We went again to the King's food. We ate a lot of 3-pointers(Cheese bread but with three types of cheese inside), burgers, and milkshakes. Everyone is an athlete, so a little carbo after the practice doesn't affect us too much.
Harris had 4 burgers and 24 three-pointers. He was tall and had a bigger frame, so it looks kind of normal?
I had something similar. 30 three-pointers and 2 burgers. These balls of cheese are just too great.
James went to order more burgers for him, but when he was on the line waiting to order it, some guys passed in front of him. He immediately blurted out.
"The fúck, dude? We have a line here, can't you see that?" He said clearly showing displeasure by these guys actions.
The one in front came back and stared at him.
"You have a problem, pal?" He said with a yokel tone.
I quickly walked to them, the guy wasn't in his right mind. He had little red dots on his arms like needle marks, unkempt hair, and a bad beard. He probably was an addict, and was confirmed as I saw his red and expanded pupils.
I smiled and quickly intervened.
"Sorry, sir. My friend just had a hard day. Let's forget what happened."
I looked at James, shook my head, and quickly pulled him back. When I left, the guy turned around and I had a quick glance under his jacket. He had a weapon between his pants. If he felt threatened I don't think he would let us get away.
As we got to the table, coach Kyle heaved a sigh of relief, he didn't react fast enough and that could have ended badly.
"Thank you, Jay." Coach said.
I just waived my hands and told him not to worry. James understood what happened only after I explained to him. He had cold sweat all over his place, then he also started to thank me.
After some time we started to tell some jokes to smooth the situation.
A while later, me and Mike left the restaurant and were about to call a Ub£r. Then we saw the same guys that messed around the restaurant trying to harass a girl. She was probably in high school yet.
There was a trash can around and two metal bars, I tapped on Mike's arm and point at it. He nodded his head and grabbed it as we went in their direction.
They were close to the parking lot and there was an alley with one-way end. We got close to them as we saw the guys, there were three of them.
We quickly jumped on them. I hit the guy on the left and Mike hit the right.
What surprised us, was that the girl quickly kicked the nuts of the third guy. I also gave a swing at his head and he immediately went unconscious.
"You cool?" I asked her.
"Yeah, I was just waiting for the right moment." She said calmly.
"What right moment?" Mike asked, with a mocking tone.
"I can fight. I just didn't want to take them head-on." She replied sounding annoyed.
"Do you want us to stay and help out? Call the police or something?" I asked.
"No, thanks. I will do it my self."
"Good thing they didn't take out the gun," Mike said while staring at her, trying to see her reaction, if she knew they had it.
She just glared at him. He was truly trying to annoy her this time. I just bumped my fist on his chest signaling him to stop and we left.
As I arrived home, my parents were watching the news and quickly called me to see it too.
It was about SNAB's decision to change the school's championship. They were complaining about the resources that will be spent, kids that will be left out of these schools, and a lot of other things.
SNAB's commissioner shut then down talking about the improvements they are going to make in the chosen schools and the scholarships that these students can receive if they haven't the necessary conditions to attend these schools.
"It's a new era to education and mostly basketball, the sport we all love. So the start might be a little turbulent. But if we don't do it, it is never going to happen." Said the commissioner.
I was thinking maybe dad could make the company support the SNAB's decision, but decided not to. I don't want to get involved in something like that yet. And as they decided that I will only interact with it when I'm fourteen, then I will wait until there.
After playing a few matches of COD with Mike I called it a night and slept.
I woke up and got ready to go to school. I went downstairs and saw Mom and Dad were playing with each other as usual. I ate breakfast and went to school.
School was normal, as usual. At the break I sat with the basketball team.
Mike was using his phone and suddenly jolted from his seat. He quickly showed me his phone and even I had a weird feeling.
It was an artic about a girl who beat the crap out a few drug dealers, she won 5,000$ because the guys were under some kind of bounty and she just won the prize. Yes, it was the same girl we helped yesterday.
Mike was pissed and cursed aloud. The guys around us were lost and I explained to them.
What left Mike annoyed was not the money, but the fact that the girl got the credit for it. And she had even flexed on the photo. It looks like he doesn't like the girl at all.
After school ended, everyone was set in an uproar because the list of schools chosen by the SNAB had been announced. Our school was selected as expected, and they also released the matchups of the first round.
We were playing one of the nearby cities and the game is in Dallas. Coach Kyle called for us at the training facility as he started to inform the scout about the team. The best thing is, the SNAB itself posted it on their site. They had all the players and their stats. They sort of rated them with 2k grades.
Coach Kyle allowed us to go to the computer lab and search for it ourselves. Their team was the average all around. They had a good PF and a sneaky SG. The rest of the team was also consistent.
Soon Paul and Harris called me.
"Jay, Jay. You are not on the list. Check it out. They haven't put your name on." Harris said.
"That's normal, I wasn't on the team." I replied.
"That's right. They took these pictures when we played against the Starlords last year." Mike said as he remembered the event.
"I guess I will have to make them acknowledge me huh?" I said jokingly.
The other guys laughed thinking about the surprises about to come. I had been playing with them for more than a year. They better than anyone else knows how well I play. And also having a ghost player is a lot better. It kind worked with the coach's decision to make me the ace.
