I looked upon the massive cave, or the Dungeon it was actually called, and strangely, like the receptionist told me and showed me, a five-story high building stood at the entrance, which could barely fit in the Entrance. No one knows what the building is for, but no one seems to talk about it for some reason. The Dungeon had a large skeletal door with hands grasping at the door, seemingly to pull it open or hug it closed. It was honestly pretty awesome to look at, and no one knew the bottom of the Dungeon. It was something of a thrill just walking up to it with my lovely little tigers and Kitty. No one really noticed the Tigers, but Kitty stood out, making the Phantom Tigers even harder to notice. It was not that they were invisible; it was just that they did not draw attention because of the mana they exuded into the atmosphere around them. It was a wonderful little by-product of their species, and I could not help smiling while thinking about it.
The War in the Kingdom of Arlin because of the kidnapping of my three cubs was still ongoing. The Beasts were pissed, and the Kingdom of Arlin had no communication with the Beasts. This resulted in misunderstandings and wars, where humans continued to clash with intelligent beasts on terrain that no general would ever command their troops to march into.
Adventurers were the main battle groups in the Kingdom of Arlin, and they just happened to be the best way to battle the Beasts in their home habitat. They were used to ambushes and were trained in the forests before the war. This meant that both sides just continued to rip into each other, with neither side giving ground to the other. It was a stupid war fought for reasons the other side did not understand.
Also, it was not like the Adventurers Academy would have made me return the cubs when they were young. If anything, the principal or the teachers would have kept the beasts for themselves. It was just how humans were: greedy to a fault, so it did not matter if millions died for one person's ambition.
That last thought made me chuckle as I was walking into the dungeon. This was the upper floors, and the weak, low, ranked adventurers were heading in. It was morning, and they were looking to start their day by killing the basic beasts at the top floors. It was an interesting economy based on mana-produced objects, which did not make sense to me.
For some reason, the Dungeon could create permanent things with Mana, like an A ranker. When I was still a wizard, this was impossible for me; as a beast master and Slave trainer, this would forever be blocked to me. My ability to use mana is externally locked to tools around me.
My mind was occupied as I walked in with other Adventurers, walking past the Unknown tower in the center of the doors. Walking around them, the cave started to enclose to a single point, and I watched as young adventurers around my age were picking at the corners of moss and mushrooms, which seemed to have quests related to them at the guild. I continued to walk deeper, ignoring those as my quests were deep in the Dungeon.
The first few rooms were just caves with no doors or anything to separate them—just domes that seemed to be slanted down. I was tempted to pour a little water to see how fast it would flow down, but instead, I continued to walk. Room after room was empty, as someone had cleared it before me. Then, I finally reached the point where it branched off a bit.
I followed the path a dungeon map gave me, and I found no monsters on the first or second floors. It was boring, but the people before me were hunting these monsters for quests, and as a B ranker, they would do me no good.
It was not until I reached the fifth floor that anything fun happened. I walked past a group of brats, getting ready to enter the first change in difficulty, which meant a test floor. I beat them to it, passed them without a care in the world, and walked into a room called Hob Goblin.
For the first time in a long time, I looked at a monster. I had not seen them since the Academy days, and I grinned. I snapped my fingers and pointed, and Kitty tore it to shreds. I continued walking, and the difficulty was laughable to me. My tigers and kitty tore through the goblins and skeletons on this floor, and I moved to the sixth, where more enemies came my way, but we tore through them. I sighed and remembered that the quests I took from the Adventurers guild did not start till the fiftieth floor. I was bored out of my mind as I continued to walk down the ever deeper Dungeon.
One of the things I noticed was the lack of extra air ventilation as I was moving deeper, and I knew any safe person in my last life would die from noticing that. Where did the oxygen come from?
Then I reached the Nineth floor and the first rest floor, and my question was answered as I entered a damn village surrounded by trees. My first thought was how they were surviving down here without light when I noticed the purple glow of the roof of the dungeon was brighter. Before, there were glowing stones that seemed to light the dungeon, but now I was in a dark purple world. The path led to the inner village, where you could see farms as you came into town, mostly growing fungi and mushrooms along with some other plants. I gasped as the air smelled nice and rich down here, and I walked past the dozens of businesses and Inns advertising their place to stay.
I had no reason to rest as I was bored out of my mind, and I could not help but wonder if it was like this on all the rest floors. There was another thing I noticed as I was about to leave the rest floor: it was not tilted like the previous floor. This one had a flat foundation, and as I entered the tenth floor, it was tilted again.
Did someone craft this to make life inside possible?
The question rang in my head as I dove deeper. Not even the dog jumping at me did not get me out of my thoughts. Kitty quickly dispatched the dog for me, and I continued to walk by as if nothing happened. I sighed and wondered when I would finally start to make orders for all my kitties.
I yawned and continued deeper.
