Chapter 3 - The Man With Oceanic Eyes

~•Amara•~

As the sole of my white sneakers touched the cobbled stone pathway, which was paved through the vast garden right before the main building of my college, with my every step, an odd feeling was beginning to envelop my senses. Every hair on my body stood up in attention as a gust of wind brushed by my hair, making the straight silver white locks dangle a bit. I could feel every inch of my being yelling at me, asking me not to go any further.

Throwing the caution which my own senses were giving to me into the wind, I continued to walk towards the main building with my head lowered down and my eyes set on the ground. While walking down the path, I heard some cheery voices interlacing with each other and some heavy sounds of rushing footsteps coming from behind me. But one voice was way too prominent to be ignored by even a human, let alone a supernatural being like me.

"Go long." I heard the same mellow voice, calling out.

My mind was too occupied with noticing the minor details around me when I felt something coming in my direction, something small yet too fast. 'Don't tell me it's football!' I prayed inside my head for my own good as the words from earlier started to make more sense to my mind. Bracing myself for the impact, I decided to take the hit as no human would have been able predict something coming his way and avoided it.

"Ugh!" I groaned while holding my head in between my hands, turning slightly to my left and right. I could hear heavy footsteps closing in and coming to a stop around me. Without even opening my scrunched up eyes, I could tell that it was the same group of people who were responsible for my current state.

"Are you okay?"

I heard the same mellow voice enter my ears, which was soon followed by a couple of soft taps on my shoulder.

"Are you alright?" I heard him again as I felt his arms going around my shoulder, supporting my hunched over figure.

"I... I'm fine." I let out a groaned response, scrunching my eyebrows further. 'Do you think that a mere football can hurt me?' I thought the latter to myself as I continued to act like the injured person I was at the moment.

I fluttered my eyes open when I felt the hold around my shoulders tightening up, and looked up at him.

"Are you okay?" I heard the same mellow voice as his ocean blue eyes stared back at me. I could notice a little tint of sea green in them for he looked at me without even blinking.

"Yeah!" I briefly replied to him while trying to get away from his grasp.

"What are you doing?" He questioned me as his fingers dug deeper into my shoulder, trying to keep me in place. "Don't move. We need to take you to the sick room first. That was a really bad hit you took."

"No. I will be fine in a while. It just hurts a little bit." I spoke up.

"Stop moving!" The soft mellow tone he was using with me earlier was nowhere to be heard.

"Okay." I tried my best to sound as meek as possible.

"We need to get you checked up and make sure you don't have a concussion. So, this might take a while." He spoke up again as he gazed back into my eyes.

"Okay." I replied to him in the same flat tone as earlier as I tried to stand on my own.

"Hold on!" He spoke up and before I could even comprehend what was going on, I found myself being carried in his arms. "There's no way you are walking to the sick room. It's literally on the other end of the campus building."

"Excuse me?" I glared back at him. "I told you I will be fine, and I can surely walk on my own." I added, folding my arms across my chest as I tried to shift in his arms.

"Easy, White Head. I am just being nice to you all because I was the one who got you into this situation." I heard him say as he tried to keep me still and up in his arms.

I wanted so badly to give him a piece of my mind, but I knew I couldn't do so. Heaving out a long frustrated sigh, I decided to give in. "Alright, do what you please." I scoffed at him, not bothering to even hold on to his shoulders as he began to walk with slow steps.

With me in his arms, he continued to walk towards our destination. I could see people turning their heads as they began to mumble under their hushed tones. It didn't require me to use much of my brain to make a guess that he must be pretty famous on campus. Or else these girls wouldn't have been throwing deathly spades in my direction. What was with humans being so petty? I was not even touching him. It was him carrying me like a princess on his own.

I felt his steps coming to a stop after a long while which forced me to come out of my thoughts and turn my attention to the white door on my right. Seeing him struggling with how to open, or even knock at the door, I couldn't help but scoff.

"I have got this." I spoke up, offering him my help to get through this dilemma of his. Pushing my one hand forward, I lightly knocked on the wooden door. "Can you let me down now that we are here?" I decided to give it another go and try my luck. I hated being touched by another human and here I was, in his arms. What was with things going in the exact opposite direction of how I wanted them to proceed today?

"No."

The single-word response from him was enough for me to know that he would only let me go once we were inside. A click sound rang in my ears as the door opened from the inside, making me release a breath of relief.

A couple of minutes later, I found myself lying down in a stretcher type bed, one which you'd find in a hospital's ward. A woman dressed in a white shirt and matching pants was hovering above me as she examined me.

"She looks fine to me." I heard her speak. Hearing her words I was too elated after knowing that he won't bug me anymore with his presence that I missed the woman's worrying look. "But I will suggest you stay here until the doctor comes and checks on you. He just went out before you guys came in."

And with her words, came down my joy, crushing into the ground, and being smashed into a million pieces. Before I could even speak up for myself, the man with oceanic eyes and a head full of smooth black hair, spoke up.

"It's fine. We will wait for the doctor to arrive."
