Chapter 16 - Chapter 16 Worth it!

"Shit! Does this bad luck affect more than just me?!"

"Screeech--!!", the Land Rover couldn't brake in time and crashed right into the Ferrari!

"Bang!" The Land Rover smashed into the rear of the Ferrari, and the massive impact immediately caused the already slowing Ferrari to skid sideways!

"Screeech--!!" The car spun on the road, tires screeching against the ground, sending up a cloud of smoke, followed by a loud "Bang," as it scraped against another car while spinning!

"Beeep--!! Beeeeep--!!"

The sudden chaos on the road caused the cars behind to start honking frantically, throwing the entire street into disarray!

It was obvious this was just the beginning. The Ferrari slid sideways under the force of the Land Rover's impact for more than ten meters. Despite scraping another car midway, it still didn't stop, and that's when the real danger finally arrived!

The Ferrari, after two collisions, sped towards the opposite lane!

"Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!!!" Wang Hao broke into a cold sweat, the difference in status between him and the woman long forgotten as he fiercely tugged at his handcuffs, trying to break free, but his strength wasn't enough.

In this critical moment, the woman was clearly in shock. No matter how noble her background or how cold and arrogant her personality was, she was helpless in the face of impending death.

If it was the correct driving lane, a rear-end collision would be manageable, but once they entered the opposing lane, a head-on collision with an incoming car could be fatal! They could really die!

"Think of something, we must think of something!" Wang Hao sweated profusely, his mind racing as he gripped the steering wheel with his left hand, staring intently at the road ahead—he could already see a big bus coming towards them from less than fifty meters away!

"Beeep--!! Beeeeep--!!"

Seeing the red Ferrari suddenly spinning and rampaging towards them, all the cars in the opposite lane started honking like mad, especially the big bus, whose horn was almost shattering the glass.

"Bang! Bang!" First, a small sedan couldn't avoid it in time and crashed into the Ferrari's tail, pushing the Ferrari another ten meters. The Ferrari spun again, its side facing the oncoming bus!

With less than twenty meters between the two vehicles and the speed of the bus, there was no time to brake. If they collided, the Ferrari would be smashed to pieces!

To make matters worse, just as the bus headed towards the woman's Ferrari, there was a loud "Bang" and a tire burst!

Damn, this bad luck was like a massive killing weapon, damn it!

Life and death hung in the balance!

At this moment, every move could mean the difference between heaven and hell!

"Floor it! Quick!" Wang Hao gripped the steering wheel tightly, yelling with all his might, "Better hit a small car than a big one! Go!"

Surprisingly, the woman listened obediently this time. As soon as Wang Hao instructed her to floor it, she stomped on the gas, and the Ferrari roared like a red lightning bolt, shooting forward!

"Beeep--!!"

The big bus's horn blared non-stop as it wobbled, barely missing the Ferrari's tail by less than a foot, then plowed ahead for over thirty meters, crashing into more than a dozen other cars before finally stopping.

Meanwhile, the Ferrari charged back into the correct lane, and with a loud "Bang," another car failed to brake in time and slammed into its side, pushing the Ferrari another ten meters forward. Another several cars collided one after another, pushing the Ferrari like a hockey puck for tens of meters.

But the scariest part was yet to come. Just five or six meters in front of the Ferrari was a truck loaded with steel pipes!

Wang Hao could even see the blinding reflections of the steel pipes under the sun!

Damn, this was a chain-reaction deathtrap!

"Get down!" Wang Hao shouted. At this point, he couldn't care about anything else. He mustered all his strength, reached out with his free left hand, and pressed down on the woman's left shoulder, shoving her down forcefully. "Get down!"

He pushed the woman down onto his chest, and at that moment, there was a shattering sound of glass crashing. The Ferrari crashed into the truck's rear, and the steel pipes pierced through the windows into the back of the woman's seat!

The steel pipes were less than five centimeters from the woman's body!

"Bang, bang, bang!" The Ferrari instantly came to a halt, but the cars behind couldn't brake in time, causing a pile-up of four to fifty cars within seconds!

"Huff... huff..." The car finally came to a stop, and Wang Hao's heart pounded with fear. Thankfully, he had reacted quickly; otherwise, the steel pipes could have pierced the woman's throat by now!

Finally, everything came to a halt.

Was this streak of awful luck finally over?!

"Thank god, we made it out alive!" Wang Hao wiped the cold sweat off his forehead.

The earlier scene had almost scared him to death. He had been constantly on edge, knowing this was a day of bad luck, so he remained highly alert at all times. Otherwise, anyone else faced with this sudden situation would have been terrified out of their wits.

"Are we... alive?" The woman, still in shock, asked, her sunglasses veiling her eyes. Wang Hao could hear the tension in her voice.

Her body was trembling, and Wang Hao thought—she might have never been so scared in her life...

"Alright, scared you, didn't it?" Wang Hao gently patted the woman's shoulder with his movable left hand. "Don't worry, it's over. We survived, we're fine."

He paused for a moment and then asked, "Are you... hurt?"

"I'm... okay. Just a scare, no injuries," the woman replied, leaning against Wang Hao's chest, her palms sweaty and her body still cold. After a while, she finally realized Wang Hao had saved her life. She whispered, "Thank you... If it weren't for you, I might have..."

In those mere tens of seconds, Wang Hao had saved her twice!

Looking back, the woman still felt a lingering fear.

"As long as you're okay," Wang Hao exhaled, then gently hugged the woman's shoulder. "That scared me to death. My soul almost left my body." Her shoulder was soft, and it felt incredibly good to touch.

Despite the terror earlier, just that hug...

It was worth it!
