Misty Mountains
Tiberius POV
"Truly amazing young prince, your army is well disciplined and they trained with great fervour, those formations are like walking turtles while those shield wall are like the famous famous Korhaz Kaz'ad of the dwarves.
I looked at Gandalf and ask: "The what?"
"It means shield fort in dwarven language, it's one of the reason why dwarven armies are feared"
"How strong are they compared to my legions?"
"You have many similarities but what separates your legions from them are that your legions armors are nothing compared to them, the armies of dwarves has one of the most thickest armors in middle earth and are very hard to penetrate, while your legions armors are a bit in poor quality compared to the many armies in middle earth."
I look at him with a serious expression and silently think, "If it is true, my legions are seriously in need of an upgrade, it's a good thing Thorin promised to forge us new gears."
"By the way Gandalf can you tell me more about middle earth?"
"Sure young prince"
Gandalf and I talked until the sun was up above us, without noticing it was already afternoon. We continued our conversation while having lunch when Garen interrupted us.
"Your majesty you need to sign some parchments for the logistics commands"
I nod and stand while looking at Gandalf: "Thank you Gandalf for all the information, we really needed it, I will inform my men about what you said to me so that they won't be walking blind in this world."
Gandalf nods and I walked to my tent with Garen, in there I read and signed parchments as I was about to sign the last the parchment I suddenly noticed something.
"What the hell?"
Garen looks at me while slanting his head: "What is it your majesty?"
I hold the parchment in front of my eyes and continued to stare at it intently."Holy shit! why haven't I noticed before and why is everyone the same?"
Garen looks at the parchment and curiously stare at me: "Is there something wrong written?"
I looked towards at Garen while my forehead sweats and hands tremble while thinking that for something so obvious that no one noticed is very scary. Maybe that God Eru Gandalf mentioned is real, maybe we need to change religion after all.
"Um read this again"
Garen holds out his hand and takes the parchment, he reads it and doesn't see anything wrong. "Nothing's wrong your majesty, we already talked all about it during the meeting last night and you just have to sign it."
"You not realizing makes it more scary, look at my hand tremble and my head sweats I can't believe of all people you won't notice, Darius sure he won't, but you? something is really wrong."
Garen seriously looks at me: "What is it? Is it really serious?"
I nod and finally explain: "What language are you speaking right now?"
Garen raise his brow and replies: "Of course its Lati,, OH SHIT! Why the hell I did not noticed!"
I nod and pointed at the parchment: "Look at it"
Garen stares at the parchment and opened his eyes wide, his hand trembles and forehead sweats just like I did.
"What language is this and why can I read it? I'm now scared too your majesty"
I slowly nod: "It's like something is blocking our attention not making us realize were not speaking in Latin anymore and you wrote that right?"
Garen nods his head repeatedly.
"You didn't even noticed you were writing in different language anymore, something must have happened when we were unconscious during that rift and light blinding us"
Garen nods his head again and speak: "We need to tell the others"
"Gather the centurions"
Garen salutes and was about to leave when I remembered something: "Wait, call Gandalf too he might know something"
Garen nods and leaves to summon the centurions.
One hour after I gave my order the centurions can be seen gathered around the tent except for Gandalf who is still not here. I looked around and glanced at my officers. "Anyone noticed anything?" They stared at me before shaking their heads not realizing our situation.
"Figured you won't notice anything when me and Garen only noticed it just a while ago"
I placed down the parchment from before and point at it: "Read it and tell me anything wrong"
They stared at me before looking at the parchment, they read for a while before looking back at me.
"Really?, no one noticed anything? Sigh"
I point one of the centurions and ask: "What language is written there? and what language are we speaking in?"
The centurion replies: "It's Lati, Oh wait, what the hell?!"
I looked at the centurion and think to myself that the word for the day is what the hell.
The other centurions looked at the parchment and each other in realization except for Darius who still scratches his head when he is confused, I looked at him in worry as I thought if he was dropped when he was a baby.
After five minutes of silence in the tent Darius finally opened wide his eyes and his jaw drops as he finally realized, I thought to myself, "That's a new record"
"Alright everyone finally realized, right Darius?" I asked Darius confirming if he really knows or just acting.
Darius seriously nods and replies: "It's not latin right?"
Everyone in the room clapped while the centurion right beside Darius pats Darius back and one them even wiped tears in his eyes. Darius smiled proudly like it was an honor while Garen places his palm in his face when he see his actions.
"Congratulations Darius!, as I was saying no one noticed we were speaking or writing in different language, even if we were too busy fighting yesterday we should have noticed it by the time we talked with the dwarves but it was like something was distracting us making us feel like it was natural speaking in another language, I don't know the reason and surely all of you won't know too, right Darius?, that's why I called Gandalf because he is a wizard and being a wizard means having great wisdom because he said to me it comes with the job but he is still not here.
"I'm here young prince" I turned my head to see Gandalf coming in escorted by my guards.
