Chapter 13 - A Celebration Pt. 2

"The Young Miss Hollis has arrived," a butler announced. He was standing at the top of the staircase that leads down to the floor of the ballroom. His face was stretched in a large smile as he announced my arrival.

Looking down, I found that my Mother and Father are both standing at the front of the guest, just at the bottom of the staircase. Both of them are also dressed in a whiteish silver ensemble.

The crowd behind them were dressed in all sort of colors, but everyone was very formal. It was a sea of different races in front of me. It was safe to say that there are races that I had only read about in the book that are all currently in the ballroom.

Everyone's attention was focused on me, it was a bit unnerving to be this closely examined by all the prying eyes of the people in the room. I'd never been the center of attention in my previous life, but it looks like in this life I was destined to be the center of attention.

Without waiting any longer, I walk down the stairs with Salem in tow. As I descended the stairs, I could feel the eyes lessen as I removed myself from the highest point of the room. It was strange to be gawked at.

"My little doll you look stunning," my father comments as he reaches a hand out to cup my face.

He's dressed a lot like Salem, in a suit, however, it was completely silver. My mother was dressed the same in all silver, around her neck was a different medallion than the one that my father and I are wearing.

Instead of a lion, it was a phoenix. It was completely black like it'd been bathed in a night sky. This was the symbol of my mother's family, the phoenix of fate. Each Vampiric family had a sacred animal, that represented their house. There is a total of twelve vampiric houses, including the Matriarch's family.

Vampires are extremely heretical, only a woman from the Matriarch's family could become the next Matriarch. My mother's mother was the current Matriarch of Vampires. As of yet, I haven't met my Grandmother.

It seems that my mother wasn't that fond of her. My mother wasn't fond of any of her family it seems actually. But neither was my father, I'd only now just met my aunt, although, it seems that he does love his sister.

Speaking of my aunt, I didn't see her anywhere, she wasn't near my mother and father. Since I was so short I wasn't able to see behind the mass of the crowd.

Without wasting a second, my mother quickly turns and clears her throat. The crowd that was close, spread out a little and the suffocating feeling almost completely vanished.

"We welcome everyone, thank you for being kind enough to attend our daughter's fifth year. When I realize that even some of your own children also have just completed their own fifth year.

For that, I want to extend my congratulation to our young ones that have become a full-fledged member of our society. You should all be proud to have joined our ranks, and we welcome you with open arms," she says as she gives a small bow.

The once quiet room burst into applause at my Mother's words. A born leader, indeed. She could command a room much like a monarch.

Music began to play again, and people gave me a glance and a smile, before moving slightly away from the front, to allow others to move to the front. I expected more people to get near me and try to speak to me, however, it wasn't till about the fourth round of people cycling through did a few people walk up to greet me.

The first person that walks towards me is a woman that had long curly light blue hair, that falls around her shoulders. Scales run up her neck and along her face, curling delicately around her cheekbones, and then up around her forehead to create a pointed crown of scales.

Her scales are a mixture of blue and black. Her ears are pointed and covered in scales as well, she was enchanting. Dragon eyes look back at me, they're an azure blue.

She was dressed smartly, in a simple black dress, that exposed her arms and pars of her legs. Her hands are claws, along with her feet. She was a Dragonkin without a doubt.

"Governess Emberlynn, Master Horace and Salem," she says with a glint in her eyes. She doesn't bow but gives a small dip of her head as she looks at my family.

"Young Miss Hollis, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I'm Vissi, and I hail from the Dragon race," she turns those dragon eyes to look at me. I felt a chill run up my body at the look she's giving me.

"The pleasure is also mine; I've never met a Dragonkin before," I tell her honestly.

She beams down at me and bends down slightly, extending her clawed hand. I glance at her and she nods her head, I reach my hand out to touch her claw. The moment my fingers touched her hand, I felt mental images flood my head.

Great images of Dragons, and a faraway place that looked nothing of the world that I was accustomed to here.

I pull my hand back after a moment, once the images had ceased.

"That is my gift to the Young Miss, a glimpse of the Dragonkin's home. I hope that you enjoyed it, if you ever want to find me. I work at the Guildhall in the Dungeon Tower," she says with a warm tone as she stands back up.

"Thank you, that was amazing," I tell her honestly.

Smiling, she gives me a slight nod of her head before she walks away. What an intriguing dragon.

"Mother," I turn my head to look up at her, "just who was that woman?"

"She's a representative of the Dragon Race, we and the Dragons have had a long and rich history. They're one of the few races that also have an almost infinite life span the same as us. Vissi herself is an eccentric one," she explains.

"Mother you put it nicely, she's a meddling Dragon if anything at all," Salem mutters.

I raise an eyebrow; I don't think I've heard Salem ever say anything like that about someone. Normally he was stoic and wouldn't express his thoughts. This woman was interesting if she was able to get this sort of rise out of my Brother.

"Hello again," a familiar voice enters my ears.

Looking up in front of me is standing the little elf boy. This time he's dressed in a tunic, it was a soft green, with light gold trim around the edge of the tunic. He also wore dark brown pants and simple boots.

Behind him, I found that the man I'd seen from earlier was present, and next to him stood a fairy-like woman. Her hair was a warm honey yellow, that falls in twisted ringlets, and around her forehead, a simple twisted crown with a small green gem sat in the center of the ornament.

Her dress is a warm gold gossamer, and it looks like spiders had spun them. Outside of that around her neck a simple silver ring with a small teardrop on it, and around her wrist were simple silver cuffs.

Her eyes are closed, and she has an arm wrapped around the gentlemen I'd seen from earlier today. It would appear that these are his parents.

Getting up and up-close look at him, he looked a lot like his son. Other than the fact that his eyes are a beautiful azure color. He was dressed similarly to his wife, in a golden tunic and a simple pair of brown pants underneath with simple boots.

On his wrist was a similar silver cuff as his wife. On his right ear was also a teardrop-shaped earring. They're both matchings in that regard.

"Emberlynn it's a pleasure to see you again," the woman says with a melodious voice.

"Galadriel, I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to meet earlier, but it seems that our children are already acquainted," my mother said with a small wink.

I felt my ears burn a little bit. Just what was she hinting at?

"Shall we let the children get to know each other better?" Silvyr's father asks.

"That's a great idea! Why do you children head off and look around, and meet some other children as well," my mother says with a small smile, and with her free hand, she pushes me forward.

Stepping forward, I notice that Silvyr's just as nervous as I am. Sighing inwardly, I grab his free hand and pull him forward.

"Let's go!" I tell him while dragging him away from our families.
