"Can I switch on the computer and play some music?" Chu You wanted to do something else.
"No! It'll be noisy." Bao'er replied softly, her voice trembling.
Listening to her voice, watching Bao'er in this moment, Chu You felt as if something inside him had suddenly been hollowed out, leaving him lost and directionless.
He wanted to hold Bao'er, wanted to press her beautiful, ethereal face to his chest. Yet an unseen force seemed to bar his way, keeping him from reaching out to her.
"Bao'er, is anyone bullying you at school?" Chu You finally thought of something to talk about.
But then, Bao'er gently patted the edge of the bed, "You can sit here."
Watching her hand, Chu You hesitated for a moment before sitting down and taking her small hand in his.
Bao'er's hand was a bit cold to the touch. Chu You gave it a firm squeeze.
"Your hand's a bit chilled!" Chu You remarked, but inside, a pang of guilt sprang up as he recalled every moment since he had taken Bao'er under his care.
