'What beautiful chandeliers they have here. This place belongs to my mother's best friend Emma, after all, her father died leaving her all the money. Spending that money on diamond-decorated, gold chandeliers is just such a great idea. I can imagine the chaos if they drop. Would people go run towards the fallen chandelier and attempt to steal parts of it? No, of course, they would run around like headless chickens, screaming.'
Taking a sip of wine, Belinda stood in one corner of the crowded hall, where people were chatting and laughing, otherwise known as trying to show off the achievements they had this year and their fashion. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a lady wearing a dark green, velvet ball gown with her hair styled extravagantly walk towards her. The lady had large luminous pearls that matched her outgoing beautiful smile.
"Oh what a pleasure to see you here! Dear Belle how much you have grown and achieved in a year! Has your mother arrived yet my dear?" The lady in green was her mother's trusted friend Emma.
"Yes, it's wonderful to meet you here ma'am-"
"No call me Aunt Emma dear, I insist." The lady in green cut Belle off before she finished.
"Yes ma'am, I mean-" Belle started her sentence only to stop again.
"Oh never mind, go on dear. Just wanted to see if your habits would change." She laughed it off.
Belle smiled back. "Thank you for inviting me here tonight, it is a great pleasure to be here. My mother did not come with me, she shall be arriving soon I presume."
"Well, I hope you enjoy yourself. There will be the food coming up later which hopefully everyone will enjoy." Aunt Emma sighed. "The chef was hard to bargain for, but I did hear all about his apparent cooking skills from several sources."
"I'm sure the food would be great, well I'll most certainly hope it is. After all, I'm only here for the food ma'am."
"I certainly hope so too. Oh, I need to attend to other guests, I'll see you around?"
"Yes ma'am, it's been wonderful seeing you tonight." She sipped from her wine glass once again after her 'Aunt Emma' left.
'I'm glad she didn't take me seriously about the food. I really did mean it though. Honestly, I don't see why people find parties so entertaining. People who have achieved more brag nonstop and perhaps look down at others. Whereas people who haven't achieved so much in comparison would try curry favour and give fake compliments.'
Belle started walking around through people for 'social interactions' and to perhaps eavesdrop for a bit of tea or watch drama unfold. Her beautiful white ball gown trimmed with rose gold enhanced her beauty, making everyone she walked by admire her. Maintaining a smile, she went on her own little journey, acting polite and reserved. Her gorgeous deep blue eyes, unbeknown to everyone else, was looking around at people to find her potential entertainment for the night.
