, be careful or you will get hurt. Damn.. this rain... It just doesn't stop!" A man who just looked a little older then Rex came out of the chopper after him.

He was James Andrews, Rex's elder brother… stepbrother to be more precise.

"Big brother don't worry about me, I will be going to check the results of our newest game in the market," Rex said waving his hand at him without turning back.

"Are you talking about the ones that launched last week? Wait… results my ass, you just want an excuse to fool around" James shouted from behind.

"Hehehe… Okay then, brother. I'm going to the workshop," Rex said without answering or halting his steps.

"Workshop? Right now?... wait… you are still trying to fix that garbage?" James said in an annoyed tone.

"Brother, that's the first prototype game pod I ever made, you know? how can you call it garbage," Rex said in a slightly dissatisfied tone.

Game pod… a VR tech-based device that lets the person experience a game like it's a realty

Users can have the same experience as real life in the game, but the important part is that they can use game pods even in their sleep, and the time spent in the game will be six-time more compared to the timeline of the real world, it was the technology Rex invented giving the games same place as dreams while sleeping.

"A thing that can not keep up with time becomes garbage, a carriage cannot replace a car, it might have its own use at one time but when compared to something advanced like a car it becomes pale in comparison… do you understand what I am trying to say?" James said as he followed Rex and left the rooftop.

He was the one piloting the chopper so there wasn't anyone else getting wet on the roof.

"Bother, I know what you mean but there is also something called memories and I believe then once I successfully upgrade it in that path I might be able to see another side of this technology," Rex said while adjusting his wet hair with his hands.

"It's the same thing you are telling me for six years already, that pod won't ever work again and that's a fact," James shook his head.

"Nothing is impossible, although the hardware can't keep up but the software I programmed in it are the most complex software I ever programmed, you know? And it has the theme of special classic RPGs I designed at that time and now I have also installed an inbuilt advanced AI super brain in it, it costed a lot of money too," Rex said.

"Sigh… I know you love classic RPG themes, but the software is not complete, Is it? so it won't work, if you like that old theme in it then just clone it then transfer into an advanced pod, and listen that broken thing will not provide any money… even if it succeeds, who would buy an antique, when they can have the latest v6.1 portable version of the Game Pod we launched on the market last week?" James said.

"Er… but there's the classic RPG thing, you know?" Rex failed to find another good excuse.

"You have already wasted six years on it, sigh… do whatever you want, but the building is mostly empty today, I didn't think that we would come here today so I gave the workers a holiday, I will go order something to eat, so do it fast," James sighed then said.

"You are the best brother, I will make it quick as possible," Rex hugged him from his shoulder side for a brief second before he entered the lift and left.

James shook his head towards him.

Rex was an easygoing and responsible person, most of the rumors about him were fake he won't claim to be a righting hero of justice but he did live by strong principles implanted in him by the man that raised him, although not every rumor about him was fake for instance… chasing after businesswomen.

At the Workshop…

A 3-4 meter-long game pod was lying in the corner of the garage. It was of light blue color, one has to know that in present time, the normal size of a game pod is only 1.5 to 2 meters, and when the v6.1 portable will be launched, people can just carry a game pod with them, the portable version looks just like a simple helmet after the user goes through a small operation for Nano-Bots implantation they can use it anywhere they want.

When Rex looked it at, a fire of excitement appeared in his eyes.

He never saw the work he does as a bother but something he loved to do.

"Uffff… Now let's begin!" Rex threw the wet suit on the hanger, slide-d up the sleeves then walked towards the game pod.

He took the nerve gear in the game pod and began to work on it without the slightest worry about time.

The nerve gear is helmet-like equipment connected to a game pod, it is used to connect the user's consciousness to the VR machine.
