Chapter 1 - The Kashyapas

In the middle of the city Nagaruchi, besides the Nag temple in which the cobras are worshipped and fed milk , stood the most glorious bungalow . The bungalow was seperated from the city by gigantic black rock wall which gave it a mysterious appearance. There was a beautiful white fountain with lotus and Japanese koi fluttered through the water. The path to the bungalow was decorated with beautiful white marbles . The magnificent bungalow was the residence of the Kashyapas. The Kashyapas are known for their sword art and battles. Blessed with the spirit of light , their swords could pierce through anything and completely destroy them within seconds . The heir of the Kashyapas would get the sword of the Light , Manikyavilakku the most powerful sword said to be handmade by the God himself. The spirits blessed Nagarjuna with this sword when the world started . The sword was to be only passed to his descendants or it would loose its powers. Only the most powerful one of his children would be fortunate to wield the Manikyavilakku. And a competition for Manikyavilakku happens every 50 year after the heir was chosen. Nagarjuna had two sons, the elder Valsa and the Younger Sree . Valsa won the battle even though Sree was much able . Sree was the son whom Nagarjuna was proud of . He was powerful and never lost a battle until now. But as Valsa won he was chosen as the heir. Sree was jealous and promised that his son Arun would be the nest heir. Indeed Arun was powerful just as his father but not ambitious. Sree was happy because Valsa 's wife left him after their first child who was a girl. Now the chances that Arun would be chosen to wield Manikyavilakku was almost a 100% .

Valsa adored his daughter. He gave her name as Kalyani. At the age of 5 Kalyani had conquered a dragon and tamed him. She was a natural in sword art. This triggered Sree's jealously, he planned to execute Kalyani giving away his humanity. He took Kalyani for a walk in the mountains and throw her off a clifftop when her dragon came for her rescue he killed it without a blink of his eyes. Kalyani fell into the river in the foot of the mountain and was fortunately alive.
