Calvin knew what she meant and his smile reached his eyes as he calmly changed the topic. "So do you want to be moved to tears and then devote yourself to me?"
By then, the valet had driven the car over. Calvin took the car keys and was about to take Serenity for a ride when his phone rang.
"Isn't it just a lousy birthday? What's the point of celebrating it every year? I'm busy. I'll come if I'm free later."
Serenity overheard his conversation and urged him to go. "If you have something to do, you can leave first."
But despite his reputation, Calvin had always been a gentleman. "That won't do. I'll send you home first and then go over."
And yet, his phone kept ringing as the rest of the party continued pestering him. Calvin was so annoyed that he wanted to smash his phone but Serenity stopped him. "I'll take a taxi back myself."
