Guding and his two companions had not been awake for long when the door to their prison room was pushed open. A woman clad in a beast robe entered, carrying a tray.
The woman's face was painted with strange colorful stripes, concealing her real age, and when she looked at Guding and his friends, her eyes were filled with caution. As she placed the food in front of them, her gaze never left them for a moment.
After setting down the tray, she turned and prepared to leave immediately as if she had no intention of lingering.
"Hey, I'd like to talk with your High Priest," Guding suddenly said, taking the woman by surprise.
"You understand our language?"
"That's right, so I hope to have a conversation with you all," Guding felt there was a chance.
"There's no point. Tomorrow, you will be offered as sacrifices to our great God. Enjoy the last meal I've just brought," the woman's words left Guding momentarily stunned.
