Chapter 5 - Chapter 1.4 Perry the Tailor

POV David

April 8th 913 (2016)

I groaned as I sat up in my bed and stretched. I plodded over to the desk and looked back at the grimy figure in the reflective glass. My brother and had stayed up late into the night talking with our sister and pouring our knowledge into any scrap of paper we could find.

I sighed and pulled my clothes on and tidied myself up as best I could given the circumstances. It wasn't much but I made myself presentable and headed to the door when I heard a soft knock.

"Sir David?" A voice asked softly.

I opened the door to see Isz backing away. I cleared my throat. "What can I do for you?"

"The tailor has arrived to take your measurements. He's in the parlor next to the main hall." She curtsied.

"Ah… sure, I'll head down then." I replied. I'd need new clothes soon, wouldn't want to wear these precious things out now would I? Isz curtsied again and went to inform my brother while I made my way down the hall and down the stairs to the parlor.

I entered the parlor and balked at the dozens of wardrobes filled with a ridiculous amount of clothes. As I stared in horror at what some of these wardrobes contained my brother walked in behind me and by the sharp inhale alone I knew he'd been shocked.

But perhaps the greatest shock came next when a short. And by God do I mean short man came waddling around one of the wardrobes wearing a pink kilt and shirt that showed off his shaven chest. He twirled his mustache with his left hand as he stared at the two of us.

"No, no, no. This just won't do dears. Perry will get you fixed right up so you'll find yourself a good woman!" He chuckled as he waddled over.

I looked down at this hideous creature that barely reached my waist and tried not to recoil as he leaned towards me. I could hear Smith grasping at his thigh… I shot him a glance and he was grabbing at where he'd used to carry his M9 Beretta.

I turned back to the little freak show as he grabbed my hand and yanked my hand away. "The hell is wrong with you?"

The little gremlin struck an exaggerated pose and waggled. Fucking waggled his finger at me! "That's not the speech of a gentleman."

"Perry will get you something good!" he exclaimed as he suddenly was behind us and shoved us deeper into the room. He had this massive mirror that he shoved us in front of and started tssking at us.

"Uh, too much muscle on you two dears! How will you find a woman when you look like that?" he sighed and shook his head and disappeared behind one of the wardrobes. I shot a glance at Smith but the creature came back before we could act.

I tried edging away from it as it tried to force this hideous pink vest on me. "Stay away from me."

"Hmmm, no. Perhaps this would accent you better… but what would make you suitable?" he mused as he stopped trying to shove the vest on me.. He shook his head and disappeared behind the wardrobes again.

Smith and I started backing towards the door. Not taking our eyes off where the little gremlin had gone. The little gremlin reappeared with this horrid frilled shirt right next to us with a beaming smile.

"This'll help fix you right up sir!" Forcing the short into Smith's hands before disappearing again. Smith dropped the shirt as we both bolted for the door.

The creature reappeared as we sprinted past, a yellow kilt in its hands. Its eyes watered as we backed away and it's lips puckered. "Are you… leaving lil' Perry?"

I slammed the door shut as Smith shoved a table in front it. I glanced at Smith. He muttered quietly. "I need a gun."

"You think?" I replied sarcastically as we chuckled. A guard came up to us and we turned to see what she wanted.

"I'm afraid that you should select a few outfits from Perry. It is a gift from our liege." she tried corralling us to the door.

"No, I think we'll be fine." I insisted. The guard tried to push us back into that room. I felt my heart start to race a bit and a quick shared glance with my brother was all that we needed.

I shoved the guard away and Smith instantly tackled her and restrained her, pushing her head into the floor. I squatted next to her with a small smile as I grabbed her sword. "How about… no?"

"What's the meaning of this?" A woman roared from atop the stairs. Smith and I glanced up to see Rebecca stifling laughter beside a woman in her forties that seemed to be fuming.

"I tried to warn you Sara…" Rebecca laughed. The woman gave our sister a displeased snort while Smith and I slowly released our captive. I handed Smith the sword silently when he grabbed it.

The guard stood slowly and glared at us. She made to take her sword back but the glare Smith returned made her stop.

"You'll be responsible for your brother's from here on." Sara replied and turned and left Rebecca. She merry smiled and came skippi mg down the stairs with a large sack of clinching coins tied to her waist.

"We're going shopping!" She squealed excitedly as she grabbed our arms and started dragging us towards the doors.
