Chereads / Bound to Evil / Chapter 79 - Reaper (1)

Chapter 79 - Reaper (1)

Very far from Boston, in a desolate place where the ambient infernal heat was definitely not comparable to that of a climate existing on Earth; a humanoid being was standing at the edge of a cliff that was overhanging by more than a hundred meters a river of lava whose other bank wasn't even visible to the human eye.

The air around him, like everywhere else, was heavy and so filled with blood that one might think that it was for this reason that the color of the sky and the completely parched land of this place was so similar to it...

As for the disgusting stench of death that was accompanying this air, the being right here who was currently smelling it would say of it that it was impossible to ignore it but that one would get used to it after years of living in Hell like him.

Speaking of him...

Setting aside the imposing pair of wings covered with black scales on his back, which was a definite proof of his non-humanity, one would think that he was a young man of the same age as Lazar based on his other physical characteristics.

A young man with a rather abnormal appearance to say the least...

He had long, straight, blond and filthy hair that stopped at his knees as well as extremely light blue eyes, was about 1.90 meters tall and had very salient muscles that weren't hidden by a layer of clothing because the only parts of his body that were covered were his genitals and buttocks.

One of the two first things one would notice about him were his scars, or more precisely, the hundreds of cuts of varying depths that were covering his entire body without sparing his wings and face, thus depriving him of the angelic beauty that he could have had...

Then, the thick chains at his heels and wrists which were made of a mysterious black metal that seemed to be absorbing the surrounding heat.

Looking at him more closely, he seemed to be waiting impatiently for something to happen, or at least that's what was suggested by the fact that he was stamping his foot frantically while staring at a strange tiny black dot above the lava river, a few dozen meters in front of him.

'What the hell is he doing? I shouldn't have pinned all my hopes on a fucking voice in my head...' As he was beginning to question the relevance of what he was doing while clenching his fists in frustration, the black dot he was staring at stretched, stretched, and stretched again...

It didn't stopped expanding until it became a circular portal with a 3-meter diameter.

Faced with this sight, the being was fascinated. He felt attracted by the darkness that was emanating from the portal as if surrendering to it would be far better than the fate he thought he would have in the future.

Dumbstruck, he even extended his arms towards the portal as if he wished to touch the pure and welcoming energy that it was made of.

"I'm warning you young man, the attraction you have for me isn't reciprocal." Declared a teasing and sophisticated voice coming from inside the portal.

The being closed his mouth, which had been wide open until then after realizing that his weird behaviour had just been witnessed by someone.

As he was about to argue with what the voice had said, he realized something that was much more important...

"You don't sound like the voice who spoke to me earlier!" He protested before raising his fists in a fighting stance since this situation became fishy.

"Indeed, Gedril, it wasn't me." The same voice said in the same playful tone before the body to which it belonged came out of the portal, "But for a task like this, it would be quite unreasonable for my master to move when my presence is sufficient."

Gedril lowered his fists, not because he had just heard his name and that had been enough to gain his trust, but because the energy radiating from the individual who had just come out of the portal was so overwhelming that he knew that if this person wanted to hurt him it would make no difference if he tried to defend himself or not.

'Why is someone like him here?!' He wondered as he widened his eyes because he recognized the race of the humanoid being with the slender physique that was walking in the void in his direction.

Contrary to what his wild appearance would lead one to believe, Gedril was very cultivated and his knowledge extended to all sorts of creatures, and what was certain was that the one in front of him had nothing to do in Hell.

The line between masculinity and femininity was thin in this being but Gedril knew he was a male.

He had elongated, pointed ears as well as long, straight blond hair styled in a ponytail that were extremely clean and shiny unlike Gedril's.

His skin was white pale and his gaze was intimidating because of the combination of his dark blue pupils and the black colour replacing the white of his eyes.

The closer he got, the more Gedril realized that he was tall and by that he meant at least 15 centimeters taller than him.

Finally, although he didn't seem to have any weapons with him, he was equipped with a combat armor resembling the one Death had when he met Lazar, except that there were no sleeves to protect his arms and that it looked like a less qualitative version.

When he arrived in front of Gedril, he ignored his defensive posture and started turning around him to examine him on every angle, which resulted in the incomprehension of the latter.

"Can you tell me what you're doing?" Gedril asked in an exasperated tone.

"Oh sorry, it's not every day I get to see someone as rare as you, I guess I have let my curiosity get the better of me." Answered his interlocutor without stopping to examine him.

"Uh... aren't you supposed to be doing something else?" Reminded him Gedril.

"Of course, but one thing at a time and since we're probably going to be part of the same family, I think it's time for me to introduce myself..." He said before reaching out his hand to him, "My name is Fimafeng and I am one of the Reapers under the orders of Death."
