Chapter 3 - Chapter 003: What If I Slept With Him?

Yet, when she thought about how this man, who normally conceded to whatever she said, had forcefully and repeatedly pushed her underwater in spite of her humble pleas, she felt an indescribable sense of frustration.

She remembered it very clearly.

She had begged him for a long time, but not only did his attitude remain utterly unshaken, but his expression was also cold throughout, without a trace of sympathy. She had even kissed him, had even...asked him for a night of pleasure.

Chi Huan didn't even know whether to be angry with herself for behaving so shamefully under the influence of the drug, or whether... she had been so proactive in seducing him, yet he didn't react at all.

Isn't she pretty, isn't her figure good?

The men yearning for her were plentiful as the carps crossing the river. Could it be that she didn't have the slightest bit of feminine charm in front of him?

Mou Xigu disregarded her, who was drugged, for a married woman.

This man had spent the entire night with her, drugged, and had no thoughts whatsoever...

Chi Huan felt a sense of desolation, clenched her fists, and said coldly, "Not a word about tonight's events is allowed to be spoken."

The man replied indifferently, "I understand, Miss. Rest assured."

After a quiet moment, Mo Shiqian threw away the towel and brought out a hair dryer to start drying her hair.

The sound of the hair dryer was very soft, and suddenly Chi Huan had a sudden and absurd thought.

Tonight, she seemed to find this man exceptionally handsome. Was he really that good-looking, or was it the drugs that had muddled her senses?

Turning around to take another clear look, her vision went dark—

"Miss."

Chi Huan passed out.

Before completely losing consciousness, she distinctly felt strong arms catching her.

It's just like...he can easily catch her anytime, as effortlessly as picking up a kitten.

......

Chi Huan had a fever – 39.2 degrees Celsius.

By the time she woke up, it was already evening.

Before her eyes were fully open, through the hazy sunset, she saw a tall figure standing by the bed.

She instinctively thought it was her personal bodyguard, "Mo Shiqian, I'm thirsty."

Mou Xigu heard her call for Mo Shiqian upon waking, then suddenly remembered when he received the news and rushed to the ward, although that man, as usual, greeted him indifferently as Mr. Mou, there was a clear flash of icy coolness in his eyes.

He frowned slightly but still turned to pour her a glass of water.

It wasn't until Chi Huan was helped to sit up that she clearly saw the person in front of her was not Mo Shiqian, but the man who had left her alone in the hotel the night before.

She didn't take the water or speak, just looking at him.

Mou Xigu held out the glass, she didn't take it, and so he just maintained that gesture, speaking hoarsely, "Chi Huan, I'm sorry about last night."

"What if I slept with another man last night?"

His fingers tensed, furrowing his brows before he responded, "I know your bodyguard has been following you all along, he wouldn't allow any mishaps."

Chi Huan tilted her head, her purity mixed with a captivating charm. The media described her as enchanting yet not vulgar.

She suddenly asked with a smile, "What if I slept with him?"

Mou Xigu's handsome face remained calm, "He does not seem like someone who would make such a basic mistake."

Chi Huan lowered her head, looking at the white sheets in the hospital room.

The man's voice came from above, "Chi Huan, drink some water first."

After some silence, she still reached out to take the glass and took a few sips.

She set the cup down and finally lifted her head to look at the handsome face before her, the one she had liked and chased for years. Tugging at her lips, she smiled and said, "She didn't marry well, what do you plan to do? Call off our engagement and take responsibility for her happiness?"

Mou Xigu, with one hand stuffed in his trouser pocket, still had his attractive eyebrows slightly furrowed.

Chi Huan tilted her head back, languidly drawing out her words, "Four years ago, she was a Cinderella who your family looked down upon. Now, she's a Cinderella with a marital history. If you want to get back with her now... would your mother consider jumping off a building?"

There was silence for a good while.

Mou Xigu spoke faintly and slowly, "The engagement won't be called off, I will marry you. Her issues... I will take care of them before the wedding."

His eyes and brow were distant, almost void of any emotion.

A pang of pain shot through Chi Huan's heart.

But she still smiled with her eyes curved, "Okay, I believe you."

After speaking, she threw off the covers, ready to get up, "I'm hungry, take me out for a meal, as an apology for what happened last night."

Mou Xigu reached out to hold her shoulder, saying in a deep voice, "You're still feverish. What do you want to eat? I'll have someone buy it for you."

She pouted her blush-red lips and coquettishly said, "I'm already better. I hate lying on a hospital bed, it's so boring."

"Really better?"

She nodded her head vigorously.

"Then good, I'll take you out for a meal."

Chi Huan changed into her clothes, then made a call to Mo Shiqian, saying indifferently, "I'm going out to eat with Xigu, handle my discharge procedures for me, and don't come to pick me up. Xigu will take me home."

The other end was quiet for a few seconds, before replying with a word as simple as it gets, "Okay."

Dressed for the deep autumn day, Chi Huan wore a beige V-neck sweater as a base layer with a light red coat over it. Her long, dense, seaweed-like curly hair fell to her waist, and she carried a limited-edition handbag from a big brand.

With delicate features and pale skin, she was charming and vivid.

The door to the hospital room had just opened, and before Chi Huan could step out, she saw the woman standing at the door.

Chi Huan was startled; the smile that had been on her face quickly faded away.

Su Yabing.

She was dressed in blue and white hospital attire, and her black hair couldn't hide the purplish bruises on her face. She stood there with her head down, fingers twisted together, seemingly very uncomfortable.

Upon seeing Mou Xigu, she obviously stiffened.

Chi Huan spoke indifferently, "Miss Su."

It was as if Su Yabing only then snapped back to reality, apologetically looking at her, "I'm sorry, Miss Chi… I heard from Xigu that you had a fever and were hospitalized. Since it's close by, I thought I'd come to see you."

As she spoke, she suddenly remembered something and stepped back, "Are you two going out? I won't disturb you then."

With that, she turned to leave, almost fleeing.

Chi Huan called out to her again, "Miss Su."

Su Yabing paused her steps and turned around, managing a strained smile as she softly asked, "Do you need something else, Miss Chi?"

If Chi Huan was the radiant beauty with a natural aura, then Su Yabing was the sort of delicate and tragically beautiful woman that was rare in this era.

Mou Xigu took a hold of Chi Huan's arm, his eyebrows twisted as he spoke indifferently, "Weren't you hungry? Let's go, have a meal."

The force he applied on her wrist was so heavy it hurt.

Chi Huan looked down at the man's well-defined fingers on her wrist, her heart tightening.

Did he think she was going to make things difficult for this woman?

She turned her head and tilted it slightly as she looked at Su Yabing, "I heard from Xigu that your husband has a tendency for domestic violence and often hits you. If I remember correctly, in America, domestic violence can be reported to the police."
