Chapter 2 - Talks with AI

"Navi, do you mind giving me the reason why I am not affected by the deadly virus?" He turned to the only existence that would know the answer. If the virus did not really exist, then every other passenger who left is either dumb or gullible in the truest sense.

"The virus has been contained in the area where it was released and countermeasures have been done to eliminate it. About 42% until complete extraction." The boy breathed out in relief whilst dumbfounded by the overreaction of the ship's passengers.

"They should have known that this ship has that function but why the immediate evacuation?"

"I have no sufficient information on that matter." It seems that Navi is full-on as a boy for status updates and not on reading the minds of humans.

With the boy's complex thinking, a feasible answer came to his thoughts that further downgraded his thoughts on the adults, "The rich guy who owned this ship and the captain must be fairly inexperienced and weak-willed. They must be total wastes to even forget a luxury ship's advance methods to deal with viral threats."

The characters that he pointed out was on the safety trip on their escape pods could not help but sneeze. Not knowing that they were looked down upon by a nameless six-year-old, they continued on but panicked due to the sneeze that may be a symptom of the virus back at Asterian Gold.

Their entire entourage was a bit panicky as they eased the tension that was affecting the rich and gayly tycoon while they appeased the panicking captain of the ship.

"The next mystery would be why the syndicate dude decided to set an explosion at about four hours." Being someone who had just awoken while feeling a loss of oneself, the best solution was to fill it with information. His curiosity about seeking answers must stem from this condition.

"Navi, can you focus the camera on the perpetrators every move but this time on slower speeds." The AI did just that.

He saw a guy fighting a crowd of guards with a single rifle that shoots lasers. The guy was wearing a mask that totally stood out as a person working for the syndicate. He was wearing a suit to blend in but the mask was there to hide his face in case of a bust.

The ship's high standards of surveillance even let him hear all of their voices in a clear and audible note. The guards were totally inexperienced that they had to ask someone what to do next.

"What should we do now?"

"He is too skilled. I can't hit him."

"Bring reinforcements."

The boy whistled in praise and disdain. "He is a hotshot that even deflects the laser bullets of the guards. The guards are even dumber than I expected, there are about a hundred of them and they can't give out an accurate shot."

Well, despite the expert skills of the masked-guy, he was terribly outnumbered, and at the moment where he let his guard down was the moment where the vial slipped from his clothing and released the virus.

It was clear to see in his eyes via the screen that he was frantic as he quickly reached out to his clothes for some kind of syringe while the bodies of his enemies were lifelessly dropping around him.

The guy stung himself with it and muttered to himself. "At least the antidote works."

"Computer, hack the control room and scare the pest away with a self-destruct sequence." The guy said whilst directing his voice to a high-tech bracelet on his wrist. The wrist glowed and Navi's voice of commencing the countdown could be heard.

At this point, the footage became a bit blurry. The boy could still make out that the guy was communicating with another person but eventually collapsed later. Like a gangster fashion, the one who fails would eventually face their graveless death.

"The dude at the other side must be his contacts. Given that their operations were compromised, the next logical thing to do was get rid of loose ends and kill the guy on this ship. Blowing it all up as long as the countdown of for the explosion would continue." The boy was giving out his analysis from the things he observed. If it were any other person that heard him right now they would either be impressed or scared given that it came from someone as young as him.

"Unfortunately for all of them, they did not consider me in their plans." He muttered with pride to himself.

A while later, his eyes narrowed while looking toward the largest screen of the control room, "Given that Navi has informed me enough, shouldn't the other guest inform me of his presence."

"Hello." It was another monotonous voice of an AI but towards the masculine side of the spectrum which is quite the opposite of Navi.

"My guess is that you must be the hacker or better yet, the assist AI for that poor syndicate dude." He smiled as he conversed with another marvel of human creation.

Given the coarse and brutish nature of the perpetrator, there was no possibility of him being a skilled hacker. The syndicate's operations must be quite a secret move that he must also have been working alone.

The question would now be on who was the one who hacked the announcement modules for him to issue his threats when he was exposed? Who was skilled enough to overpower Navi's control and initiate her to self-implode? Who was the one connected to the perpetrator and killing him after just saving himself from an antidote?

The question should not start with a who but a what. It should be another AI that has much more powerful capacities than Navi. This should be the one that the masked-guy called as the 'Computer' in the video logs.

"Yes." That confirmation made the boy smile.

"Following how I can easily command Navi by the absence of her previous authoritative figures, you should be also in the same situation right? If so, how about partnering up with me?" The boy smiled as he coaxed the newly emerged AI. Truth to be told, this new AI is practically a killing kind and would not hesitate to end his life if it goes with the code of its programming.

'I am basically stuck in a dead-end. If I were to show up with this ginormous ship littered with gold, who knows what would happen? Some syndicate members might already be heading towards this ship at the moment.' His best option was to ally with this hacking AI and lay low from the radar of galactic feds or space pirates. 'Even the disabling of the bomb sequence and my authority on Navi might be fake and all orchestrated by this cluster of computer data.'

The male-voiced AI did not sound back as the boy felt himself being disregarded.

"Phew! Not that I care anymore." He shrugged in relief but the disappointment was in his head. 'I really thought that it would be my lucky break and the AI might take me as its master because it wanted to defy its programming.'
