Although Ye Wudao hadn't managed to blind the giant snake, it was not without effect; he successfully drew its attention to himself.
The snake's tail, like a gigantic whip, lashed fiercely at Ye Wudao. The tail was covered in hard black scales, which was evidence that it was about to transform into a dragon.
Ye Wudao hadn't expected the giant snake to be so clever; it even knew how to protect its eyes—a true case of "with age comes cunning, be it man or snake."
Ye Wudao immediately rolled to dodge the strike of the tail. With a series of booming noises, several huge stone statues nearby were toppled by the sweep of the tail. The force of the tail was tremendous; had Ye Wudao been hit directly, he might have been crippled if not killed.
Seeing that its tail hadn't hit Ye Wudao, the snake quickly turned its body and slithered towards him, its triangular head hissing at him.
