Jacob sat on a white couch, something that he usually does not do. Unlike being in the study room on the second floor, he found himself in the living room. He's hardly ever been here because there was nothing to do here.
Don't get him wrong, it was not like he did not like the room. There was just nothing for him to do.
The room was big, and fit two couches, a large white one that was able to hold three people with ease, but if they were skinny enough a fourth person should also be able to sit on the chair. The second white couch was smaller than its counterpart, only able to seat two. Lastly there was a white chair, only able to fit one person.
Jacob tried to sit in it, but it was uncomfortable.
These couches did not use foam in the inside to cushion your bottom. Instead it used another material as a replacement, something that Jacob was not too familiar with.
In between the two large couches was a see-through glass table. A small plant was on it giving it some elegance.
Lastly there was the fireplace.
That completed the entire room, besides the wool white and blue carpet under the table.
Jacob just sat there, staring blankly outside of the window.
Suddenly he felt a hand on his shoulder causing him to wake from his daze. Looking over his shoulder he saw it was Jack.
"You alright? You seem a bit out of it."
Jack removed his hand as he came around the sofa and took a seat on the other one right across from where Jacob was sitting. His concern caused Jacob's lips to curl slightly.
"Just doing a bit of thinking is all."
Jacob answered.
He was being honest. He was thinking, something he was doing a lot lately. Something that always caused him to be mentally exhausted.
Jack gazed at Jacob for a second before me too looked out of the window.
"About? The rebels?"
Jacob shook his head. Although they were on his mind but he was not thinking about them right now. There was still some time left before they emerged, meaning Jacob still had time left to prepare.
While it might not seem like Jacob was doing anything significant to others,, he was. He just hoped his actions would not affect anything major.
"More so about my future than anything else. Right now I'm still a fledgling compared to all the other nobles out there. Sometimes I'm left to wonder if the path I'm taking is the right one."
Jack couldn't believe what he was hearing. He knew that Jacob was not a real noble, but he still had it better than others.
"I'm probably not the one to say this, but you are doing fine. Look around you, the people you have saved, the people you have gained. No one can say for certain that the path we all thread is the right one, however just like my father says, 'Keep moving forward'."
It was not the exact words Jacob wanted to hear, but it made him cheer up.
Clearing his mind of all his thoughts for now, he turned his attention towards Jack.
"So how was your trip? Are things with your sister good?"
Jacob asked as he was concerned about Jack and his sister's well-being.
Jack sighed. He was not sure about his sister really. She was quiet, and shy. Never bothering a soul always staying alone.
Granted, she was not always that way. If she was never harmed in the past, things could have been so much different.
"It might take some time, however, I believe Luna will adjust. Just need to get her to open up a bit more."
"Let me know if there is anything I can do to help."
Jacob offered his assistance.
"Thanks, but I'm not sure if she'll accept. She's a bit afraid... of men. There are only a few exceptions."
Jacobs eyes narrowed.
He could understand that something happened in the past with her. More than likely something cruel that hurt her and broke her.
Between the two there hung an awkward silence. Jacob did not want to end their conversation on this note, thus he found the need to change the subject.
"I know you have just returned, but I do happen to need your help with something."
Jack's ears perked up.
"Whatever you need."
"I need your help with kidnapping someone."
Jack was taken back by this sudden request and furrowed his eyebrows.
"Who am I taking? And how am I supposed to do that?"
Jack's questions were indeed deserving of answers. It was not like he was an evil person who would kidnap a priest or even a villager for no good reason at all.
Kidnapping and killing were totally different. While Jack had no problem slaying a man or woman who caused harm to him or those around him. He did have a problem with kidnapping people.
Mostly because it struck him differently than killing did. He could still vividly recall that time his sister was kidnapped.
It was honestly the worst, especially considering the various things she could have experienced and did experience.
To make matters worse, Luna could have been sold as a slave. If that happened there were slim hopes of her ever returning home.
Thus, Jack has never dabbled in kidnapping people.
"It's my fiancee's mother. Certain matters have come to me and I've been requested to detain her for a short while. You could say she will be under house arrest for a period of time until the situation dies down or resolves itself..."
Jacob stated as he stood up from his seat.
"As for how... it does not matter. Just do not harm her in anyway and bring her here. There will be guards posted at the city gate, I'll figure out a way to remove them when you have her. That way no one will spot you bringing her in."
Jacob paused for a slight second before he continued.
"The other option would be to take her after she comes to the city. However, I fear at that time she'll have the protection of her guards. Not to mention the window of time you'll have to act will be shorter. Therefore, it is easier to move before she arrives here."
"I don't know about this... she's a noble. You think she would leave the city with no protection? I'm positive someone with skill is sticking by her side. Probably more talented than myself."
Jacob also had that thought himself. The only way a noble would travel the roads solo was if they were strong enough to protect themselves. Yet, Angelia assured him that he would be able to kidnap her mother as she was traveling alone.
At the time Jacob was focused on the words she whispered to him and agreed in a hurry. Still, he doubted Angelia knew he received training and that he was a priest capable of casting certain spells.
For him he picked up the priest class due to the fact it would help him in the situation he was in at that moment. Not to mention there were many benefits to being a priest capable of casting high level spells.
That added on to the fact that Jacob was looking towards his end-game class more than his starting one. The combination of classes he was going for was not unique to players. However, there was virtually none who had the same combination here in this world currently.
That is to say unless something changed drastically.
As long as he garnered more experience then he could gain his next class and increase his combat potential.
"Worry not, she has no protection with her. As for her own strength I as not informed of any. If need be you can take Teressa with you. She should be able to handle a large majority of situations that you cannot."
That was all Jacob could offer Jack. He could go himself, but he can't. He's too busy and still had plans to see finished. Not to mention he did not want to lose out on all the experience points he was obtaining.
"Fine. However, if she's a mage I'm not going after her."
Jack said.
After seeing what Vulcan was capable of with that low level spell, Jack wanted nothing to do with mages ever again.
Jacob laughed a little.
He soon informed Jack of all the information he received from Angelia about her mother and where she would be.
How much did Jack improve since that incident? Jacob had no clue. With Teressa tagging along with him there should be very little worry however.
After their chat was over Jacob headed back to the study. He had to organize his thoughts and review his plan to make sure everything was set in stone.
