The nature of the auction is similar to real-life auctions.
Once the host, who is also the owner of the Guild's trading post, initiates the auction system, they can not only list their items for auction, but when other players make use of their trading post and open the auction function, those players can view the items up for auction and also list their own items for auction. Of course, listing items requires payment of a commission fee, and if those items are successfully auctioned off, the host also receives a percentage of the transaction price.
Therefore, the host can get two sources of income from one seller. The first is the commission fee for listing the item, and the second is the cut from the sale upon completion of the transaction!
