Chapter 3 - The Green Garden - CHAPTER THREE

Clary looked into his eyes nearly in tears. He knew how much this meant to her. And the fact that he cared for it still although he had been away for so long warmed her heart. He had been there when they buried grandma. The shadow of the child he used to be went with her that day.

"I just don't want them to sell it. My grandma would have hated to lose that place. I… I grew up there." She confessed, admitting that a part of her did it for herself. It was not only for her grandmother.

"I understand. I would hate to see it sold. Our greatest summers were there." He answered reminiscing. Clary nodded, agreeing. The long hot days where thay ran across the beautiful variation of flowers were the best. A large plate of cookies and story time after.

"I just know the first few weeks is going to take some adjusting. But it's going to be fine."

"Who will come with us?" He asked.

"Just us. You and me." She answered. Realization bloomed. It meant she would have him to her self. Away and hidden together. She blushed.

"I'll do my best to help," Eric said.

"It's your garden too, you were grandma's favorite," Clary said. She remembered when they were younger, how grandma would always tell Eric that he was the grandson she never had. When all her mother could give were daughters, the one who was upset wasn't Marvin, but her grandmother instead.

She was the old school kind of woman, who believed that having a son is of utmost importance. In order to continue their family name, a son was required. She loved Clary and her older sister Miranda with all her heart. She died for it.

"She… did give me quite the attention. But I always thought you were the favorite." Eric answered, taking a seat in one of the chairs. Clary sat beside him, enjoying their small conversation. It was like a dream to be able to talk to him so openly.

"How come?"

"Well, she always told me to take care of you. To protect you and make sure you're alright. She said I wasn't to disappoint you." Answered Eric, his eyes drifted away. His face was beautiful, with well lined jaw, high cheekbones, and strong lips. His eyes as dark as night. And when he looked up, his eyes meeting hers, she felt her heart flutter.

"When will we be going?"

"I believe tomorrow."

"Tomorrow?" Eric parreted. He must have thought they were going awfully fast. But she couldn't wait.

"Mr. Osborn will have the papers of the house for me to sign. But he's in town only for one week. If we travel now, we will reach him in time."

"What of our belongings?" Eris asked, his eyes darted around the room. There were things a lady needed and she doubted Eric could carry it all. Her corset, dresses, and shoes. But did she really need them?

"Just take my simple dresses. Perhaps the one I would feel comfortable in while I'm working," Clary asked, imagining a long day of work in the fields. It would be nice to use cotton dresses in order to move lightly.

"Alright, I'll make sure your belongings are ready by tomorrow. What are you going to do?" Eric asked, resting his head on one arm. His legs crossed in front of him. He looked like a mountain cat resting on a branch. She looked away quickly before he thinks she's staring at him. "I'm going to sleep, please leave me for the night,"

"Of course, I will do that." Clary stayed seated while Eric left the chair. She heard his footsteps as he went for the door, but instead of a closing door she heard, "Good night Clary, sleep well,"

She looked back right when the door fell shut. Clary closed her lips, disappointed that she couldn't say the same. He was gone so fast. She thought, lazily pulling at her dress. It was easier taking it off than putting it on. All she needed to do was pull when she needed to strip.

After keeping her dress on the chair, she reached for her sleeping dress. A transparent gown with low cut. Revealing the roundness of her breasts. Falling over her hour glass body.

Clary slipped into her bed, her eyes glued shut. She never felt tired like this before. To be mentally drained and always on guard.

Marvin had given her a strong argument. How she was too young to run a business and that Eric would end up with all the responsibility. Clary sniffled, right! Of course she was too young. But when grandma left home when she was seventeen, was she old enough! Was it fair for her? She didn't think so.

She was a green witch and in nature she thrived. Clary knew if she puts her mind into it she could replace her grandmother in a matter of months. With Eric by her side, she knew she'd create a wonderful place for her to live and meet ends.
