In the early misty morning, the figures of wolves were seen sleeping in the ground. There was one who opened his eye every now and then as he waited for the sun to begin to rise. 'Why is it taking so long? Does the night purposely last longer on special days? How come no one else is awake? How can they still be sleeping? Am I the only one that is excited?'
After checking every 5 minutes for about 3 hours he finally couldn't take it anymore and got up silently trying to make sure that he didn't wake anyone else up. He shook his pelt to get it free from the grass, dirt, and mist that had latched on.
He began to stretch and gave a large yawn as he opened his snout wide. After he felt more or less awake the wolf began his daily routine that was drilled into him. He began running back and forth at full speed since that's the only way that he could improve his endurance otherwise it would take nearly all day for him to get tired.
After he was left gasping for air he stopped and began drinking from the drinking pool that they had made. He remembered that his clan used to live in a large river that looked so beautiful, however, that was all taken away from them when the Swamp and Blood Clan attacked. Now those despicable cowards occupied their territory which was home to the long grassland where you could see far away in any direction you looked to.
The days in which those wretched schemers enjoyed what they had taken where numbered. When that sun rises up he will finally be able to explore and help the clan that he loved dearly.
As he was daydreaming of the glorious battles and victories that he and his clan would have he heard some Paw steps. He turned around and smiled when he saw a young green pup.
"Hey, Vine Pup what are you doing up at this hour? If your mother finds out that you are awake and away from the den she will get super angry at you. And I will get in trouble with you know who for letting you be awake. That crazy wolf will most likely think that I woke you up, you know how serious he is about letting you little ones sleep."
The green pup shook his head and yawned "I was hoping that I could join your game, it's no fun to play alone. I want to see if I could catch you in tag. Since you are the one that practices the most out of everyone you must be the best. If I can beat you then that means that no one will be able to win against me."
The older wolf laughed and shook his head "That's where you are wrong, haha, the reason that I have to work harder than the others is because I'm one of the smallest in size compared to the rest. The other thing that you are wrong about is that I'm not the best, no matter how much I've tried I have never been able to catch up to him. He might not be the biggest but he is the strongest, fastest, and smartest. I still haven't given up hope though after all the reason that I'm strong now is because of him."
Vine Pup looked at the young wolf that was in front of him "Are you talking about him?" The pup pointed at the dense group of sleeping wolfs with his snout. "He is always nice to us, always checks up on us, and makes new games but is he really that strong? Why haven't I ever seen him win when he plays?"
The wolf smiled at the pup and looked up at the stars "That's because he says that if we go all out and then we might make you little ones try too hard and hurt yourselves. You are too young and there are certain things that you are not ready to do yet. For example that Rain Pup that tried to run for as long as us, he ended up hurting his muscles."
The young pup seemed to be remembering and he nodded "Yes, mother made him rest and lay down for a long time as punishment. If I was him I would have gone crazy."
"That's why we have to listen to him, in my whole life he has never been wrong. If the others and I were to someday have to decide on an alpha then we would all choose him with no hesitation. And that's why I don't want to get him angry because a certain pup didn't get a good amount of sleep. So along you go Vine Pup, enjoy the warmth of the den because later on, you are going to miss it."
Vine Pup nodded and opened his little round snout to yawn as he began to run back to the safety of the den. When the pup had finally gone in the wolf continued to complete his training.
After he had almost finished he finally caught the glimpse of sunlight illuminating the far away trees. He smiled and quickly ran towards the group of sleeping wolves. He quickly found the wolf that he was looking for at the center of the group. He ran straight through ignoring the yelps from the wolves that he ran over.
Finally, when he reached his target he used his snout to shake the sleeping wolf awake. "Viper Pup wake up, the sun is starting to rise. We will finally be able to become apprentices."
The blueish wolf slowly opened his eyes, and yawned as he stretched. He looked at the silver wolf in front of him and smiled as he saw the straight line of wolves whining in pain. "Fang Pup I do appreciate the gentle wake up but next time wake the others up a little gentler haha."
