"Grandma, you're favorite granddaughter is here, where are my cookies!" Scarlett calls out as she walks down the hall to the back of the shop. Moira Lee looks up from the loathsome records she's working on and smiling gets up to hug Scarlett. "Ah, kitten when did you get here? Where's Bubbles?" Scarlett giggles, "Grandma, he's with grandpa and Tobias in the front getting spoiled rotten."
"Hehehehe...you know they act like they are so tough but when Bubbles is around they act like little kids. So have you come to see our new items or just to keep me company?" Scarlett sat down by the desk and flipped thru the paperwork until she found the manifesto of the new shipment. "Oh, I came to see what new goodies grandpa has and to spend some time with you, maybe even bribe you to come and join me for lunch?" Scarlett smiles happily as she reads the list. Moira rolls her eyes and snatches the paper out of her hands. "And here I thought you were here to help your old grandmother with her work. Ah, so disappointing to see how the young people forget about their elders." Moira made a pitiful expression as she "scolded" her granddaughter.
Scarlett fakes a sorry face and stands up and bows respectfully towards Moira, "Ah grandmother, this ignorant granddaughter asks for forgiveness. I was blinded by the prospect of looking at the new goodies that grandfather bought. I bow to you, please forgive me." Moira merrily laughs, "Oh my goodness girl, you are too much! Have you been watching historical dramas in your spare time again? I swear you and your grandfather are really a throwback to another time. Always getting excited over the oldest, dirtiest, musty old things. I really don't know how you find it fascinating, to me it's just too boring."
"Well grandma, someone has to be normal in this family and that would be you." Scarlett hugs Moira as she chuckles. As far back as she can remember the Lee's have been part of her life and she really loves them as much as her own biological grandparents. Her grandfather passed away when she was very little and when her grandmother passed away not long afterward both Lee's became the most important people in her life. She had lost both of her parents as a toddler in a horrific house fire and she had been living with her grandparents until tragedy struck her family again when she was four. Her grandfather Klaus had been in a dig in a foreign country when they received news that the temple he had been digging in with his students collapsed and he had died in the accident trying to save a student who was injured by falling debris. A few years later her grandmother Mary passed away from a terminal illness and she had been in despair when the Lee's took her home with them. She later found out that her grandmother had made a will giving her friends custody of her in the case that she passed away before she was grown. At first she had been afraid to get close to the Lee's but over time she was confident that she wasn't a jinx like everyone else in her extended family thought. She had followed her parents and grandfather's steps and studied archaeology and business.
"Ah my darling do you love me?" Moira sweetly asked Scarlett. "Of course I love you grandma! I love you to infinity and beyond." "Good granddaughter, the you won't mind finishing up the lists and inventory. I need a nap."
