I can see mother start to form cracks. She looks calm though.
"It seems my time is up. I have told you everything I could, now, I'll leave the rest to Kido."
Esther: "Mother, what's happening to you? Are you leaving me again?!"
"I'm sorry my child, but spirits can't stay in the human world for more than 3 days. If I try to stay any longer, I'll shatter and become nothing."
Esther: "No! You can't leave me again! I can't lose you again!"
"Esther, I have one last thing to say. Please listen, this is another reason why Pie is going to help you. That egg I gave you will become more important then you can ever imagine. If someone bad gets their hands on it, there's no telling what could happen. Now, I leave the rest to you…"
Esther: "Mother... You're leaving me forever?"
"Cheer up. This isn't goodbye, someday, we'll meet again. But please don't let it be too soon."
Esther: "Understood…"
"Good, now, bye. Esther…"
Mother shatters into a million pieces. I can feel my tears running down my face, good to see that even after death she's still my hope. I turn to look at Pie. He takes off my hood. Wow! He looks almost like me, but his eyes are weird.
Pie: "Damn hag, she just won't let me rest. Hey, you. Looks like I'll be tagging along with you for a while. Don't mind the eyes, I'm blind."
Esther: "Why do you look like me?"
Pie: "Shut up! I should be asking why you look like me!"
Esther: "But how do you know I look like you if you can't see?"
Pie: "I may be blind, but I can see more clearly than you can ever. Anyways, get over here so that I can hit you with my cane."
Esther: "Hahaha, no."
Pie: "Oh sorry, did I stutter? I wasn't asking, that was an order."
Esther: "And if I don't?"
Pie: "Then have fun with becoming an actual spirt."
Esther: "Alright, alright."
I float to him, he quickly hits me with the cane. I sit up abruptly, ouch! Seems I'm back in my body, my legs are pretty numb.
Pie: "Wow, that Illumi sure did a number on your muscles. In a normal person, there's no way that you can heal. But luckily, you're body isn't normal. I say you'll heal in about a week. But that is only thanks to what I'm about to do. Hold still."
He grabs another diamond from me and crushes it into dark power. He chants something under his breath before his hand starts to glow. He rubs my legs, they aren't hurting as much as they used to.
Pie: "There. With this, you'll heal in no time."
Esther: "How did you do that?"
Pie: "I simply sped up your recovery rate of your legs so that they can heal faster by using those diamonds you seem to not question as to why they ever appear when you cry."
Esther: "Good question, do you know why they appear?"
Pie: "I do. But as I said before, you're not strong enough to hide this secret. Anyways, I'm guessing you're going to go save that Killua kid."
Esther: "Yes, I am."
Pie: "Great."
I rummage through my clothes, where is the egg?
Pie: "If you're looking for the egg, don't bother. It's in your spirit and it will only hatch after certain conditions are fulfilled."
Esther: "What are those conditions?"
Pie: "Don't know."
Esther: "Eh?"
I stare at Pie with a questionable expression.
Pie: "They vary from person to person. Anyways, I'll leave for now. I'm only going to supervise you, not help. Got that? Good, now bye."
Before I could say anything, he disappear, leaving behind only the cane. I grab the cane. The sound of the doorknob turning makes me jolt. Someone opens the door. I see Gon, his arm is in a bandage. He stops abruptly.
Gon: "…Were you…crying?"
Oh no, I forgot to wipe my tears.
Esther: "Yeah, a bit. But that's only because of my messed up muscles in my legs. I'll be fine though, it's still healable. Although I may be slower for now. So, did you hear about Killua?"
Gon: "I did. And I told Illumi to apologize."
Esther: "Man, you look furious. Calm down okay?"
Gon: "…ok…so, you showed everyone your ears and tail?"
Esther: "Yeap. They are cool with it though."
Actually, I haven't checked if they are. Will Kurapika and Leorio look at me like I'm a monster? I don't want to see that.
Gon: "Oh, that's right. Did you receive a card?"
Esther: "You mean this?"
Gon: "Yes. We have our very first challenge be to protect that card at all costs."
Esther: "Right…and…Gon, I want to save Killua. Will you come with me?"
Gon: "Yes! And I know where he is. He's on Kukuroo Mountain. Kurapika ordered tickets, I came to get you so that we can leave."
Esther: "Alright. Give me a second."
I put on my hood again and tuck in my tail as I use the cane to come off the bed. It's much more harder than it sounds. It's like I'm walking on needles with ants occasionally crawling and biting me. Ouch! I keep smiling, don't make the others worry…
Esther: "Let's go!"
When I exit the room, I see Kurapika and Leorio standing outside. I freeze, and look down. If they think I'm a monster, I don't want to see it. We wait in silence, I glance up at them. They are smiling.
Kurapika: "Hey. Let's go now. What are you waiting for?"
Leorio: "We don't want to be late for our flight."
I can feel myself wanting to cry, they didn't turn me away. Gon pats my head, I'm still shorter then him. I smile.
Esther: "ok."
