Gu Xin Ye looked at Qin Zhan with her eyes wide. "Why are you here?"
Qin Zhan paid the money to Auntie Pei without looking at her. Only once the business transaction was completed that he turned and raised a brow at her. "Why? You think I can't be here?"
Gu Xin Ye felt the corner of her lips twitched. She was merely asking out of curiosity, but his tone was as if he was dissatisfied with her and had wanted to find a reason to argue. Pursing her lips tightly, Gu Xin Ye decided to shut up and finished her breakfast.
She silently gave him a look over and saw the plastic bags he was carrying. Quickly, she deduced that Qin Zhan came to the bus station to buy some stuff and had coincidentally seen her.
Finishing her steamed buns and soybean milk, Gu Xin Ye tossed the waste into the bin and wiped her hand on the napkin. Just as she had thrown the napkin into the bin, Qin Zhan had shoved the plastic bag in his hand towards her direction. She lifted her gaze and looked askance at him.
"Hold this," Qin Zhan said.
"Oh." Obediently, Gu Xin Ye took the plastic bag from him.
Once he transferred the bags to her, the force dragged her forward and the bag touched the ground.
Gu Xin Ye was not expecting that the bag to be that heavy. Curious, she peeked into the bag and saw that the bag contains some herbs and vegetables that were probably used for preparing beef noodles.
Sensing her gaze, Qin Zhan gave her a lopsided smile and said, "Since I have paid for your breakfast, you can consider that as the payment for your labor. Help me to carry the bag to the noodle stand."
Gu Xin Ye looked at him in with her eyes full of resentment.
The smile on Qin Zhan's lips widened when he saw her expression. "Young miss, you have to remember that there are no free meals in this world."
Her mouth twitched as Gu Xin Ye bore the thought to beat the man in front of her. As he watched his delighted expression when he saw her unhappy face, Gu Xin Ye could not help but wonder if this man was secretly a sadist.
"Hurry up or we'll be late," Qin Zhan said. "The customers are going to show up soon. I don't want to leave those two kids alone."
Tightening her grip on the bag, Gu Xin Ye could only trail after Qin Zhan in silence.
"Miss Gu," Qin Zhen broke the silence.
"Hmm?"
"You seem to be afraid of me," Qin Zhan pointed out.
Gu Xin Ye turned at the man beside her and only replied after a few seconds has passed. "You must be imagining things."
"Am I?" Qin Zhan touched his chin and raised a brow.
As she noticed the way he was looking at her, Gu Xin Ye immediately turned her head away.
It would be a lie to say that she was not afraid of Qin Zhan. The first time she saw this man, he was waving around his chopper in his head to chase after a few men in suits away from his noodle store.
Would anyone not worry about their life if they saw the same scene?
Moreover, right now, Gu Xin Ye was working part-time in Qin Zhan's noodle store while lying to him of his identity. The thought that he might someday know of her identity as the vice-president of GDB scare her.
Gu Xin Ye was worried that once Qin Zhan found out, he would chase her with a cleaver and the elderly who hang around his stall would help to kill her.
As this thought crossed her mind, Gu Xin Ye found that she was now living a dangerous life.
Sometimes, Gu Xin Ye would bore this thought that she should leave this place before she gets herself in deep trouble. Anyway, working part-time to wash dishes at this noodle stall was too tiring and it does not pay as much.
But then, the image of her late father's sworn-brother, Wang Zhi Wei would appear in her mind.
Gu Xin Ye knew that she shouldn't let the chance to get close to Qin Zhan go away. All she needed to do was to spend enough time to understand this man and find out the reason why he wanted to stay in this small town.
Only when she learned more about her enemy will she knew his weakness.
Gu Xin Ye was determined to find out Qin Zhan's weakness and make him an offer he cannot refuse. She needs to bring him back to Capital City and hire him to work for her!
As she was deep in her thought, Gu Xin Ye soon realized that the two of them had reached the noodle stall.
When they arrived, both Luo Qi and Luo Jun were busy arranging the bowls and other utensils on the table. Gu Xin Ye was stunned as she watched the speed of the two kids did their job. They were still young, but the way they worked showed that this was something that they had done almost every day.
Luo Qi lifted her head and was surprised to find the two of them together. "Eh? How come the two of you are together?"
"We met on our way here," Qin Zhan said. He went to his work station and placed the bag he was carrying at the table. Then, he motioned to Gu Xin Ye to come and put the bag she was carrying at the same place.
Luo Qi clicked her tongue when she saw this scene. "Little uncle, how can you let a girl carrying heavy stuff for you. It's no wonder your girlfriend left you in the past."
Gu Xin Ye's eyes perked up at this gossip. But once she saw the look that Qin Zhan was giving her, Gu Xin Ye knew that she should not be a busy body. Anyway, she could always gossip with Luo Qi when Qin Zhan went away.
"Have you guys finished everything?" Qin Zhan asked both kids. "If you're done, go and teach Miss Gu a few things. We don't want her to run around like a headless chicken."
Hearing his comments made her a little angry and Gu Xin Ye started to curse Qin Zhan and his entire family as a headless chicken. But that thought was quickly masked with a smile on her face as Luo Qi came and pulled at her hand.
"Sister, since the customer hasn't come in yet, I will teach you what you're supposed to do when you come to this stall," Luo Qi said amiably. "Next week, my brother and I will start to go to school. Therefore, you will be left with a little uncle to look after the stall. My little uncle can be a little unreliable at times, so you have to look after him."
Gu Xin Ye's expression paled at the thought that she will have to spend her time alone with Qin Zhan the next time.
"Don't worry," Luo Qi said. "The stall won't be as busy tomorrow. Things will be a lot more relaxing as the others had returned to the city.
