In a pitch-black house, Liliya's clothes were soaked through. She glanced around somewhat helplessly. The floor-to-ceiling window was slightly ajar, and a cool breeze blew in, chilling her wet clothes and making her shiver involuntarily.
Outside the window, the rain poured down heavily, accompanied by strong winds. She could vaguely see the branches of trees swaying not far away, and rainwater was being blown into the house. Thunder rumbled dully outside, and occasional flashes of lightning illuminated the room in a bright light.
Liliya wrapped her clothes tighter around her, pulled up the window, and locked it.
In the brief moments of lightning, she located the power switches in the room. She walked over and pressed a few unknown buttons, thinking that at least one should operate the lighting.
She pressed all four buttons on the switch several times, but the lights didn't turn on, and none of the other electrical appliances responded.
