Chereads / Mana Apocalypse / Chapter 11 - Chapter 11

Chapter 11 - Chapter 11

Feeling relieved after my visit to the restroom I hesitated to return to bed. I was up already, though that had never stopped me before. Instead I wasn't sure if I should return to the embrace of the two beauties still in my bed.

This would have been the point in one of the animes I watched where I cursed at the main character for being a pussy, but those characters didn't have to deal with the uncertainties of the human heart. Well some of them did but they did have to worry about the call from their girlfriends parents where they say exactly what they need to, to get their daughter to realize she was being emotional and needed to get her mind straight and become the woman they wanted her to be.

Karen's parents weren't bad people. They loved their daughter a great deal, and had a 'perfect' plan for her future. Any deviation from that plan was met with hostile attention worse than a squad of SWAT team going after the head of a human trafficking ring. There would be no mercy and casualties were to be expected.

My stomach rumbling solved my dilemma for me.

"I am going to get something for breakfast, any requests?" I asked, sticking my head into my bedroom.

It was a bad idea. Knowing there are two beautiful, mostly naked women in your bed is not the same as seeing beautiful, mostly naked women in your bed.

"Really? But we haven't even worked up an appetite?" Megan asked teasingly as she laid out on my bed with the covers pushed down to her feet.

Karen laughed as she laid beside the blonde just as naked and exposed. "No Daryl, grab whatever you want, just bring back enough for all of us." she told me.

I was conflicted on whether I should go and feed my stomach, or just ignore it and hop back into bed with them. It must have shown though as Karen grabbed the covers and pulled them up over the pair of them. "Hurry up, I am getting hungry." she told me when Megan turned to pout at her.

With a sigh I grabbed some clothes off the floor then beat a hasty retreat. If I knew Megan, the longer I stayed the more likely she was to start teasing me. Which I wasn't sure I could deal with. We seemed to be sitting right on that line where it would stop being teasing and become something else. Call me a coward if you wanted but I wasn't going to take that step yet. Karen wasn't the only one who had people that could change her mind.

Once I was dressed I headed for the door. I locked it behind me since Megan had a key of her own. Besides I wasn't intending to be gone long. There was a place across the street that made some killer breakfast burritos.

I didn't run into anyone on my way out, then again it was still pretty early.

Once outside I pulled out my phone to ensure the Little Mike's was even open. It was, but just barely.

While the apartment building was quiet the road between me and Little Mike's wasn't. I had to wait for a few minutes before I could run across the street during a lull in the traffic.

Little Mike's was a small hole in the wall place run by a guy named Mike. No surprises, but there was nothing little about Mike. He was a tall, wide, pot bellied Caucasian man. His wife Rosa on the other hand was the real reason the place was popular among the apartment residents. She was a slim, attractive, busty, Mexican woman in her mid twenties, but of course we only came for the food.

"Hey Daryl, no Micheal today?" Mike asked me when I walked in.

"Nope, he is off with Courtney." I replied looking at the menu. It was a pointless endeavor since I knew what I wanted already. It was just that Rosa was bent over restocking the items under the counter while wearing a shirt that seemed lower cut than normal. I didn't want to be caught staring, Mike was a pretty jealous guy.

"Ah, I see, so what will it be?" Mike asked a bit more cheerfully.

I smiled at the big man then ordered three white boy style breakfast burritos, which had egg, cheese, potato, and sausage in them. No idea why he named them that, but he seemed to laugh whenever anyone asked.

Rosa stood up, gave me a wink then headed into the kitchen to make my order. I rolled my eyes and wondered how much longer the place would stay open. With Mike being as jealous as he was, and Rosa being such a big flirt, it just seemed a matter of time. Then again it could all be an act to keep people coming back. No idea, I liked the view, but the food was what I came back for.

A few minutes later I was on my way back out with a brown paper bag full of breakfast burritos and a blush after Rosa gave me another wink and blew me a kiss when handing me the bag.

I heard some growling behind me as Mike asked something as I left, but I ignored it. While I looked I didn't encourage the flirting. I had no interest in married women, even before Karen showed back up.

