Logan checked on her almost every single day to make sure she was okay and doing better. He even helped her do exercise therapy.
~One week later~
Today Logan and Harper were meeting up, but Logan was more nervous than usual. Even though he can kill someone in an instant with or without knife which was his preferred weapon, but he was still nervous. Today he wanted to ask Harper to go on a date tomorrow.
Harper was more nervous than usual for their meeting too.
They go to the same place as they did last time they met. And Harper was already better and was about to return to work.
"Hey." Harper said as Logan took a seat right across from her.
*Ring*
"Oh, crap. It's my dad, be right back." Harper said.
"Okay." Logan said. He really tried to keep his cool on the outside but on the inside he was sort of freaking out. He knew his guys are close by but what if Harper's dad's guys are closer...
Harper returned in a few minutes. "Sorry about that, my dad just wanted to talk to me about something. And it was weird he sounded more serious than normal.
"Anyways," She said.
"Weird" Logan mumbled. He was thinking about what if her dad was going to tell her about to tell her everything about her family. Then his cover would be blown for good.
"Hey, Harper, I have something important to ask you." Logan said nervously.
"Yeah, sure , what is it?" She tried to say casually, even though her brain was about to shut down.
"Would you like to go out somewhere like we always do... but have it mean more than just a friendly meeting?" He asked. He silently cursed himself knowing it was a stupid mistake. He hadn't done this in a long time, not since...
Harper couldn't comprehend what he just asked her. Griffin, the hottest guy she had ever met, was asking her, Harper Grace, out on a date?!?!?!
"I'd love that." Harper finally managed to say, blushing immensely.
"What time would be best for you?" Logan asked her
"6:00?"
"Great, I'll pick you up then tomorrow?"
"Yep." Harper said and Harper went home while Logan had a meeting.
Logan's meeting was another execution. This time a woman who messed up bad on a mission. He knew that killing them, in front of the gang members who showed up, to make it painful and bloody.
He decided to make it quick, before he killed her he whispered to her, You brought this upon yourself." Then he took the knife, "Please... Logan." She whispered, but he made bloody slash marks on her back then slit her throat, as a mercy for the pain.
Then the crowd of them cheered for him. "This is what happens to moles!!" He said and pointed at her dead body.
Logan wasn't heartless, he made sure all the traitors or members who died, get to be buried and he attended them but definitely not a mole or not a Wildebeest mole, and her body will probably be sent to the Wildebeest King or something.
But that killing made him one step closer to being King...
~
Logan was trying to figure out which suit to wear. Which was hard, since he had a lot of nice suits.
But he decided to go with black and gray suit with a red tie.
Harper was also having a hard time deciding which dress she would wear. She didn't have a lot of dresses mostly professional work clothes.
She decided to go with a dress that was gray on the bottom and faded into black. She put her sweet red hair into a bun and let two pieces of hair fall down right in front of her ears. She put on makeup, and then she was ready to go.
The plan was, since Harper was probably protected by her dad's guys unknowingly, that they would meet up at the restaurant. Logan didn't want her dad blowing his cover before he had a chance to explain.
Logan got there first, so he waited in the front for Harper. 5 minutes later, Harper arrived.
Harper looked amazing and his heart felt like it skipped a beat when he saw her. While most men liked colors and pretty flashy stuff, Harper's dress seemed normal, but he could see all the hidden pockets in it, and the colors were just perfect on her. The dress was probably a gift from her dad to help her blend in.
Harper thought that Griffin looked handsome, and that the red accent tie was perfect. She, however, could not see the hidden pockets.
Logan held his arm out. "Shall we?" he said.
Harper smiled and took his arm. "We shall."
The sat down at a table and had ordered drinks and were deciding what they wanted to eat.
Logan decided to go with water and something called Hawaiian grilled steak. While Harper went with water as well, and she ordered honey glazed salmon and green beans.
While they were waiting for their food to be ready they sat their in silence, eating the bread that was set out.
It was awkward since they already knew most things about each other, so they sat there in silence both thinking what they were going to say.
"So how's work been?" Harper asked trying to start a conversation.
"Good, how was your first day back?"
"It was okay, nobody questioned what happened, thankfully."
"Why, 'thankfully'?"
"Well if I told them the truth it would get to my dad and that kind of stuff would make him go mad if he ever found out."
"I would imagine." Logan said and the both chuckled a little.
"So how is your game developing going?" Harper asked.
Logan got a little tense internally. That used to be his day job, and gang member was his night job, but now that he's almost a King, the gang has become his all day job.
"Well, the last project I worked on was a game that helps you remember every day things. You put something you need to do later, or a to-do list, and then choose a couple characters. Then, the computer makes a little song that gets stuck in your head and helps you remember what you need to do. The first version had been released. We are working our the kinks."
After that, Logan found the conversation quite easy. There were a lot of things to talk about. The saddest was a girl who got some sort of brain illness right before she went into high school a few months ago. She lives in Texas.
Once Logan got home, he was able to rest. He had taken a shower and was going to bed when he heard a noise in his house.
Logan took no chances and grabbed a big long knife from under his bed.
"Anybody there...?" Logan said in creepy sing-song voice. To him this was just a walk in the park, nothing scary about this. But in the back of his head he was thinking it could be anybody, even Harpers dad...
*Ding-Dong*
"Who in the hell could that be..." Logan muttered. He thought about maybe going to make the person at the door wait, and see what the noise was. But it could've been a rat or a possum.
Logan put down the knife and got his gun and tuck it in his waistband, making sure it was unnoticeable, and opened the door.
"Ah, Logan, is it?" A lady said with sweet red hair, that made it look like, Harper's mother. Of course send a woman, to talk to him, since everybody knows, not to hurt a lady.
"Yes, ma'am." Logan said with respect.
"Now, a little birdie told me that you went out with my daughter tonight... which was a big mistake, and your lucky Tobias hasn't received that information, yet. So Logan what games are you playing now?"
"It's a secret..."
"I will tell Tobias about your little thing with our daughter and then all hell will break loose on you!" She said trying to keep her voice down."
"Helen, I was told to get close to your daughter... mostly as someone she can think she can trust, but guess what, I've been protecting her the best I can. And just maybe have you ever considered to think that I actually love her!"
Helen gasped, "Logan, why can't you pick someone else, you know the risk you are taking. And Tobias is soon going to tell her everything. She will find out who you are and who knows what she'll think of you then. You need to be careful, I don't want my daughter ending up like your wife." Helen said making the last sentence sound like a hiss.
"Good bye, Helen." Logan said a nearly slammed the door in her face.
And Helen stood there for a second and was about to say something but, she just walked back to her car and drove away.
