"The plum and snow compete in spring but refuse to yield, the poet struggles to evaluate through his letters. The plum must cede to the snow's three-part whiteness, yet the snow loses to the plum's unique fragrance." Luo Yuqing recited Lu Meipo's famous "Xuemei" from the Song Dynasty.
"Plum without snow lacks vibrancy, snow without poetry bores the common. As evening falls and poetry ensues, snow comes again; together with plum, they make perfect spring." Yang Qingyin recited another poem by Lu Meipo from the Song Dynasty, also named "Xuemei".