I was almost back to the apartment before I ran into trouble. Heather Mesner was standing outside of my apartment with a stroller, digging around in her purse for what I expected to be her keys. She was a very attractive woman with shoulder length raven black hair, a perfect hourglass figure and long shapely legs. A woman who defined Micheal's type.

"Hey Heather." I said as I walked up to her. Then used my own keys to open the door.

"Hey Daryl." she responded with a small smile.

Once the door was unlocked I opened it then poked my head in to make sure the girls weren't in view before stepping out of the way so she could push the stroller in.

"Girls company!" I called out once I was inside the apartment.

"Girls?" Heather asked me, surprised. "Where is Micheal?"

"Not here." I replied with a wince. Heather herself wasn't a problem. Normally she was a very pleasant woman. Since she got pregnant with Micheals' kid, her personality would change depending on Micheal and Courtney. As I lived with Micheal I frequently got dragged into the messy situation.

"What do you mean, not here?" Heather asked. "He is supposed to spend time with Bryan today." she told me angrily.

I shrugged. "I don't know, but something seemed to happen yesterday with all that madness, and he never came home." I told her.

Heather glared at me for a few moments then sighed. "Sorry." she told me.

I nodded, "It's fine." I told her then placed the bag of burritos on the dining table. Only then did I realize I hadn't seen Enya all morning.

As if to answer my unspoken question the girls came out of my room, fully dressed, with Enya perched on Karen's shoulder.

"Heather!" Megan said happily when she spotted the raven haired woman then hurried forward and bent down to grab Bryan out of the stroller. "Hey buddy!" she exclaimed to the toddler then kissed him on the cheek. Megan had long since labeled Micheal's son as her nephew and loved him dearly.

"What in the hell is that?" Heather asked looking at Enya.

"She's mine." I replied evasively.

"Hi, I'm Karen." Karen said stepping closer to Heather and holding her hand out. Enya seemed to sense Heather's discomfort and flew over to perch on the back of the couch as far from us as she could manage.

"You alright there Enya?" I asked the bird as Heather shook Karen's hand.

Enya bobbed her head up and down in response so I nodded and let her be. It wouldn't surprise me if the girls had warned her not to talk in front of others.

"So who is this cutie pie?" Karen asked peering at Bryan with a big grin. "Your kid Daryl?" she asked teasingly.

I glared at her though it wasn't hard to imagine. Bryan was a bit chubby and had inherited his mother's hair color which made the toddler look more like me than his father.

"Ewww." Heather said, causing me to shift my glare from Karen to her. "Seriously Heather?" I asked.

"Yeah Daryl. You look better now, but back when I got pregnant? No, just no." she told me, eliciting the other girls to laugh at my expense.

I sighed and shook my head then pulled our breakfast out of the bag and handed them out.

"Did you happen to get an extra one of those?" Heather asked.

"You can share with me." Megan offered. "I doubt I can eat more than half of this thing." she said.

I looked down at my own burrito and had to admit Rosa really did hook us up. It was the same sized tortilla that they normally used but she had loaded it to the brink of bursting. I happily dug into my own as Megan ran into the kitchen to get a knife to cut hers in half.

A few minutes later we were all finished and full.

"A good choice." Megan said then gave me her mischievous grin. "How is Rosa?" she asked.

I snorted. "Almost as flirty as you." I replied.

Karen snorted disbelievingly while Heather laughed.

"I'm still wondering if she ever slept with Micheal with how she smiles at him." Heather commented thoughtfully.

"He hasn't." Megan replied. "Married women are a strict no for him."

"Not that it stops him from flirting right back." Heather grumbled.

I chuckled. Heather, Micheal, and Courtney had a very complicated relationship, and while it would seem Heather and Courtney would hate each other, they didn't. It didn't mean Heather liked it when Courtney dragged him off to have fun with other women, but she didn't cause a fuse, then again she had once been one of those extra women.

"Master!" Enya shouted in warning.

I looked over at her in surprise then I felt it. A wave of mana rushed over me then was sucked into my mana core. My body lit up like it was on fire. It wasn't nearly as bad as yesterday, but it still wasn't pleasant.
