Chapter 5 - Chapter 4

So she left with a few of her pockets stuffed with wrapped up sweets to go to her third and final delivery of the day.

This one was in the Cotton empire and it was for an enthusiast. What does she mean by enthusiast? Well! The emperors mother had sudden obsessions from a few weeks up to a few years at a time and the rest of the empire and royal family had to deal with the sequal of it.

She had heard that the Queen mother's newest obsession was fabrics. Hand sewing mountains of clothes for the five princes and princesses.

Even the emperor was seen sitting on a cushion with a crooked "best son of the year" embroidered on it, but no subject dared to talk about it. Don't question how she knew... She wish she didn't.

She was nibbling on the sweets as she ran from one empire to it's hostile enemy, the only other empire. There used to be three other empires that each occupied their own extensive land on the continents, but after the large war that raged for a short twenty years... Three empires were wiped out and their land taken.

For the scale of the war, twenty years was really a short time. But the horrors and consequences were more harsh than any war the three continents had ever seen.

The two remaining empires were openly hostile to each other, but lacked the support of the people and soldiers to actually start a war. The third continent on which the ninja clans lived had sworn to never be a part of direct conflict between the other empires.

They had always owned the entire third continent and only offered discreet tasks such as assassinations, information stealing etc. for a very large sum.

She didn't feel any of the empires were right or wrong as well as the ninja clans, but one. The empire of wheat was seen as the main evil throughout the war after it was discovered that they used a system called "messages" to gain and trade information.

Not only creating impeccable communication between officials and those on the battlefield, but also getting handles on officials and royals of all the other empires, inserting spies and creating more dead bodies.

Her face became dark as she thought of the cruel things in the years of the war. Her face quickly went back to expressionless as the walls of the castle neared. It was over now and everyone involved in the "message" was killed.

She ran full speed at the wall and without anyone seeing, ran a few steps up the wall, grabbing the top with her hands and lightly hoisting herself over the top. Keep in mind...this wall was as high as four of her and she sneered when she saw that the top layer was recently added.

The sun was at it's peak and the rays were at their hottest and this guy, this dude still wanted to test her! She looked around the area as she fell to the ground on the other side of the wall silently.

She knew this guy was waiting for her, he kept blocking her path every time she came to the Cotton empire. Actually... She had a slight suspicion the queen mother ordered extra things from her just to satisfy him!

She didn't see him, but heard a loud sound an alleyway to the right of where she landed. Hah! Wrong alley pal! She had specifically avoided moving on the rooftops so she could blend in and avoid the hell out of this piece of clingy cotton!

She leasurely strolled forward and stole pieces of clothing from people or shops as she went and emerged in the centre square as a dirty and lanky looking beggar boy who was walking between the crowd rubbing two bronze coins together in a silent way of asking for money.

She just happily accepted a silver coin from a wealthy man by the request of his wife and turned to face a ruckus that was moving down the street. The frikken clingy cotton was too excessive! Personally patrolling every street and alley to find her?

Hah! Then let him fail! He didn't know any of her real features anyway! He usually found her by relying on her not caring, not having time or simply blocking her way by standing next to the person she had to send the message to. Simply shameless, this Prince!

But now she had time and was in a great mood after receiving some sweets to play this game of cat and mouse. Let the games begin? Or better yet, that little mouse was already caught in her mousetrap.
