My gaze drifted outside then back to the inside of the carriage. Although they didn't forbid this one from looking out the window, the scenery is... how do I say this. Somewhat, 'boring'. The road was still surrounded by trees and the most dejecting about this road trip is the constant rattling and bumping of the carriage.
A few hours passed and we came to an abrupt stop. I peeked through the window and saw that we are in a green circle made out of various inscriptions. My brows furrowed upon the sight of this and I felt a sense of deja vu.
But before I could comprehend all this, the surroundings suddenly brightened then the surrounding changed and there were more buildings. This happened a few more times and every time, my urge to vomit increased. I was a little muddle-headed and before I realized it, the carriage already stopped.
The carriage stopped at a very tall and wide building. Astonished, my gaze wandered; Gardens and other buildings could be seen.
I decided to stay inside the carriage, afraid of angering the three people and inciting them to wield their sword.
The smallest of the guard looked at me through the window and spoke." Ms." He gestured for me to come out and I did. He escorted me inside the tall building and after taking an ample amount of turns, we finally stopped in front of a large door. It was engraved with a crown surrounded by roses and swords.
Before a word is even uttered, the double door was kicked open and the two guards nearly experienced being smashed if not for their quick reflex. A middle-aged man ran towards me and the guard; With his face plastered with a smile and arms open.
He embraced me so tightly to the point of not being able to breathe. Once again, he observed my face and ran while yelling," I'll inform him of your arrival." I was dumbfounded and looked at the guard beside me, confused.
"Ms., would you like to go to your room?"
I nodded and followed him.
---
A few minutes after she went to her room, a group of people went inside that very room from before. The atmosphere was suffocating.
The meeting they had only ended until midnight.
" So, in short, we must not tell her anything other than her name or age, not anything related to her except her those two. Not even history. But what about her hus-" the head servant asked.
Her question was answered in a quick second. The man with cold deep blue eyes bellowed," NO! That, you must never even mention. Just call her Ms., Mistress, or Lady but never mention anything about her husband to her."
---
A month passed since and the white-haired Ms.Beatrix lived a comfortable lifestyle. Despite not knowing much, she was still satisfied. She was sent to a building moderately far from the largest building, the building she first entered. Every day, two maids would accompany her, Marie and Matilda.
Although Beatrix is ignorant about the outside world and herself, she was still allowed to know about the people around her. Thus she was well aware of the fallen love between the middle-aged Matilda and their gardener Francis. But nothing beats the midnight love birds, her maid Marie and the young guard, Carl. They would always meet in the garden in the middle of the night, exchanging romantic phrases and promises. This became Beatrix's entertainment recently.
"Ms. Beatrix, Mistress Flore has arrived," Matilda informed me after entering my room.
I hummed and went down together with Matilda. Mrs. Flore is one of the tutors I despise. Everything she says has the word " wrong" and stays overtime frequently. She seems to especially like torturing me.
Mrs. Flore sipping tea exuded an aura of grace and elegance.
" Good Morning Mrs. Flore." I greeted.
"Why, good morning Missus Wait-" Before she could finish, a shoe went flying across the hall and hit her right in the face. With my mouth agape, I could only look at Matilda. I would never make her angry.
Both glared at each other. "Ahm, Then shall we start? Today, we would practice table manners." All I could do was sigh in defeat as I followed towards the lake. There is a table and a couple of chairs.
Throughout the lesson, I swear my back was going to break. Her carriage finally came to pick her up and I was saved from my extreme agony. Right after she was out of sight,
I slumped back in an unladylike manner. Matilda who came and saw me slouched laughed.
" Haha. Don't be disheartened because the next tutor would be Mrs. Naila."
"Finally!" I screamed in glee. She's my magic tutor and damn, how I love magic. It's the only thing I'm interested in.
I sat up and waited for her patiently when Marie came running towards us. "Mrs. Naila, she-she won't be able to come for today's lesson because of a disturbance in the north."
My eyes suddenly became moist. I only have her twice a week!
A chuckle could be heard and I glared at the direction it came from.
" My, my. Why is Bea in the verge of crying?" A middle-aged man came closer. He was the same man who hugged Beatrix.
"Father!" I cried and complained to him." Mrs. Naila won't be teaching me magic today!"
My father, Henry sat down on one of the chairs and looked at me straight in the eye. " I have both good news and bad news for you. Which one would you like first?"
" Let me guess, the bad news is made-up news filled with petty reasons while the good news is the real." I looked at him deadpan.
"Hahaha. That's right!" He laughed. I'm not even surprised.
" Then, what's the good new father?" I leaned in, eager to hear what that good news is about.
" Well, I've thought that since you're interested in magic, how about we send you to the academy?"
I slammed my hand on the table. "There's a magic academy!?"
"Now, calm down first. We'll be visiting the academy first and I'll let you decide-"
Filled with excitement, I did a backflip and father's eyes nearly came out.
" CALM DOWN
