Chapter 20 - The Prophecy (1)

*FLASHBACK*

Decades ago, in another lifetime,

A lean figure of a woman was sitting by the crackling fireplace on a couch which looked more like a throne. She was too immersed in the dusky pale pages of the leather bound manuscript in her hand to even notice the bedroom door opening and closing behind her. Her curious eyes roamed over the cursive deep black words crawling on the stale papers in her hand. The luminous grayish-blue orbs widened in fascination as they bounced from one word to the other.

"Why are you already up?"

The familiar masculine voice startled the devilish beauty to the extent that the leather bound pages slipped through her dainty fingers, followed by the white bedsheet which was draped over her bare body, hiding her naked glory from her partner's sinful eyes. As an instinct, her hands move to her chest to cover the two mounds of flesh from the man standing next to the couch.

"Have you lost your mind? For the hundredth time, stop giving my poor heart shocks like this." The lady reprimanded him only to get an amused smile in return from the handsome man who was only wearing a robe made from the purest of silk.

"Shocks? I give you shocks?" The corner of his lips turned into a smirk as his eyes trailed down on her body, his mischievous oceanic eyes filled with hope to see something more. But a displeased growl escaped his lips when his sinful gaze landed on the pooled white sheet obstructing his view, not allowing him to see the pink petals of the divine flower in between her legs. "The only shocks I could give you or your body are the orgasms you get after I get to have a way with you." With a disheartened expression, he muttered under his breath.

His more than brazen words only earned a threatening glare from the lady. "You know that this room is like my den, and the only place where I let my guards down, that too only in your presence."

After hearing her words, the man couldn't help but smile as he went down on his knees next to the couch. "I know, precious. And I promise that no harm will befall over you in my presence. If I can be your only weakness, then I don't mind becoming your shield too." His oceanic blue eyes collided with her grayish blue ones as golden flecks illuminated them after hearing his confession. Her eyes which were filled with complaints earlier, were now brimming with emotions. But to the man's dismay, like always, his little demoness didn't let him enjoy the vulnerable side of hers for too long as a scowl hugged the curve of her lips.

"Did you go out like this earlier?" In her enraged state, she moved her hands from her full bosom to grab the collar of his black silk robe. It was only now that she realized that he had come from outside and only had a robe clinging to his muscular body to hide his nakedness. Pulling the man towards herself, she breathed out. "Did you let my maids see you like this?" Her angered filled words were no less than a fire which could burn his entire being. But the man still smiled at her as he gazed into her burning orbs.

"How could this humble servant of yours disrespect you like that, your Highness?" He leaned his face in so that their lips were merely an inch apart. "Only my woman is allowed to see me like this. I did go out earlier to check how the preparations for our lunch were going in the kitchen, but I used the cloaking spell which you taught me yesterday to hide myself from any prying eye.

After hearing his words, relief washed over her body and her grip on his robe loosened a little, but she still didn't let go of it. "I regret teaching you all of those spells. You are an angel' the most powerful creation of light, you of all people should not be using these dark spells. Those spells are too much for even a powerful being of the Nether World to handle." The sudden shift in her tone from a raging beast to a meek little caring partner, tugged at the strings of his heart.

"What's wrong with you today? This is the first time I am hearing you say that. Moreover, you just said it yourself that I am the most powerful creation of light, I can definitely handle a little darkness." He smiled at her and raised his hand to caress her cheek.

"I… I just read something. I am just worried that it might end up coming true, and the very thought scares me." She shifted her gaze away from his face and answered him.

"What did you read?" He couldn't stop himself from asking her. He wanted to know what writing could scare the lady who was actually the female version of the ruler of Nether World and the caretaker of Hell, the Devil.

"A prophecy." She pursed her lips together and pointed her chin towards the ash colored ground.
