Alex and Jason kept descending, and Asuna and Hikaru kept ascending. Watson was in awe of Alex's brilliant planning.
'Marvelous. Just marvelous.'
He started clapping from the excitement. I'm not going to write what Vanessa was doing because we all know that she felt miserable and grateful at the same time, so just leave her at that.
'But will he be able to stop the missiles from launching?'
Watson was playing a game against Alex. To him, it was nothing more than that. He did not feel threatened or scared; everything was for his master.
'Knock, knock. Guess who?'
Alex kicked open the door. He saw Watson, the two guards, and Vanessa tied up. The guards fired at Alex. He tore the door to shield himself and attacked the guards with it.
'Aren't you having fun, Vanessa?'
'Welcome, Alex.'
Watson greeted him.
Jason entered right after Alex. Watson was comfortably sitting on his chair. Jason untied Vanessa.
'Alex, be careful. Watson has gone through the superhuman procedure.'
Vanessa removed the cloth from her mouth.
'That only makes things more fun.'
Alex cracked his knuckles. He was ready for a full-blown fight.
You should worry about the missiles instead of me. They are 2 minutes away from launching.'
Watson cheerfully talked. To him, everything was going according to plan. The missiles can't be stopped from here. Alex would have to search for them and stop them in 2 minutes. Still enough time for him to get away.
'Yeah, about that.'
'The 3 ICBM missiles are diffused, Alex.'
Hikaru entered the room, along with Asuna. Watson stood up from his chair, he didn't smile anymore.
'This is an unexpected turn of events.'
Watson was surrounded by all 5 of them. Vanessa, Jason, Asuna, Hikaru, and Alex.
'Let's see now.
Bring back Jason, check.
Confiscate your nuclear toys, check.
Stop you from whatever you're doing, check.
All that's left is to kick your ass.'
Alex recalled his goals for the game.
'Watson, you can go to jail honorably or with all of your bones broken, it's your choice.'
Alex carefully watched for an unexpected attack. This should be over, but it didn't feel like it. Why? Because Watson smiled again.
'You have grown wonderfully, Alex.'
Iron shutters struck the ground, the door was blocked. The serene view of the ocean was replaced with steel. All of this happened in an instant with a push of a button.
'The room is bombproof. You can not get out.'
The room was blocked from the inside. It didn't matter, all of them were inside. What was the point of trapping them inside while being with them? How wrong they were to think that way.
Watson started to laugh hysterically. He laughed like a maniac. His laugh ensued anxiety and fear into the group. He took out a gun. All the of them were prepared, if he thinks he can shoot them then--
*Bang*
Watson shot himself in the head. Even super healing has its limit, it couldn't heal that. Watson died right in front of them. Of all the possibilities Alex anticipated, this was not one of them.
He laid there lifelessly. They all looked at each other in shock. What were they supposed to do now? They were supposed to have a climactic fight, but Watson just died.
'So, now what?'
Alex broke the awkward silence.
'I'm always pleased to see you in good health, Alex.'
That voice. It came from inside the room, but none of them had said it. Besides, that voice, it shouldn't be heard anymore. It was Watson's voice, but he was dead. The sound wasn't coming from his mouth but from the speakers.
'Watson?'
'It's unfortunate that my clone had to die. Cloning technology has advanced so much.'
Cloning, a field where you take a sample from a living organism and create an exact replica of it. Of course, we stupid humans tried to clone ourselves too. But as the philosophers say: "Humans can not best God." It was a failure. The clones made were fragile and weak. They died quickly, like defective goods.
Since it conflicted with humanity, morality, ethics, and something else philosophical, human cloning was stopped and made illegal all over the world.
'Oh, you can't see me. Let me help you.'
The lights went off, and having no other source, the room was in complete darkness. A loud noise could be heard, one which did not originate from the apartment but outside.
A ray of light pierced the black pit and expanded on the iron shutters. Those lights made a picture, and a man appeared.
'There, all better.'
It was a projection.
'Hi, everyone. I can't hear you, so don't bother replying.'
Watson shook his hand to greet them. He was sitting comfortably in a room that had wooden walls.
'I'm proud of you, Alex, for making it this far. In return, I'll show you something nice.'
Watson clicked on a button and popped open another panel that covered half the wall. The video showed nothing but the blue ocean outside. Then slowly yet gradually, a white object appeared in their vision. They couldn't make out what it was. All they knew was that it was colossal and was really near.
'Ta-dah, It's a ship. A battleship, to be exact.'
The panel showed the live footage of what was happening outside. The ship was only 50 meters away from the building. They could hear the water around it being split. The noise that the gigantic beast made to let others know of its existence.
'You thought we were going to launch ICBM missiles. We are not that stupid. Those things can easily be detected and stopped. For China, it would only be an annoying mosquito.'
-- No, stop!
The wave of despair splashed over them all as they watched. They had walked into Watson's, no, Jira's plan.
--Stop, please!
'Let's see if the same can be said for cruise missiles. If they couldn't stop them, then they were not up to the task and if they did, then it would be a great awakening call to stay on their toes for the coming storm.'
Watson pulled up a third panel. The panel showed the massive guns of the battleship. It showed how the men were adjusting it to get the right position.
--Don't do it.
They couldn't see each other, but everyone felt the same frustration. Needless to say, Vaness tried to contact WS. The signals were being jammed. They couldn't do anything except watch.
'Okay, one, two, three.'
'No!'
Vanessa screamed. Three missiles were shot out by the humongous guns followed by their ear-piercing sound.
