On Sunday, July 3, "Firefly" raked in $21.78 million, down 11.6%, averaging $5,344 per theater; "War of the Worlds" made $19.77 million, down 14.7%, averaging $5,060 per theater. "Firefly" won every metric and thus the third round. This little bit here and there added up to a weekend total of $69.5 million with an average of $17,055; the runner-up managing $64.87 million with an average of $16,601.
