Chapter 6 - Don’t worry about me, ok?

Tues. con't.

"Welcome back. Have a good day?" Arhiyan stands at the kitchen counter cutting something.

"Yeah. It was tiring. Mr.Norio worked us more than Mr.Himu. But I guess Mr.Himu does teach level one and Mr.Norio does teach level six," Takeshi shrugs and slumps into one of the kitchen chairs.

"We got a call…." she quietly sighs.

"From who?" He looks up at her.

"The agency. They need you on another case…" she sighs again.

"I thought they said I wasn't needed anymore," he sits up straight and leans forward.

"They need you tonight, said it's "code city". Whatever that means," Arhiyan turns and faces Takeshi.

"Great. Just great," he stands up with a sigh.

"I'll try not to be home late, even though that's not really under my control. Love you Arhiyan," Takeshi walks around the table and gives Arhiyan a big hug before leaving the house with Maiman. He and Maiman walk down the dim lit deserted streets of the city until they reach a large church-like building and they walk inside. They're greeted by a large entrance area with a desk in the center.

"Oh. Hey Takeshi!" A girl about Takeshi's age smiles at him from behind the desk, lightly twirling her strawberry red hair so it doesn't sit in front of her light red eyes.

"Hey May," Takeshi walks up to her with a smile.

"What're you doing here? I thought you were assigned to the school," she looks up at him with a confused smile.

"They just called me in, said it was "code city". It usually means it's urgent if they call and say that they need me," he lets out a small laugh and leans against the top of the desk.

"Oh, yeah. You should probably get back there then," she lets out a disappointed sigh.

"Yeah well see ya May," he smiles at her then walks off down one of the brightly lit hallways.

He walks down the halls till he walks to a dead end with a large iron door at the end. The door suddenly opens and a tall woman at least ten years older than Takeshi stands in the doorway glaring at him.

"Hurry up and get in here," her forest green eyes piercing through his eyes.

"Yes Ember…" Takeshi quickly rushes into the office-like room as the girl closes the door.

"That's Ember Rose to you mister," she grumbles and hits him in the head with a magazine.

"Sorry Ember Rose…" he stands next to a desk near the window of the room.

"You should be. Anyways. Here is the creature you are hunting. I believe you've hunted one of these in the past, but I am aware that you have only come in contact a few times," she walks over and hands him a piece of paper and he automatically starts to read it.

"Wait. Wait. Hold on. A transwolf? The things that can turn human and wolf and werewolf?" Takeshi stares at the picture of the creature being hunted.

"Yes," she shortly responds.

"So to kill the human, silver. To kill the werewolf, silver. And to kill the wolf, silver. Right?" He looks back up at her.

"Yes Takeshi now go before you have to work during the day and I know how much you hate doing that," she picks up a duffle bag and hands it to him after shoving him out of the room.

"Ok Ember Rose," he sighs and walks off down the hall after pulling the strap of the duffle bag over his shoulder.

"So what case are you on now?" May looks up at him from a drawing book on her desk.

"Transwolf," he sighs and heads towards the front door.

"Ok…. be careful!" She smiles at him. He stops and walks back over to her.

"I will. Now May, don't worry about me, ok?" He smiles back, leans over the desk, pulls her face close, and kisses her on the cheek, making her whole face go red.

"See you afterwards," he laughs and walks out of the building, leaving May with a face redder and pinker than her hair.

Takeshi walks down the quiet streets of the city until a paw-print in the mud catches his attention. He heads the way the print was headed until he reaches a small house on the outskirts of town. After glancing around, he carefully peaks in one of the windows, looking into a dark and empty room.

"Well, we have a hunter here now don't we?" A voice growls from behind him. He carefully pulls out a silver knife and points it at the neck of a girl with long black hair after turning around and facing her.

"You gonna kill me? Or turn me in? Like Kinu? Awh. You didn't know that every "monster" knows what goes on with other "monsters" now did you?" She laughs as Takeshi stays quiet. "Now, you ain't that bad lookin ya know? I wouldn't mind havin my pups wit you," she smirks and pins him to the side of the house.

"I think I'm good. I'd prefer to send you to the same place I sent Kinu," he shoves her off and pins her to the ground.

"Ooohhh! You makin the first move now huh? How cute!" She laughs and leans close to kiss him.

"I don't think so. Maybe Kinu will enjoy your company," he flips her over so she's laying on her chest then handcuffs her wrists together behind her back. "Now stand up," he gets off of her and pulls her to her feet harshly. Takeshi takes her back to the church-like building where some other workers take the girl and leave.

"Wow. That was quick," May looks up at Takeshi as he walks over to her desk.

"Pretty easy. She didn't even fight back. More like, seductive actions instead of aggressive. Almost like she wanted to be taken," he leans on her desk with a sigh.

"Well you know, some monsters struggle with living on their own, so some attempt to get taken in by us so they don't struggle anymore. With food and such," she slightly blushes at the sight of him.

"What're you doing on your break?" He suddenly asks.

"Um…Nothing?" May sits completely shocked and caught off guard.

"Want to go hang out or something? Maybe breakfast?" He looks right at her.

"Sure…" she gives him a small smile as a quiet alarm goes off on her phone.

"Looks like it's break time. Sign out and let's go get some breakfast before I have to go to school," he stops leaning against the desk as May stands up.

"Ok, yeah, sure," she lightly blushes as she signs out and walks around the desk towards Takeshi. They walk outside and down the streets to the diner as the sun starts to rise.

"So…. Where's Maiman? I saw you two come in when you first showed up but since you went and visited Ember Rose, she disappeared," May looks at Takeshi as they sit at one of the tables in the diner.

"The case was too difficult and if she went, her life would've been put in danger and I couldn't let that happen, so she's staying with Ember," he shrugs and thanks the server for bringing them some food.

"Oh. That makes sense," she gets quiet.

"Anyways. Let's talk about something else other than work. Like, you. Or something. Just not work," he gives her a reassuring smile.

"Uh um. Sure?" She lightly blushes again.

"So, we barely ever get to talk or anything. Like, hang out. We should do this more often," Takeshi smiles at her then takes a sip of his water.

"Oh um…. Yeah? Uh… Sure?" Her face stays red.

"So, hobbies or whatever?" He takes another sip of his water while eyeing her.

"I uh, I like to read, and draw, and write?" She lightly smiles at him.

"Go on," he laughs.

"I don't really have any pets, but I, love animals…. I guess I'm really creative….. And I barely have any friends… except in The Church," she smiles a little bit bigger.

"Well, I'll have to take you to school some time so you can make some more, well, once I make a few…. They all sort of look at me weird because on my first day I figured out that a Clone had snuck into the school…. And I kind of took them down…. In the middle of lunch. The Clone I mean…" he lets out a small laugh.

"Oh. Wow! I didn't know you were that observant and skilled," she laughs in return.

"Yeah. I know a few things or two about monsters in general. I'm sure you do too since all you do is sit behind that desk all the time," he laughs again.

"Well, I have the pleasure of pushing a button a few times of day. Other than that, I can doodle what some of the monsters that walk in the front door look like," she smiles as a quiet alarm goes off on Takeshi's phone. He pulls it out, checks it, and then stands up.

"It's ok. I get it. Let's go get your stuff and you should head off to school," she smiles as he leaves some money to pay on their table.

"Yeah, let's go. I'll walk you back so I can get Maiman," he sighs and they start to leave. They walk down the slightly busy streets of the city and into the church-building. After a few minutes, Takeshi heads off to school with Maiman.
