Sunday
Takeshi wakes up and lets out a yawn before stretching. As he stretches his arms, one of his hands hits a little fluffball laying right next to his head on his pillow. The ball of fluff opens its light blue eyes with irritation before yawning and standing up.
"Oh, you're still here," Takeshi sighs, remembering the cat from the night prior. He gets off of the bed and starts towards his closet before stopping and turning to look at the cat.
"You really do plan on staying here, don't you?" The cat sits on his pillow, licking its paw before looking at him as he speaks.
"Since Maiman likes you so much, maybe we can set up a little bed or something for you in her room, so you can be her cat," it stretches out on Takeshi's pillow before laying down again, it's back to him.
"Or… not," Takeshi lets out a small laugh before turning to the closet and grabbing some clothes.
"The cat is still here," Takeshi laughs as he reaches the bottom of the stairs where Arhiyan stood in the kitchen at the stove while Maiman sat at the wooden dining table eating a bowl of cereal in her human form.
"It is? Really? That's great!" Maiman quickly looks up at Takeshi as he enters the room.
"I was thinking last night that if you wanted to keep it, I could give you money to go buy things for it," Arhiyan smiles from the stove as she cooks food.
"I don't know. What if it has an owner who's missing it?" Takeshi sighs.
"We can put up little flyers, but I feel like there would already be missing posters if it belonged to someone," Maiman shrugs.
"She's got a point," Arhiyan laughs.
"Yeah, but," Takeshi starts.
"No. No buts. Let me finish making breakfast and then I'll give you some money so you two can go get it some things," Arhiyan turns and looks at Takeshi who sighs before nodding in response.
"Ok, fine," Takeshi sighs, defeated.
"Yay!" Maiman smiles.
"Ok, so we got it a little blue cat bed, a little teal cat collar, two blue bowls for food and water, a bag of cat food, some little toys, a litter box, some litter, some treats… are we missing anything?" Maiman looks at Takeshi as they walk through the pet store aisles.
"No, I think we're good," Takeshi replies, a bag of cat food on one shoulder and a bag of cat litter on the other while Maiman carries a basket with the other things.
"Oh! Oh Takeshi! Look! Our cat would love one!" Maiman takes off down the aisle towards a row of large cat trees.
"No. No no no no no Maiman. We might not even be keeping this cat. We aren't going to but a cat tree for it," Takeshi sighs.
"But, I want to keep it. Please. If someone puts up stuff about missing that cat then we'll give em back," Maiman whines.
"Ok, fine. We're not getting a cat tree though," Takeshi lets out a long sigh.
"Can we at least get a scratching post then? Please?" Maiman practically begs him.
"Goodness… yeah," Takeshi lets out a small laugh.
"Yay!" Maiman rushes off towards the isle with scratching posts. Takeshi starts off after her but just as he starts around a corner, he runs into someone, nearly causing him to drop the bags.
"I am so sorry, I didn't see you th…" he starts but stops when he locks eyes with the person he ran into, Ren.
"Just watch where you're going," Ren growls as she glares at him.
"C'mon Buckeye," Ren glances at a large Doberman dog behind her before walking around Takeshi, followed by the dog. Takeshi stands there, his breath shaking slightly as he listens to her footsteps get farther and farther away.
"Takeshi? Are you ok?" Maiman is suddenly standing in front of him with a confused look on her face.
"Hm? Oh, yeah, I'm fine. Let's get that scratching post and go," Takeshi snaps back to reality and gives Maiman a small smile.
"Are you sure you're ok? You look upset, or, bothered," Maiman raises an eyebrow at him.
"Let's just go," Takeshi sighs.
"Arhiyan! We're home!" Maiman calls as they step into their house.
"You get everything for the little one?" Arhiyan walks out from a back room.
"Enough at least I think," Maiman laughs as Takeshi sets the things down.
"She wanted to get a giant cat tree," Takeshi laughs as he closes the door behind him.
"Well why didn't you?" Arhiyan raises an eyebrow jokingly.
"It's not our cat!" He replies with a laugh as he starts towards the kitchen.
"Not yet!" Maiman smiles.
"Have you even looked into any missing…?" Takeshi starts but gets cut off as the cat comes out of nowhere and runs under his feet, tripping him and causing him to fall forward.
"Takeshi are you ok?" Maiman gasps as she looks at him lying on the floor.
"Seriously cat?" Takeshi starts to sit up and the cat quickly runs up to him and licks his face, forcing Arhiyan and Maiman to burst out laughing.
"I think it likes you, a lot," Arhiyan laughs.
"Little booger," Takeshi lightly glares at the cat before standing back up.
"And yes, I did look. This little one isn't anywhere. No one is looking for it," Arhiyan smiles.
"Really?" Maiman squeaks happily.
"Mhm! I looked everywhere. I even went to the humane society. Nothing. So, it looks like it's ours," Arhiyan nods.
"Can we go get a little name tag for its collar?" Maiman smiles.
"Yeah, of course!" Arhiyan smiles back.
"Wait, hold on. First off…" Takeshi starts but pauses. "We don't even know its gender and we haven't even named it," he sighs.
"Mohican! We should name it Mohican!" Maiman's smile widens.
"Mohican? Where in the world did you come up with that?" Takeshi raises an eyebrow as he looks at his sister.
"It's from a song," Maiman shrugs.
"I think it's a fitting name!" Arhiyan chimes in.
"We don't even know its gender, or how to even tell," Takeshi sighs. Maiman quickly walks over and carefully picks up the cat. She gently lays it on its back in her arms.
"It's a male," she smiles, her voice full of certainty.
"How did…" Takeshi starts.
"Reading," Maiman cuts him off.
"Ok then?" Takeshi lets out a small laugh.
"Can we go get it a name tag now?" Maiman looks at Arhiyan after putting the little cat down.
"Yep! Of course!" Arhiyan smiles.
"Cool! Let's go Takeshi!" Maiman turns and starts towards the door.
