[[Languages]]
It is possible to tell where a human character is from through their dialect which is unique to their geographical origin. Nonhuman characters have their own unique language, but usually learn the common tongue which is, by all intents and purposes, basically just English.
Northwastes:
The people of the northwastes speak the old common, which is essentially very old-timey fantasy language. Words like "aye" and "lad" are strong indicators of the old tongue. There are very few individuals that still speak the old tongue as it is seen as uneducated by most.
Duchy of Soleil/Elves
Most humans and elves will speak regular common, which sounds a little antiquated, but isn't as old-feeling as the northern speech.
Western Hinterlanders
The darker skinned humans of the hinterlands have a strong accent that uses strong contractions and abbreviations reminiscent of country/wild west style speech. This dialect is seen as uneducated by other human regions, and so those of the hinterlands that migrate to move in the bigger cities of Soleil generally try to erase their accent.
