Mae was ready tired of the whole situation, she was currently seriously thinking of leaving her brother to deal with the word vomiting boy.
She was about to let the two battle it out, but her brother looked her way a bit panicky and motioned towards the boy that was condencing a huge fireball between his hands.
She showed him four fingers, and he gulped. Both of them knew she was asking him to do her homework and clean her room for four months. He gave her a puppy-dog pout and pleaded silently.
She was about to give in, when he suddenly dodged the incoming fireball,
"You two seem close, why didn't you come earlier you heartless man? Now I wanna beat you even more!"
Mae and Asher both turned to the boy in astonishment, wasn't he the more shameless one? Wasn't he the one that kidnapped her in the first place?
"She decided to help her brother after all. This boy needed a good lesson. She threw herself against the plastic wall and a screamed distressed,
"Brother! Save me! I'm so scared of the tomato head over there. Brother!"
Mae was laughing internally so hard she wanted to double over. She made her eyes tear up and looked at both of them, trying to look pitiful. She nearly laughed again when she saw her bother's thunder struck expression.
Playing the helpless maiden really didn't suit her. She winked at Asher and he finally snapped out of his daze. He quickly dodged another fireball and stretched out his hand toward her and exclaimed as dramatically as he could,
"My dear one and only sister. I don't know what this disposable person has done to you for you to be in this state, but rest assured, I shall save you!"
The fireballs paused for a few moments, as Jan had a wronged facial expression. Both of the twins snickered and when he realised they were joking around Jan nearly blew a blood vessel.
"What? You two are so annoying! I'm even battling you and you two are still taking me so lightly! Fight me you coward!"
Asher looked at Jan and sighed,
"I would gladly fight you, but I'm afraid that I can't fight with my sister in that state. If you let her go, I will challenge you."
Jan calmed down somewhat, after hearing that he would fight him, but there was no guarantee that they would stay and fight. He was hesitating and thinking it through.
"Ok, how about you check on her, but inside the cage. Then, after making sure nothing is wrong with her, we can fight."
Asher pretended to think and finally agreed. While he was walking to Mae, he flasher her a devious smirk, as if telling her how amazing his acting was. When she saw it, she just smiled lightly and made a wiping movement to remind him of his promise.
When he finally entered her plastic 'cage' he looked like a puppy that got left in the rain. He checked her for injuries even if he knew they weren't there and when he hugged her, she switched them. Now she was in his clothes and position and he in her's.
When they let go of the hug, Asher made a waving movement and brought up fake tears.
"My dear, amazing, wonderful brother... be careful. I know you are the most handsome, smart, brilliant..."
He was going to continue, but she just rolled her eyes and stood opposite Jan.
She knew she had to put up a show and all, but she was as usual, really tired. She waited for him to make the first move and dodged his fireball. She dodged left and right, making sure to let a few graze her here and there to make her look like she was barely dodging and dirty.
She condenced a big water sphere and sent it his way, followed by lots of smaller fireballs in all directions he would possibly dodge. Of course she also used that time to run closer to him to engage in close combat.
Why? Well, in her humble opinion, close combat looks the coolest and it's easier to look like she is struggling. If she was going to fight, better let this kid give up once and for all without knowing she was above stage nine.
He had some skill and dodged or deflected the attacks she sent his way. He pulled out a sword made out of metal and coated it with ice. She raised her brow and paused for a second.
She gasped and pretended to be shocked, (without much expression overly animated movements did the trick) and exclaimed,
"No way, you can make your own sword out of metal already? That's one of the advanced techniques!"
He puffed out his chest proudly and got even more full of himself if it was possible. He was about to start bragging, but Mae decided to show a little skill to shut him up... and shut up he did.
She flicked her wrist and a spear made of metal appeared, but her spear was not only covered in ice, but had an ice blue flame surrounding it.
Most people would be wondering, why a spear? Why not a sword or daggers or a bow and arrow. There is a good explanation of course... a spear can be used for most situations, be it long distance or short range.
She would love to look cool like an assasin with daggers or be righteous with a sword or even be a sharp shooter with a bow, but it just wasn't her style. A spear is sharp, she can throw it at someone and wack and stab.
Jan's mouth nearly touched the ground.
"N, no way! How is that possible?"
She twirled the spear a few times and it made a blue infinity sign in the air as it spun. She had an indifferent tone when she spoke and looked at the collapsed figure.
"Now that you see the difference in strength, let's end the fight here."
She hardened her voice and added a last part a little harsher.
"Before someone gets hurt."
He just nodded numbly and Mae walked to get Asher out of the box and they walked out feeling like they owned the world.
Even she had to admit, that was pretty fun. Hopefully no one else would try that again though, she would rather sleep at home for a while.
