Petite Bao'er walked to the window, squinting at the sunlight streaming in. She strained her eyes to peer through the glow, almost as if she was trying to discern the truth hidden within.
The effort seemed painful, so eventually, Bao'er lowered her head. She rubbed her eyes and turned to the desk. No longer rubbing her eyes, she turned her gaze towards the hallway, where the door to her room was now open.
At the turn in the hallway was a door, she knew it was Chu You's bedroom, but it still remained closed.
A flicker of sadness seemed to pass through Bao'er's sparkling eyes, but it disappeared as quickly as it came.
Bao'er sat down and picked up a small mirror from the desk. Her face was reflected in it, alongside her open textbooks and completed assignments.
As she looked at herself in the mirror, a faraway expression gradually found its way to her face.
In the end, a sigh seemed to echo within her heart.
