In front of the building, a car parked nearby it, a handsome person went out wearing a business suit. He looked around his surrounding and when he noticed that nobody was around, he was able to release the tension in his nerves. And immediately walked towards the door. After taking a deep breathe, he went inside the building.
"I am here," the businessman spoke as he is feeling uncomfortable because of the gloomy feeling inside the room.
Then the room became cold as a misty figure appeared. The figure could be mistaken for a human being if not for its body being transparent. A smile could be seen in the figure's face as he floated towards the business man.
"I feel cold right now, you know," the businessman complained as he rubs his hands.
"I am sorry about that, I just woke up you see," apologized the misty figure with an embarrassed smile. Then the room became warmer.
"That's better," said the businessman and asked, "Why do you still sleep? I thought that ghosts don't sleep."
"Hehe. True," chuckled the ghost. "We ghosts don't need to sleep. But as a former human, I just find sleeping the best way to recover my metal stress."
"I see. Well anyway I came here for the monthly payment," said the businessman after accepting the reason of the ghost.
"Yes, yes. I'll just get. In the meanwhile try to feel at home," said the ghost as his body goes down the floor.
"Who would feel at home in this creepy place," complained the businessman.
As he waited for the ghost to come back, the businessman started to look around the building. He noticed some scratch marks on the wall. The businessman went closer toward the scratch mark and noticed that the mark went deep in the concrete wall.
"This couldn't be done by that right," as the businessman felt a chill on his spine as he saw the scratch mark.
"Yes it was done by her," said a voice behind the back of the businessman.
"Aaah…," yelped the businessman.
"She drank quite a lot last night and went on a rampage. It took a lot of effort to stop her," continued the ghost and acted that the screaming didn't happen. "Anyway here's the payment. 100 dollars for this month's payment."
"Please stop scaring me," begged the businessman as he grabbed the money from the ghost's hand and stuffed it into his wallet.
"Can't be helped. I'm a ghost after all," shrugged the ghost.
"Right," sighed the businessman. Then he started walking out of the building when he stopped and said, "The authorities are now watching this place. You might want to stop your business for a while."
"You don't have to worry about me. Worry about yourself. After all you are the owner of this building," said the ghost.
"I don't worry about you neither myself. I worry about the people who investigates this place," sighed the businessman.
Then the businessman went out of the building as he says goodbye to the ghost, "Later Steve."
"See ya later Carter," replied Steve.
Steve stared absentmindedly towards the door for a while then sighed.
"It's been two months already ever since that day." Then his body passed through the floor.
* * * * * * * * * * * * *
The creaking of the old wooden door could be heard as a stout man wearing a black coat entered the bar. He removed his coat and walk towards the coat hanger and hanged it. His bulging muscles that couldn't be hidden by his clothes could be seen. And his face has scar so deep in his left cheek.
Then he walked towards the empty counter, sat down on an old stool and became silent. After being silent for a minute he spoke with a hoarse voice, "Scotch on the rocks."
Then out of nowhere Steve came out and put on a glass filled with scotch and ice on the table in front of the scar-faced man.
"A tiring day is it Evans," asked Steve.
"It is," said Evans as he took a sip from his scotch. "Too many orders today. It makes me want to quit."
"It just shows how much they trusts you," smiled Steve as he disappeared from the counter.
A minute later, Steve came out with a plate of newly cooked steak. He put down the plate on the counter and gently pushed it towards Evans. "It's on the house."
"Oohh. It looks good. Since when did this place became a diner?"
"I was thinking of adding food in the menu aside from the normal drinks I have," answered Steve as he once disappeared again from the counter.
While Evans is eating his steak, the door opened once more and a beautiful lady wearing a laboratory coat came in.
She briskly walked towards the counter and shouted, "Give me something to drink!"
Steve appeared with a miserable smile and spoke, "You don't have to shout Emily. Anyway here's a martini."
Emily rolled her eyes and complained, "You were not around. So I have no choice to shout." She took the glass filled martini and drank in one gulp. "Ahh. That hits the spot. Give me one more glass."
"I guess one is enough for you young lady."
"Who are you? The owner eh Scar-face," asked Emily towards Evans obviously annoyed.
Evans did not fight back and just continued eating while Steve changed the empty glass with a filled one. "Well, I agree with Evans here. After all you just went wild last night. And you are a doctor after all, you still have patients to attend to later this morning."
Emily harrumphed and drank the martini slowly. After drinking all of the martini, she stood up, left some paper bills on the counter and walk towards the door.
"Good bye Emily. Take care."
Emily just shrugged then banged on the door when she went out. Steve made a helpless look when he saw that. "Couldn't be she gentler when going out?"
"That's how she is," Evans said as he stood up also. He left some paper bills on the counter and walked towards the coat hanger to grab his coat. "I'm off Steve. And the steak was good."
"I am glad to hear it," Steve smiled from Evans compliment. And the closing of the door could be heard.
"It seems that there will be no people coming here tonight eh." Steve sighed. "Well today's after all Monday."
And when he thought that there will be no costumer for the day, the door unexpected opened.
